Pauline Grey Adams - 1925-2008

Pauline Grey Adams, age 83, of Ashland, Ky., passed away at her residence with her family in attendance on Nov. 30, 2008.

Mrs. Adams was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Martin, Ky., a daughter of the late Jack and Ocie Bailey Justice.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Winston Justice and a sister, Ethel Ward.

She was retired from Charles Adams Insurance Agency and a 48-year member of Beech Street Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Adams of Ashland; two daughters, Allyson Reynolds and husband Paul of Ashland and Charlcee Wolfe and husband Alan of Columbus, Ohio; and grandchildren, Sydney McAlister, Ross McAlister, Ellen Reynolds and Jessica Reynolds, Alexis Wolfe and Marissa Wolfe.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by minister Ken Vaughn. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Dec. 2, 2008, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Beech Street Christian Church Family Life Center Fund, 1672 Beech St., Ashland, KY 41102.

Delores I. Ralston - 1937-2008

Delores I. Ralston, 71, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at her residence.

She was born June 21, 1937, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Lacie Crislip Ward.

She attended Garden of My Heart Holy Tabernacle Church in Bidwell.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Mitchell Williams and Chris (Denise) Williams, all of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Joyce (Eddie) Gillian of Boiling Springs, S.C.; four grandchildren, Chad Bryan, Brandie Porter, Leia Williams and Lacie Williams; one half brother, John of Vinton; one half sister, Sarah Jane of Eaton, Ohio; and one aunt, Betty Enyart of Ashland, Ky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Ralston; and a daughter, Linda William Bryan.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 208 Main St., Vinton, with the Rev. Ted Glassburn officiating. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Dixon Cemetery near Ashland.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Mary Ross - 1931-2008

Mary Emma Satlerly Ross, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Ross was 77 years of age born March 7, 1931. Her husband, Clyde H. Ross, preceded her in death. She attended Marshall University, later to teach English for many years in the Boyd County School System.

Mary is survived by a loving family including a daughter, Rebecca L. Hall of Flatwoods, Ky.; a grandson, Andrew M. Hall Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Boyd County; and two precious great-grandchildren, Andrew “Drew” Michael Hall III and Kerrigan Ciera Hall.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In Mrs. Ross’ memory, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Donna (Lewis) Daller - 1938-2008

Donna (Lewis) Daller, age 70, of West Deer, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, in the comfort of her home.

Born on Aug. 9, 1938, in Ashland, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Pauline (Bailey) Lewis.

She was the beloved wife of the late George Daller, who died on Aug. 20, 1994.

Also preceding her in death is her brother, the late Robert Lewis.

She was the loving mother of Joe Cartwright of Lexington, Ky., and Brent Jensen of Hughesville, Pa.; sister of Janet Evans of Ashland; and grandmother of Kimberly and Christopher Cartwright and Elisabeth and Benjamin Jensen.

Family suggests donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 120 Wall St., New York, NY 10005.

Larra Genelle Nelson

Larra Genelle Nelson, infant daughter of Larry Gene and Kimberly Collins Nelson, was stillborn on Dec. 1, 2008 in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Larry Arthur.

Survivors include one brother, Tyler Rucker; three sisters, Whitney Nelson, and Brittany and Bailey Rucker, at home; maternal grandparents, Sherry Williams of Ashland, James and Frances Alley of Catlettsburg; and paternal grandmother, Rosa M. Meeks of Ashland.

Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg is in charge of arrangements.



Bruce Young - 1919-2008

Bruce Young, age 89, of Camp Dix, Ky., passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 30, 2008, in Golden Living Center in Vanceburg, Ky.

He was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Fred Nelson and Roberta Howard Young.

Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew him. He was a retired shoe factory employee and a lifelong farmer. Bruce loved growing fruits and vegetables and giving them to others to enjoy. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Freddie Young and Jackie Wayne Young; two brothers, Tom Young and George Young; and three sisters, Opal Stafford, Dorothy Word and Irene Shuey.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wilma Rigdon Young; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Stafford of Vanceburg and Connie and Jim Heddleston of Camp Dix; three grandchildren, Melissa Bentley, Kristy McGrew and Steven Heddleston; four great-grandchildren, Mason Bently, Rachel Bentley, Katie McGrew and Delaney McGrew; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred Jr. and Robena Young of Vanceburg; and one sister, Emma Jordan of Vanceburg. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral serivce will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix with Brother Dale Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in Liles Cemetery in Camp Dix.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today and until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rick Butler, Allen Butler, Derek Butler, Jerry Wilburn, Jim Hamilton and Tom Shuey will serve as pallbearers.



Jimmy Howard

Jimmy Howard, 62, of Columbia, S.C., died suddenly Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph East Hospital Emergency Room in Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Clayton Howard; and by a daughter, Alison Nicole Pope.

Survivors include his father, Remus Howard of Columbia, Ky.; his wife, Judy Harris Howard of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Russell, Ky.; two daughters, Stephanie and her husband Greg Watson of Lexington and Elizabeth Howard of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one son, Richard Pope of Lexington; and five grandsons, Stewart James Watson, Jacob Marshall Watson, Tyler Harris Pope, Brandon Alexander Pope, and Matthew Nicholas Pope.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in Columbia, Ky., with cremation following.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cancer Research Center at the University of South Carolina, 14 Richland Memorial Park, Suite 500, Columbia, SC 29203. These will be left at the funeral home.

Visitation was after 11 a.m. Monday.

A celebration of life service will be held later in the week at Dunbar Funeral Home in Columbia, S.C.



Keith Cox - 1964-2008

Keith Allen Cox, 44, of Ashland, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born Sept. 29, 1964, in Ashland.

His wife, Christina Elaine Collins Cox, survives.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, Ohio. Burial will be in Community Cemetery.

Barbara Bentley

Barbara Jean Carrell Bentley, 75, of South Shore, died Nov. 27, in Baytown, Texas.

She was born in Lockbourne, Ohio.

Her husband, Robert Jack Bentley, died in 1988.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Collier Memorial Gardens Cemetery in South Portsmouth.

Rosemary Messemore - 1946-2008

Rosemary Baker Messemore, 62, of Grayson, died Nov. 26 in Palm Springs, Calif.

She was born July 28, 1946, in West Virginia.

Vearlissia Vanhoose - 1938-2008

Vearlissia Cantrell Vanhoose, 70, of Nippa, died Monday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

She was born Oct. 4, 1938, in Lawrence County.

Her husband, Kermit C. Vanhoose, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Roy Meadows Cemetery in Nippa.
