ASHLAND — Rockland “Rocky” George, 67, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Mr. George was born June 3, 1945, in Ashland, son of the late Douglas George and Johnie Evalee James Sturgil.

Rocky served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician for Boyd County School System, a Kentucky colonel, board member of Northeastern Fish and Game Club and Grayson Old Time Machinery Club, a self-described cobbler and a member of Princess Church of Christ. Rocky was a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and Shyloh his faithful companion.

Left behind are Rocky’s adoring wife, Berna Adams George; daughters, Jessica George and Kristina George, both of Cannonsburg; brother, Philip Sturgil (Jindra) of Ashland; and niece, Amanda Jones of Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Elmo Sturgil.

Funeral service for Mr. George will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Jerry Morris will officiate. Final rest will be in Music Cemetery.

Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
