Nora Mae Bailey - 1953-2009
Nora Mae Bailey, 56, of Ashland, formerly of Ironton, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in Ashland. She was born March 6, 1953, in Beckley, W.Va., to the late Lloyd Farmer and the late Ida Marie Lyons Davidson.
She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bailey. She is survived by two sons, William Joseph McFann and his wife Lisa, of Greenup, Ky., and Ronald David McFann Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Coal Grove, Ohio; a daughter, Ronda Sue McFann of Ashland; three sisters, Wanda Deathridge of Lexington, Ky., Linda Carter of Ironton, Ohio and Janet Unger of Texas; two brothers, Lloyd Farmer of Indianapolis, Ind. and Larry Farmer of Ironton, Ohio; twelve grandchildren, Katherine McFann, Elizabeth McFann, Samantha McFann, Rebecca McFann, Jacob Willis, Hannah Cassidy, Kaci Blair, Stephen Littlejohn, Christopher Littlejohn, Shannon Walburn, Mason Hogan and Morgan Hogan; one great-granddaughter, Madison Blair; and two very special friends, Mitzi Parsons and Lisa Henson, both of Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Floyd A. Paris officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Billy Mullins - 1936-2009
Billy Mullins, 73, of Ashland, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at King’s Daughter’s Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1936, in Ashland to the late Cecil and Lula McKenzie Mullins. He was retired from Armco Steel and a peacetime Air Force Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Daniels. He is survived by two sons, David Mullins and his wife Stephanie of Benton Harbor, Mich. and Kevin Mullins of Ashland; a twin brother, Bobby Mullins and his wife Marie of Ashland; former wife, Elaine K. Mullins of Ashland; two grandsons, Tyler Mullins and Michael Mullins, a nephew, Bobby J. Mullins; and niece Paulette Daniels.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home with Brother Mike Greene officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Garry Ray Sanders
Mr. Garry Ray Sanders, 64, of Boone, N.C., passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at his home.
Gary was a devoted countryman serving his country in two branches of service, the US Army and US Air Force. He was also a Vietnam Veteran. He was a 35 year member of The Loyal Order of the Moose and The Moose Legion.
Gary is the son of the late Raymond and Clara Nelson Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Creech Sanders.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Rochelle Langston Sanders of the home; son, Chad Sanders of Ashland, Ky.; daughter, Crissy Sanders of Boone; stepdaughters, Davida Langston of Virginia Beach, Va. and Denise Langston Nixon and husband, Tyson, of Liberty, N.C.; grandson, Jack Sanders of Ashland, Ky.; granddaughter, Kayla Helmick of the home; and brother Terry Sanders of Columbia, S.C.
Funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the Hampton Funeral Service Chapel in Boone, N.C. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Loretta Kemper - 1933-2009
Loretta M. “Tudy” Kemper, 76, of South Shore, formerly of Ashland, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, in the South Shore Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born March 9, 1933, in Ashland to the late John Lunsford and Nellie Davidson.
She was retired from Greenbo State Park.
Her husband, Marion “Doc” Kemper preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call 1 hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Frances Coburn - 1933-2009
Frances Coburn, 76, of Raceland, Ky. passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at her residence.
Mrs. Coburn was born June 28, 1933, in Platform, Ohio to the late Archie and Edna Jeffers Faulkner. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Coburn Sr.; a son, William B. “Junior” Coburn Jr.; and a brother, William Faulkner.
She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was also a member of Worthington Nazarene Church where she was very active with the children in the church by teaching primary classes in Sunday School, working with the Junior Church, and helping with Vacation Bible Schools.
Survivors include two sons, Marty Coburn of Jacksonville, Fla. and Dale (Kim) Coburn of Flatwoods, Ky.; two daughters, Teresa Coburn of Raceland, Ky. and Rita (Tony) Helms of Worthington, Ky.; a special daughter-in-law, Melody Riesbeck; seven grandchildren, Burletta (Khaldon) Jundi, April (Michael) Burcham, Amy (Ray) Webb, Jason (Heather) Coburn, Joshua Coburn, Erin (Brad) Lowe and Bryan Coburn; and ten great-grandchildren, Maya, Macy and Rania Jundi, Katie and Bryson Burcham, Sydney and Tyler Webb, Alyssa and Kaileah Coburn, and Connor Lowe; two sisters, Lillian Hartsaw of Raceland, Ky. and Ruth (Lewis) Voyers of Raceland, Ky.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Worthington Nazarene Church. Rev. Paul Neal will officiate. burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky.
Dollie Stevens Barker Sammons
Dollie Stevens Barker Sammons, 96, of Olive Hill, died Sunday in Imogene Doolin Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill.
Essie Gue Smith
Essie Gue Smith, 77, of Kenova, W.Va. died Sunday at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.
Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
Elvis Stambaugh - 1959-2009
Elvis Lee Stambaugh, 50, of Louisa, died Saturday after a short illness. He was born April 2, 1959 in Paintsville. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Webb.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Freedom Tabernacle Church in Webbville. Burial will be at Stambaugh Family Cemetery.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the church.
Dean Rudd - 1956-2009
Dean Rudd, 52, of West Liberty, died Friday at his residence. He was born Dec. 6, 1956, in Morgan County to the late Lukes and Inez Havens Rudd. Carol Sue Rudd is his wife.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Rudd Cemetery in Grassy Creek.
