Lloyd Mason Daniel - 1936-2007
Lloyd Mason Daniel, 70, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, May 20, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Ashland, a son of the late Albert Mason and Jo Frances Turner Daniel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Daniel.
He retired from Pennco, served in the National Guard and in the U.S. Army in Italy and was a Baptist. He was Scoutmaster of Ashland Boy Scout Troop 102 from 1957 to 1964.
Lloyd’s first priorities were his wife, family and home, but he had wide-ranging interests including drawing, painting, woodworking, hunting, fishing and nature.
Surviving are his wife, Velma Blair Daniel, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1992; daughters Lisa Walters, Kathy (Tony) Adkins and Hazel (Mike) McCoy, all of Ashland; three brothers, Robert L. Daniels of Bigfork, Mont., James D. Daniel of Grayson, Ky., and Phillip L. Daniel of Alliance, Ohio; a sister, Dorotha M. Ingle of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and grandchildren Skyler Walters, Shannon Adkins, Megan Adkins, Shelly McCoy and Josh McCoy.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. William McCoy. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Marie Salyers - 1919-2007
Marie Salyers, 88, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, May 20, 2007, in Woodland Oaks Healthcare Facility.
She was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Minnie, Ky., the daughter of the late Elbert S. and Susie Young Salyers.
She was a mail clerk for R.L. Polk & Co., a member of the Ashland Senior Center and attended the First Church of God.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Aileen Loftis and Braskia Koppel; and two brothers, Hudson Salyers and Luther Salyers.
She is survived by two sisters, Dora Barber of Ashland and Ella Maxwell of Flat Rock, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, May 22, 2007, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Mabel Johnson. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home.

Zella Mae Fryer Daniels - 1952-2007
Zella Mae Fryer Daniels, 55, of Rush, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 21, 2007, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mrs. Daniels was born May 2, 1952, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth Salyers Fryer.
In addition, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Sue Daniels Gussler; a brother, Earl Fryer Jr.; and her father-in-law, Henry Gamble.
She was a homemaker and attended Princess Chapel Church. She was dearly loved by all and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Roger Darrell Daniels of Rush; two sons, Darrell Ray (Brenda) Daniels of Hitchins, Ky., and Mark (Sarah) Daniels of Ashland, Ky.; a daughter, Theresa (Kevin) Lucas of Rush; five granddaughters, Tiffany, Katlin, Shanda and Madison Daniels and Amber Lucas; three grandsons, Roger Garred Barnett, Gage Lucas and Braxton Gussler; her mother-in-law, Helen Gamble of Ashland; three brothers, Johnny (Betty Jo) Fryer, Eddie Fryer and Denny (Pouger) Fryer, all of Grayson; and four sisters, Vie (Randy) Halley of Rush, Annie (Tom) Griffith and Theresa (Jimmy) Miller, both of Grayson, and Betty Lou Davis of Gibsonburg, Ohio.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Jim Mitchell. Burial will be in Fryer Family Cemetery in Carter County, Ky.

Janice Marie Maynard Amos - 1938-2007
Janice Marie Maynard Amos, 69, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Saturday, May 19, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Amos was born in 1938 in Catlettsburg. She was a member of Twin Fork Church of the Nazarene for 53 years. Previous employment included Boyd County School District (Eidson Elementary), Ponderosa Steak House and G.C. Murphy Co.
Mrs. Amos was the daughter of the late Walter S. Maynard Sr. and the late Emma Louise Blackburn Maynard. She was the widow of Elmer Charles Amos Jr., who passed away in 1989 after 35 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Walter S. Maynard Jr.; and two sisters, Elizabeth S. McClelland and Clara Lou Forrest.
Mrs. Amos is survived by her loving children: son Michael Amos and his wife, Jo; daughter Carolyn Chaney and her husband, David, all of Catlettsburg; and son Charles Amos and his wife, Kathy, of Ashland; a brother, Charles Maynard and his wife, Janie, of Grayson, Ky.; and a sister, Deborah Melvin and her husband, George, of Ashland. Mrs. Amos is also survived by five wonderful grandsons, Mick Amos and his wife, Stacy, of Ashland, Christopher Amos, Aaron Amos and Nicholas Todd Chaney and his wife, Miranda, all of Catlettsburg, and Charles David Amos and his wife, Rachel, of Live Oak, Texas; and her beloved three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Amos of Texas and Dylan Amos and Conner Amos, both of Ashland.
Mrs. Amos was a devout Christian who lived her life putting God first and serving him faithfully her entire life. Her passion was mission work and she served her church as Nazarene Mission International president for 24 years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, a VBS teacher, choir director and church secretary. Mrs. Amos was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved her family with grace and dignity.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Twin Fork Church of the Nazarene, Ky. 168, Catlettsburg, by her son, the Rev. Michael Amos, assisted by her grandson, the Rev. David Amos. Burial will be in Bayless Family Cemetery in Catlettsburg.

Kendall Banks - 1962-2007
Paul Kendall Banks, 44, of Coal Branch Road, Greenup, Ky., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
Mr. Banks was born Aug. 10, 1962, in Russell, a son of Paul “Buddy” and Mary Sue Rice Banks of Tarpin Springs, Fla.
He was a conductor for CSX and owner of Silver Buddy Lure Co.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Carter Banks; a son, Jason Banks of Greenup; a daughter, Courtney Banks of South Portsmouth, Ky.; a brother, David Banks; and a grandson, Jacob Paul Banks of Greenup.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Beth Banks.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Paul Harr, minister. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery on Ky. 1, Greenup.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Alli Leander Jackson LeMaster - 1992-2007
Alli Leander Jackson LeMaster, 15, of Worthington, Ky., passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007.
She was born Jan. 20, 1992, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of Leigh Ann Huddle LeMaster of Worthington and John Jackson of Grayson, Ky.
Alli was a sophomore at Raceland-Worthington High School, where she was in the chorus, Future Business Leaders of America and the gifted program. She was a member of Russell Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Junior and Molly Blevins Jackson of Willard, Ky.; her maternal grandparents, James and Donna Stidham Huddle of Grayson; her maternal great-grandmother, Eloise Huddle of Raceland, Ky.; two brothers, Richard Clay LeMaster and Brady Jackson; and two sisters, Sarah Jackson and Becky Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Raceland-Worthington High School by Brother Mark McKinney. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, May 22, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson and after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the high school.

Regina Gail Stephens, 37, of Sandy Hook, Ky., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at her home.
She was born April 17, 1970, in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of Charles and Joan Clarke Stephens of Sandy Hook.
She was a Baptist and a correctional officer at the Little Sandy Correctional Complex.
Besides her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Devan Brown; two sisters, Sheila and her husband, Joe Adams, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Vicki and her husband, Bruce Haddad, of Louisville, Ky.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens.

Betty Eaton - 1924-2007
Betty Jane Rigsby Eaton passed away Friday evening, May 18, 2007 at her home on Moore Street in Huntington, W.Va.
Mrs. Eaton was 82 years of age, born Oct. 1, 1924, on Catletts Creek in Catlettsburg, Ky., the daughter of the late Henry and Ella Howard Rigsby, and the wife of the late Arthur Eaton, who preceded her in 1988.
She leaves behind three brothers, Richard Rigsby of Catlettsburg, Wade Rigsby of Eatonton, Ga., and James Rigsby of Madison, Ga.; three sisters, Pat Perry of Huntington, Alice King of Hamlin, W.Va., and Sue Tucker of Snellville, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews all to mourn her loss. Passing on before are three sisters, Loretta Rigsby, Linda Mount and Clara Sneed .
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jane Eaton will be today, May 22, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Brother Talmadge Badgett will bring a personal eulogy and spiritual message. Final rest will be in the Catlettsburg Cemetery. A reception will be held following the committal at Wildwood Baptist Church on Charles Street in Ashland, Ky. All are welcome.
