Ernest E. “Bud” Brown (1925-2009)
Ernest E. “Bud” Brown, 84, of Worthington, Ky. who formerly lived for 20 years in Memphis, Tenn. and Marengo, Ohio for 12 years, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. after an apparent heart attack at his home where he fell from an apple tree.
Mr. Brown was born May 12, 1925, in Sciotoville, Ohio, a son of the late Henry and Oma Skeens Brown.
Mr. Brown was retired from the Memphis Defense Depot, an United States WWII Army veteran, a POW for 291 days in Germany, a member and usher of the Melrose Methodist Church in Worthington, former member of the Greenup County Fair Board, loved to hunt and was the best husband in the world.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kathryn Michelle Brown; two sisters, Eileen Allen and Sue Baldridge.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Miller Brown; two sons, James Roger Brown of Worthington and Billy Joe (Diane) Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Karen Craft of Wurtland, Ky; three brothers, Willis Brown of Marysville, Ohio, Don Brown of Flatwoods, Ky., Howard Brown of Lynn, Ky.; one sister Beulah Dillow of South Shore, Ky.; six grandchildren, Emily Brown, Jeff Brown, Blake Brown, Joshua Craft, Chris Craft, and Amy Craft; and two great-grandchildren, Alexa Craft and Taylor Craft.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Rev. Frank Wallace. Burial will be in the Hale Cemetery, Brushy Road, Lynn, Ky. with military rites being conducted by James L. Flannery American Legion, Post 276, South Shore, Ky.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and one hour before the service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Darlene Porter (1950-2009)
Darlene Prince Porter, 59, of Grayson, Ky. went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born May 8, 1950, in Grayson, a daughter of the late Homer and Mabel Moore Prince.
Darlene was a certified nursing assistant and a member of the Dixie Park Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Garnett Brunton and Magle Wilburn.
Her survivors include: one son, Steven Porter of Grayson; two daughters, Tammy Withrow and Rhonda Dickerson, both of Grayson; four sisters, Pearl Nelson of Grayson, Charlene Conn of Sandy Hook, Ky., Ethel Branham of Ohio and Eunice Damron of Grayson; three brothers, Roy Prince, Earsel Prince and Edward Prince, all of Grayson; and five grandchildren, Ashlie Withrow, Kim Withrow, Tyler Withrow, Beanna Porter and Aries Dickerson.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Terry Harris officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Jo Leavitt (1946-2009)
Mary Jo Leavitt, 62, of Alexandria, passed away Sept. 9, 2009, at her residence after a sudden illness.
She was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Elwood and graduated from Swayzee High School in 1964. She lived in Anderson most of her life and worked for Dr. Irwin in Alexandria.
She was a member of Harmony Christian Church, where she was very active.
She is survived by her mother, Helen Miller of Elwood; daughters, Kathy (husband, Tony) McCord and Christy Leavitt, all of Pendleton; grandchildren, Clint McCord and Caitlynn McCord, both of Pendleton; sister, Sandy (husband, Ed) Smith of Elwood; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Minnie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Michael Leavitt, in 1996; daughter, Joella Leavitt; father, Rex E. Miller; and grandparents, Everett and Zelpha Leachman.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson, Ind., with Rev. Ron Meyer. Burial will be at Knox Chapel Cemetery in Fairmount.
Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Mike Leavitt Scholarship Fund c/o Kentucky Christian University, 100 Academic Parkway, Grayson, KY 41143.

Joel Callicoat (1975-2009)
Joel Allen Callicoat, 34, of Ashland, husband of Stephanie Staten Callicoat, died at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are pending with Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland.
Ronald Gammon
Ronald Keith Gammon, age 56, of Ashland, formerly of South Shore, died Friday at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
Dustin Jackson
Dustin Edwin Jackson, 33, of Stockton, Calif., formerly of Grayson, passed away Thursday in Stockton.
Arrangements are incomplete at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.
Vileta Williamson (1939-2009)
Vileta Cooper Williamson, 70, of Clearfield died Thursday at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1939.
Her husband, Paul M. Williamson, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Harvey Childers (1920-2009)
Harvey Childers, 89, of Pike County, died Sept. 5.
He was born March 10, 1920, in Fostoria, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his wife Avenell Childers.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Annie E. Young Cemetery located in Chloe.
Thacker Funeral Home in Pikeville is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Chaney (1926-2009)
Robert J. Chaney, 82, of Morehead, died Wednesday at Boyd Nursing and Rehab Center in Ashland.
He was born Nov. 22, 1926, and is preceded in death by his wife Daisy Mae Nicholson Chaney.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Brown Cemetery with military honors.

Edra Kisor (1937-2009)
Edra Irene Kisor, 72, of Ironton died Thursday at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1937, in Magoffin County, Ky.
Her husband, James Lewis “Jim” Kisor, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Woodland Chapel Church.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton.
