Maggie W. Thompson 1930-2012

WEBBVILLE — Maggie W. Thompson, 81, of Webbville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland surrounded by both son and daughter.  

She was born April 5, 1930, in Webbville, a daughter of the late Ray and Lula Houck Woods.  

She was the former owner of Thompson Grocery in Willard from 1956 through 1972, and most recently was a clerk at Rupert’s Department Store. She was a member of Grayson Order of Eastern Star Chapter 10 since 1948 and a charter member of the Webbville Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors. She also was co-organizer of the Webbville High School Reunion.  

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Thompson Jr., in 1975 and three brothers, Earl Woods, Ralph Woods and Roy Woods.  

Her survivors include a son, Larry, and wife Marilyn Thompson of Grayson; a daughter, Lisa, and husband Mark Rogers of Grayson; two sisters, Vivian McCoy of Tennessee and Helen Kitchen of Ashland; a brother, Jimmy Woods of Grayson; four grandchildren, Joey Thompson of Grayson, Holly Thompson of Florida, Keila Bender of Grayson and Hunter Rogers of Louisville; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Gary Sparks and David Boggs. Burial will be in Grayson Memorial Burial Park.  

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Kitchen, Tim Woods, Zane Bush, Bill Woods, Edd Woods and Roy Woods.
