Ronald Chapman - 1928-2007

Ronald Ray Chapman, 79, of Ashland, widower of Mary Jane Chapman, went to be with his Lord and wife on Monday afternoon Oct. 1, 2007.

Ron was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Linzie and Dossie Richardson Chapman. Ron was a retired clerk for C&O; Railroad and a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland.

In addition to his wife and parents, a sister, Violet Hatfield, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Carter and her husband, Jim, of Ashland and Deborah Evans and her husband, Emmor, of Ashland; four grandchildren, Matt Carter, Wendy Boyd, Carrie Owens and Justin Evans; and four great-grandchildren, Trey Belcher, Tori Belcher, Aubrey Owens and Mattox Carter.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, by Brother Todd Richardson at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Ralph Evans - 1912-2007

Mr. Ralph Evans, 94, of South Shore, Ky., went to be with his Lord on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Shore.

He was born Nov. 6, 1912, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Forrest Evans and Flora Osborne Evans.

He was a member of South Shore First Christian Church and Harrison-Fullerton Masonic Lodge 937 of South Shore for 50 years. He was a Kentucky colonel.

Also preceding him in death were his wife, Sadie L. Evans, on Jan. 14, 1996, and two brothers, Paul Evans and Foster Evans.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Forrest A. (Beverly) Evans of Worthington, Ky.; three daughters and their husbands, Joy L. (Frank) Bryson of Russell, Ky., Patty L. (Joe) Russell of Ironton, Ohio, and Robbin (Roger) Maddix of South Shore; a nephew, Ronald Evans of Crossville, Tenn.; two nieces, Jean Phillips of South Shore and Ometta Baker of Brooksville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
