Travis “Benji” McDowell, 23, of Clearfield, formerly of Greenup, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Benji was born Feb. 5, 1990, in Ashland, a son of Roger and Karen Hamilton Helms.
He was an EMT for King’s Daughters Medical Center, a volunteer fireman for Wurtland Station 90, a former volunteer fireman for Greenup Station 70 and a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Flatwoods.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Kimberly Wilson McDowell; a daughter, Shelby Renae McDowell, at home; a brother, Nathan (Nancy Chandler) McDowell of Flatwoods; a sister, Summer (Josh) O’Neal of Load; grandparents Clarence and Christine Hamilton of Wurtland; an uncle, Paul (Diane) Hamilton of Naples; two aunts, Connie (Jack) Wells of Wurtland and Sue (Ray) Halleck of South Point, Ohio; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Elaine Kidd Wilson of Morehead; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Richard Waggner. Burial will be in Sexton Cemetery in Wurtland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and one hour before the funeral on Monday.
