GREENUP — Sherman Lee Stewart, 61, of Argillite, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, in Greenup.

Mr. Stewart was born May 13, 1950, in Kenova, W.Va., a son of Virginia Cumpston Stewart of Flatwoods and the late John C. Stewart.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gertrude Picklesimer Stewart; one great-grandson, Kenneth Bolick; one brother, Thomas Stewart; and two nephews, Eric Kelly and Bud Stewart.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, John Danner (his girlfriend, Phyllis Jenkins) of Argillite; five daughters, Carol (George) Willis, Diane (Paul) Hamilton, Wanda (Dennis) Payne, all of Ashland, Sue (John) Austin of Maine and Connie (Jimmy) King of Rush; four brothers, Barry Stewart, Tony Stewart, Willie Stewart and John H. Stewart; four sisters, Vickie Williams, Mary Hockley, Ruth Clere and Eva Williams; 15 grandchildren, George Jr., Adriana, Kayla, Paul, Jonathan, Misty, Brittany, John, Brandie, Michael, Marcie, Jessie, Amy, Tiffany and Amanda; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland by the Rev. Tom Jackson. Burial will be in Picklesimer Cemetery in Argillite.
