William C. Wheeler (1954-2009)
William C. Wheeler, 54, of Westwood, was taken to heaven by the hand of his Mother on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Wheeler was born July 20, 1954, in Ashland, Ky., a son of Curtis and Delores Gibbs Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are four sons, Shaun Finley, Dustin Finley (Kelly), Billy Finley (Courtney) of Ashland and Billy Wismer (Frannie) of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters, Brandi Webster (Brent) of Westwood and Cristel Lather of Toledo; two brothers, Jody Wheeler of Ashland and Samuel Wheeler (Gloria) of Westwood; four sisters, Debbie Bayless (David) of Clarkston, Ky., Linda Dennis of Greenup, Brenda Crank (Danny) of Wisconsin and Sherry Stevens of Westwood; nine grandchildren and special friends, Garner and Jerry L. Stephens of Westwood.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with Pastor Ronnie Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery.

Charles D. Williams Sr. (1942-2009)
Charles Douglas Williams Sr., 66, of Ashland, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, March 1, 2009, following a brief illness.
Charles was born July 6, 1942 in Ashland, a son of the late James Ervin and Elise Elizabeth Burchett Williams.
He was a member of the Ashland Lions Club, Ambassadors 4 Christ, the model T Ford Club of America and the Ohio Valley Association of Christian Baptist Church of God. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airman 2nd class and retired from Armco Steel after 25 years of service. He was a past president of the Ashland National Little League. Charles was the previous owner of Williams Excavating, Consolidated Rental Service, Old Orchard Sundry, Yellow Cab of Ashland, Action Delivery Moving & Storage and the Ugly Duckling Car Rental. He was the founder and a board member of MTS Ambulance and Classy Limousine. He was interim pastor and deacon of Russell Christian Baptist Church, and served as pastor of Winchester Christian Baptist Church in Winchester, Ky. He was the active pastor at Rt. 5 Christian Baptist Church and assistant treasurer and the Kentucky District Superintendent of Ohio Valley Association of Christian Baptist Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Coburn; one brother, Billy Joe Williams and one grandson, Jared Stacy Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Barbra Sue Patrick Williams of Ashland; a son, Charles D. “Chuck” Williams Jr. and his wife, Kim of Ashland; a daughter, Teresa Cornette and her husband, Gary Matthew of Ashland; a brother, Jack Allen Williams of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Shellie (Matt) Louanglath, Corey Shane Williams, Adam Cornette, Ryan Cornette and Nicholas Williams.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 by Pastor Paul Hagen, Pastor Delmar Rogers and Pastor Calvin Ray Evans at Rt. 5 Christian Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland. Military services will be conducted by Kenova American Legion Post #93.
Pallbearers will be Matt Louanglath, Shane Williams, Gary Matthew Cornette, Matt Jobe, Brian Baer, Jonathan Rogers, Jason Plummer and Ed Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Cornette, Ryan Cornette and Nicholas Williams.

Virginia Gail Porter Waddell (1941-2009)
Virginia Gail Porter Waddell, age 67, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, March 1, 2009 in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Ms. Waddell was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Elliott County, Ky., a daughter of the late Charles Cleveland “Charlie” and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Middleton Porter.
Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a Christian and of the Church of God faith. Virginia was a 1961 graduate of Sandy Hook High School and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Waddell on Jan. 18, 2003; one brother, Bert Porter; three half brothers, Clell Porter, and infants Ed Porter and Clyde Porter; two stepbrothers, Gomez Leadingham and James Mackie Leadingham; two sisters, Bonnie Porter and Glow Porter; eight half sisters, Bess Rose, Laura Mabry, Maxine Rose, Elizabeth Bowling, Geraldine Simmons; and infants, Lennie Porter, Mae Porter and Glory Porter; two stepsisters, Berlita Stevens and Glenna Jean Evans; and stepmother, Nellie Brown Leadingham Porter.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Viola Waddell of Olive Hill, Ky., and Timothy and Glenna Waddell and Dana Lee Waddell, all of Morehead; one daughter, Tammy Ann Fields of Elliott County; 15 grandchildren, Kelly and husband, Jeremy Benton of Clearfield, Ky., Chesla and husband, Stephen Marcus of Morehead, Amanda Waddell of El Paso, Texas, Jennifer Waddell of Lancaster, Ky., Zach Fields of Sandy Hook, Channing Knipp, Chaston Knipp, Elizabeth Fields, Josh Fields, Gunnar Waddell and Gauge Waddell, all of Olive Hill, and Kaden Waddell and Jacob Waddell, both of Morehead; her children’s father, Bill Waddell of Olive Hill; daughter-in-law, Brigitte Waddell of Olive Hill; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Glennis and Arlene Porter, Vaughn Porter, Dale and Judy Porter, all of Mansfield, Ohio, and Raymond “Jewel” and Garnet Porter of Elliott County; one stepbrother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Gail Leadingham of Lilburn, Ga.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce Ann Perry of Marion, Ind., and Eleanor and Dave Wilcox of Warrenton, Va.; three half sisters, Gladys Porter of Mansfield, Dixie Manning of Muldraugh, Ky., and Faye Blizzard of Grayson, Ky.; eight stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Alberta Craycraft of Lexington, Ky., Donna and Don Owens of Emerson, Ky., Alice and Rodney Kegley of Mableton, Ga., Sharon and Don Frazier of Grahn, Ky., Connie Lemon and Vickie Mosier, both of Glenmont, Ohio, Shelia and George Kiser, and Rita and Clifford Roe, all of Olive Hill.
She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Billy T. Rice, Brother Clyde Eugene Dickerson and Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Fairview Cemetery on Fairview Road in Elliott County.
