Eva Gibson (1928-2009)

Eva Guenther Gibson, 81, of Catlettsburg, peacefully rests with Jesus after her passing late Thursday evening, Oct. 29, 2009, from King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Gibson was a daughter of the late August and Catherine Parsons Guenther, born June 19, 1928, in Huntington, W.Va. She enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening and watching her birds, but her greatest pleasure was time spent with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of New Life Church in Huntington, W.Va.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by eight children, Joseph Russell Gibson, Joel David Gibson, Paul Timothy Gibson, Jean Johnson and her husband Larry, Debbie Thompson and her husband Willard, Kelli DeBoard and her husband Doug, all of Catlettsburg, Robin Pennington of Ashland, and Teresa Ewing and her husband Rick of Lima, Ohio. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John A. Gibson; and two daughters, Jonene Harris and Judith Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gibson will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. A message of hope and inspiration will be offered by Rev. Dwight Barker. Final resting place will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.

Those wishing to call on the Gibson family may do so between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Mary Helen Kilgore Tackett (1921-2009)

Mary Helen Kilgore Tackett, 88, of Flatwoods, Ky., with a smile on her face and arms stretched to the sky, peacefully slipped away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at her home. She was born Sept. 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Wilford and Alice Grubb Kilgore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Woodrow “Woody” Tackett; a daughter, Regina Carol Tackett; a son, Robert “Bob” Tackett; and two sisters, Maxine Tackett and Betty Browning.

She was born and raised in Greenup County, Ky., and was a feisty, high energy lady, a homemaker who enjoyed her family and was well known for her beautiful sewing abilities. She loved her pets, especially her two cockatiels.

Surviving are her husband, Emzie McKenzie of Flatwoods; four sons and four daughters-in-law, David and Willa Tackett of Greenup, Elwood and Shirley Tackett of Greenup, Danny Joe and Robin Tackett of Ona, W.Va. and Darrell and Ann Tackett of Ashland; three daughters, Linda Reffett and Maxine Spears, both of Greenup, and Ruth Tackett and her husband Darrell Vincent of Raceland; 34 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; a loving and exceptionally close sister, Ena Nelson, and brother, Lige Kilgore, both of Greenup; and special friends, Gwen Clark and Kevin Furnish.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by the Rev. Tom Heaberline. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Sam Morgan, Tracy Brown, Steve Tackett, Eugene Tackett, Jason Poplin and her neighbor, Dennis Cochran.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.



Matthew Joseph George (1977-2009)

Matthew Joseph George, 32, of Ashland, died Thursday in Community Hospice Care Center. He was born Aug. 20, 1977, in Ashland. His wife, Jessica George, survives.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. There will be a prayer service at 11 a.m. Condolences can be made to www.malonefuneralhome.com.



Melodie Wilson (1957-2009)

Melodie Wilson, 52, of Rush, died Thursday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Arrangements are incomplete at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.



Anna Lee Watts (1930-2009)

Anna Lee Watts, 79, of Westwood, died Saturday at her home following an extended illness. Her husband, James E. Watts, preceded her in death.

Arrangements are pending at Preston Family Funeral Home.



Avinell Maxine Fannin May

Avinell Maxine Fannin May, 83, of Sarasota, Fla., died Wednesday at her residence. She was born in South Shore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vermal H. May.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Anna Lambert (1933-2009)

Anna Lambert, 76, of Grayson, died Saturday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland.

Arrangements are incomplete at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.



Inis Justice

Inis Justice, 88, of Jamestown, Ohio, formerly of Stambaugh, died Friday in Ohio.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sparks Cemetery in Blaine.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service today at the funeral home.



Mattie Conley Adams

Mattie Conley Adams, 89, of Salyersville, died Saturday.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Anna Carol Ferguson Fairchild

Anna Carol Ferguson Fairchild, 71, of West Van Lear, died Friday at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. Monday.



Johnnie Preston Hamm (1933-2009)

Johnnie Preston Hamm, 76, of Morehead, died Saturday at his residence of natural causes. He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Carter County. His wife, Lillie Stevens Hamm, survives.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Adams-Plank Cemetery on Cranston Road.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.



Evelyn Hughes

Evelyn Hughes, 80, of Tollesboro died Friday in Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville.

Arrangements are incomplete at Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix.
