Lydia Jewel Hale, 75, of Ashland, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at her residence.
She was born March 3, 1938, in Hitchins, the daughter of the late John and Alia Jane Seagraves Helms.
She worked in the state employment office and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hale; four sisters, Mable Workman, Kathleen Ritchie, Lottie Ratliff and Effie Conley; and three brothers, Marvin Helms, John Helms and Edgel Helms.
She is survived by two daughters, Lydia Joan “Joanie” Rymer (David) of Ashland and Cheri Lynn Traylor of Ashland; one son, James E. “Jimmy” Hale Jr. of Ashland; one sister, Maggie Hale of Ashland; nine grandchildren, Brian Thomas (Stacie), Erica Hughes (Eric Taylor), Cameron Thomas. D.J. Rymer, Sarah Rymer, Jay Hale (Felica), Chris Hale (Shaye), Wesley Moore and Joseph Hale; and nine great-grandchildren, Josh and Kylie Thomas, Brayden Hughes, Bryson, Lacey, Emma, Alexis, Ethan and Mason Hale.
The funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland with Ron Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 11:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
