Aline Lambert Kelley
Aline Lambert Kelley, 91, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009.
She was a native of Ashland, Ky., and retired as assistant vice president of Louisville Home Federal Savings and Loan. Aline was also a member of Middletown United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Kelley; parents, George and Adra Lambert; and a sister, Betty L. Bergdoll.
Survivors include twin daughters, Jane K. Weitze (Ron) and Jean K. Cunningham (Ken Waters); son, Lawrence L. Kelley (Tammy); five grandchildren, Vernon, Christine, Sarah, Andrew and Elizabeth; and eight great-grandchildren, Briana, Noah, Shea, Harrison, Elizabeth, Kelsy, Jordon and Kaylie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middletown United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the parlor of Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville.
Memorial gifts may be made to her church or to Baptist Hospital East Palliative Care.
Marie Hanners (1927-2009)
Marie Hanners, age 82, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Magoffin County, Ky., a daughter of the late Ernie Risner and Ina Hensley Risner.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hanners in 2006; four brothers and one sister.
She was a homemaker and attended Holiness Church in Coal Grove, Ohio.
Surviving are eight children, Bob Hanners, Patricia Griffith and Les, Jimmy Hanners and Paula, Donna Hayes and Mike, Ernie Hanners and Missy, Johnny Hanners and Jonda, Joe Hanners and Cheryl and Ina Hanners and Randy; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Wallen Risner, Paul B. Risner and Hager Risner; and three sisters, Lucy, Darlene and Glossy.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Elmer Clayton “Biggin” Riffe (1944-2009)
Elmer Clayton “Biggin” Riffe, 64, of Greenup, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Riffe was born Nov. 19, 1944, in Wurtland, Ky., a son of the late Willard Sr. and Hazel Burns Riffe. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Talmadge, Gene, Elwood and Willard Jr.
Mr. Riffe retired from C&O car shops as well as Greenbo Lake State Park.
Surviving are one brother and his wife, Glenwood and Joanne Riffe of Raceland, Ky.; and one sister and her husband, Thelma and Elmer Claxton of South Shore, Ky. He is also survived by an extended family, Betty Jean Hunt of Greenup, Ky., Ronnie (Kathy) Hunt of Columbus, Ohio, Linda (Jim) Jordan of South Shore, Eddie (Libby) Hunt of Birmingham, Ala., Diane (Dan) Wells of Westwood, Ky., Carolyn (Carl) Davis of Ashland, Ky., Billy (Lysa) Hunt of Lloyd, Ky., Teresa (Mike) Bentley of South Portsmouth, Ky., Roberta (Mike) Phelps of Worthington, Ky., and Burtice Jr. (Penny) Hunt of South Shore. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.”
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland by Pastor Kenny Martin. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd.

Betty Messer Carper (1925-2009)
Betty Carper, 84, of Grayson died Wednesday evening in Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown, Ky.
She was born Sept. 6, 1925, a daughter of the late Morton and Pearlie Justice Messer. In addition she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Carper in 1996; one daughter, Donna Carper; one son, Kenneth Ray Carper; two sisters, Earie Wilburn and Lois Messer; and two brothers, Howard and Elbert Messer.
She was a homemaker and mother, and is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Coy) Green and Kathy (Daryl) Moore, both of Georgetown; two sons, Russell Carper of Georgetown and Morton (Elaine) Carper of Grayson; three sisters, Flora Jordan, Opal Messer and Letha Carper, all of Grayson; one brother, Bruce Messer of Grayson; grandchildren, Ray Humphery, Stacy Dye, Anthony Carper, Casey Carper and Leann Woolums; and seven great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct.17, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with Harold Todd, minister.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. toniday, Oct. 16 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Carper, Ray Humphery, Casey Carper, Zachary Humphery, Jackie Dye and Tyler Prather. Burial will follow at the Horsley Cemetery near Rock Springs.

Raymond Craycraft (1926-2009)
Raymond Craycraft, 83, died Oct. 6 in Dunnellon, Fla.
He was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Kentucky.

Gloria Faye Moat Bates, 66, of Olive Hill, died Wednesday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born Nov. 25, 1942, in Tampa, Fla.

Connie Lou Triplett, 50, of Columbus, Ohio, died Tuesday in Columbus.
She was born Oct. 15, 1958, in Louisa.

Shirley Thacker (1934-2009)
Shirley Jeanette Thacker, 75, of Millard, died Wednesday at her residence.
She was born July 23, 1934. Her husband, Lunner Thacker, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Baptist Church. Burial will be in Annie E. Young Cemetery in Chloe.

Rettie Thacker Kendrick, 88, died Wednesday.
She was born July 30, 1921.
Her husband, Monroe Kendrick, preceded her in death.

Freida Holbrook
Freida Holbrook, 72, of West Liberty, died Wednesday in Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty.
Her husband, Wendell Holbrook, survives.

She was born March 2, 1924, in Coal Grove.
