Ellis Quenton Salyers - 1925-2009
Ellis Quenton Salyers, 83, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Carter County, a son of the late Richard and Mary Hern Salyers.
Quenton served in the Korean War and was a retired auto parts salesman. He was a member of Globe Christian Church, where he had served as Sunday school secretary/treasurer and a deacon and was presently serving as an elder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Otto Salyers and Ted Salyers; and two sisters, Irene Salyers and Ruby Salyers Haney.
Quenton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Magene Tackett Salyers; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Merry Salyers of Olive Hill; a granddaughter, Miranda Salyers of Johnson City, Tenn.; a grandson, Randan Salyers of Olive Hill; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty Salyers of Oakland; a sister-in-law, Jean Salyers of Davie, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Chlebek of Dayton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Brenda (and Dick) Davis of Tipp City, Ohio; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by the Rev. David Rayburn, the Rev. Eddie Porter and the Rev. Shaun Whitt. Burial will be in Garvin Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Quenton’s memory to Gideons International, P.O. Box 931, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Robert E. Lee - 1934-2009
Robert E. Lee, 75, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in SOMC Hospice Center.
He was born July 17, 1934, in Pikeville, Ky., a son of the late Orville and Edith Lee.
He was retired from Aristech Chemical and loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Eshem Lee; two sons, J.R. (Angie) Liles of Greenup, Ky., and James Lee of Panama City, Fla.; three daughters, Jane Lee Moore (Jim) of Ashland, Ky., Lisa Lee Lowry (Rick) of Lexington, Ky., and Robin Bentley (Mark) of New Boston, Ohio; a sister, Jeanette Grundin; a brother, Tim Lee; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Lee, Jamie (Alisha) Lee, Taylor Lee, Blake Liles, Maverick Liles, Haylee Liles, Elizabeth Bentley, Danille Bentley, Kristy Moore, Julie Moore and David Seiler; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Riley, Robert Lee, Hayden, Tristen and Trenton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Jack Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roscoe Edward Stephens, 83, of Maloneton, died Thursday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Barbara Coleman - 1924-2009
Barbara Aileen Paynter Coleman, 85, of Olive Hill, died Wednesday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born June 29, 1924, in Carter County.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill. Burial will be in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.

William “Todd” Browning
William “Todd” Browning, 30, of Hi Hat, died Tuesday in Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington.
The funeral will be at noon today at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Lawson Cemetery in Hi Hat.
Delilah Perry
Delilah Roach Perry, 55, of Frenchburg, died Wednesday at her residence.
Her husband, Jimmy Perry, survives.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg. Burial will be in Ginter Cemetery in Leatherwood.

The Rev. James “Kenny” Hamilton - 1943-2009
The Rev. James Kenneth “Kenny” Hamilton, 66, of Morehead, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1943.
His wife, Linda Adkins Hamilton, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mable Patton Prater, 96, of Salyersville, died Wednesday.

Her husband, Robert Earl Tucker, preceded her in death.

Chester Patton, 90, of Winston-Salem, N.C., formerly of Prestonsburg, died Tuesday in Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.
He was born June 16, 1919.
His wife, Evelyn Faye Harris Patton, preceded him in death.
