Linda Buckland (1948-2009)
Linda Anderson Buckland, 60, of Troy, Ala., formerly of Ashland, Ky., passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Ala., after a brief illness.
Linda was born Nov. 20, 1948, the daughter of the late Kenneth Anderson and Kathryn Anderson Highfield and stepfather Mose Highfield. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Jim Buckland, in 2006.
Linda was born and raised in Ashland. She was a 1966 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School. Linda was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, crafts and playing bingo.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy York of Ashland; a son, James (Jamie) Buckland of Catlettsburg; grandsons Jacob and Shane York of Ashland; sister Patty (Tom) Strother of Ashland; sisters-in-law Theresa Ferguson and Debbie Buckland Alexander of Ashland and Sue Buckland of Catlettsburg; aunts Nancy Scott and Christine Scarberry of Ashland and Betty Jo Salyer of Greenup; uncle Paul Anderson of Flatwoods; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland with Jimm Smedley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Linda’s name to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
Kaylee Ann Finley (2007-2009)
Kaylee Ann Finley, age 22 months, daughter of Thomas Finley II and Kayla Nichole Ray of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 2007 in Ashland.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Natalee Marie Finley in 2006; her maternal grandmother, Paula Ray on Oct. 6, 2009; and her paternal grandfather, Thomas Finley.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandfather, Gary Ray of Ashland; her paternal grandmother, Vaneesa (Robert) Haney of Ashland; her maternal great-grandmother, Roberta Ferguson of Cannonsburg, Ky.; her maternal great-grandfather, Proctor Smith of Blaine, Ky.; uncles Gary Ray Jr. and his girlfriend, Jessica Stewart, and William Ray and Cody Ray, all of Rush; aunt Amy (Mike) French of Flatwoods, Ky.; cousins Aaliyah, Harmony and Jada Ray and Brook French; great-aunts Jennifer Ferguson and Shelia (William) Morrison of Ashland; and great-uncles Jonathan Ferguson of Ashland and Stacey Ferguson of Blaine, Ky.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Debra Middleton (1956-2009)
Debra Kay West Childers Middleton, 52, of Rush, now rests with the Lord after her passing on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009.
Mrs. Middleton was born Dec. 26, 1956, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of Betty Duvall Thompson of Ashland and the late Earl “Buddy” West Sr.
Debra was a bus monitor for the Boyd County School District, a member of the Catlettsburg Boyd Optimist Club and attended Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with all her family.
Survivors include her loving husband, Homer Ray Middleton; two sons, James Cecil Childers Jr. and William Shaun (Amanda) Childers, all of Catlettsburg; three daughters, Tiffany Nicole Middleton of Rush and Jackie Lynn (Lonnie Henderson) Blanton and Patricia Rae (Scott) Steele, both of Ashland; three brothers, Everett Daniels of Ashland and Earl “Buddy” West Jr. and Rusty West, both of Catlettsburg; four sisters, Sandy Smith and Shelia Daniels, both of Ashland, and Tammy Gussler and Renda Clark, both of Catlettsburg; 14 grandchildren; a special niece, Breanna Easterling; a special nephew, Coty Booth; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg officiated by Pastors Keith Crum and Denver Prater. Final rest will follow a committal at Catlettsburg Cemetery.

Helen Margurite Rogers (1922-2009)
Mrs. Helen Margurite Rogers, 87, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.
She was born May 27, 1922, in El Paso, Ill., the daughter of the late Dee and Bertha Virgin Floyd. She worked for 15 years as a schoolteacher for the Rock Hill School District. Helen was a faithful member of Plymouth Heights Nazarene Church in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, and a former member of First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Rogers, whom she married on April 13, 1940; a sister, Maxine Boggs; and two brothers, John and Carl Floyd.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Eugene Parks of Tipp City, Ohio, and Denise and Richard Fraley of Ironton; a daughter, Rebecca Rogers of Ironton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Susan Rogers of Coal Grove, Ohio, and David and Marilyn Rogers of Russell, Ky.; a son, Kenneth Rogers of Ironton; two sisters, Doris Gibson of Vallejo, Calif., and Lucille McFann of Charleston, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home in Ironton with Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating. Interment will be in Haverhill Cemetery in Haverhill, Ohio.
The family will receive friends after noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Ronald Chapman
Ronald Ray Chapman, 67, of Anderson, S.C., husband of Donna Y. Chapman, died Wednesday.
He was born in Ashland.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ in Anderson.

Jeff Owens
Jeff Owens, 81, of Paintsville, died Wednesday in J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa.
His wife, Geraldine Jenkins, survives.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Earl Warrens
Earl Warrens, 90, of Eastern, widower of Ova Mae Martin Warrens, died Wednesday at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin, Ohio.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery at Eastern.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
