Timothy Marshall (1949-2008)
Timothy Alan Marshall, 59, formerly of Russell, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008
He was born on April 2, 1949, in Greensburg, Pa., the son of the late Charles Maurice “Wit” and Tesolena Eneix Marshall. He was a graduate of Belpre High School in Belpre, Ohio, Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, and Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. He was a member of Russell First Christian Church in Russell and was a member of the Masonic lodge in Belpre. He worked for Veolia Environmental Services in Ashland, Ky., for 29 years in various management, safety and sales positions.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Tracy Marshall; three children, Beth and Todd Marshall of Fishers, Ind., and Whitney (Matt) Marshall Hrastich of Rolla, Mo. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Lucas and Abby Hrastich, all of Rolla.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at The Promise United Methodist Church, 12648 E. 116th St. in Fishers, with a service to follow. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Parkersburg, W.Va., at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Russell First Christian Church in Russell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, Belpre, Ohio, or St. Vincent’s Hospice in Indianapolis, Ind.

Lennon Spears (1937-2008)
Lennon Spears, 71, of Flatwoods, died early Friday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell after a brief hospitalization.
He was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Culp Creek, the son of the late Morgan and Hazel Litteral Spears. He was the husband of Mary Nolan Spears, who survives.
Mr. Spears, before his retirement, owned and operated several businesses in the area to include a construction company that built houses throughout the area since 1960. He also founded the Appliance Warehouse and Kitchens Unlimited.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ed and Warren Spears, and his sisters, Gladys Stevenson, Ruth Grizzle and Georgia Smith.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dr. Michelle Spears of Salado, Texas; two sisters, Betty Collier of Flatwoods and Magalene Fraley of Wurtland; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jack Edwards.
Friends and family may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Joyce Hunter (1942-2008)
Joyce A. Hunt Hunter, 65, of Load, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at the residence of her daughter.
She was born Dec. 28, 1942, in Greenup County, the daughter of the late Allen W. and Erma Cook Hunt. She was the wife of Clifford Earl Grubb, who passed away in 1976.
She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and sister and attended Lloyd Community Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Ray Hunt and Charles Edward Hunt.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Clifford Earl and Eugenia Grubb Jr. of Middletown, Ohio; four daughters and their husbands, Joy and Rick Collier of Load, Lynn and Rock Reeves of South Shore and Robin and Eddie Lovelace and Raelene and Terry Stephens, all of Greenup; a brother, Ralph Hunt of Greenup; two sisters, Helen Paul of Marion, Ohio, and Paulette Boggs of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Osborne Cemetery in Load.

Robert Fannin (1939-2008)
Robert Lance “Bob” Fannin, 68, of Georgetown, died Thursday at his home.
He was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Minnie, son of Juanita Fannin Osborn of Greenup. He was the husband of Dorothy Ann Sipps Fannin, who survives.
He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Georgetown Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth Osborn, and a daughter, Malinda Sue Fannin.
Survivors, in addition to his mother and wife, include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Matthew and Trisha Fannin of Georgetown; and six brothers, Roy Osborn of Greenup, Ronnie Osborn of Flatwoods, Larry Osborn of Richmond, Denver Osborn of Georgetown and Ted Osborn and Rick Osborn of Greenup.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wurtland Church of God by Bishop Henry Montgomery and Pastor Rick Hamilton. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850 of Ironton, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Kasey Hope Pollard (2005-2008)
Miss Kasey Hope Pollard, age 3, of Emerson, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 28, 2008, on Old Trace Road in Lewis County, from injuries she received in an automobile accident while on her way to school.
Little Kasey was born March 14, 2005, in Rowan County, the daughter of Roy Ivan Pollard Jr. and Bonnie Sue Butler, both of Lewis County.
She was enrolled in Laurel Elementary School in the preschool class, having attended only one day.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Roy Ivan Pollard Sr., and her maternal grandfather, Vinson Butler.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include three sisters, Latoria Beth Pollard, Latosha Brook Pollard and Sierra Grace Butler, all of Emerson; her paternal grandmother, Ruth Clark of Morehead; her maternal grandmother, Sally Richmond Butler of Emerson; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members who will sadly miss her.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix by Brothers Jim Porter, Hansel Butler and Charlie Riggs. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery on Highway 59 in Lewis County.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Easterling, Tony Easterling, Nick Butler, Leroy Richmond, Fred Pollard and Jimmie Easterling. Larry Stacy Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Betty Ritchie
Betty Scarberry Ritchie, 72, of Catlettsburg, died Friday at her residence.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Neal Funeral in Catlettsburg.

Lowell Hayden (1923-2008)
Lowell Mitchell Hayden, 84, of South Shore, died Friday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Fullerton.
His wife, Lila Izetta Allen Hayden, survives.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore.
There will be no visitation.

Earl Cassity (1945-2008)
Earl Claude Cassity, 62, of Olive Hill, died Friday in St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

John Clay Jr. (1982-2008)
John Paul Clay Jr., 26, of Louisa, died Wednesday.
He was born Aug. 13, 1982, in Louisa.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Ratliff Cemetery at Clifford.

Sammy Thompson Sr. (1940-2008)
Sammy E. Thompson Sr., 68, of Olive Hill, died Friday at his residence.
He was born June 10, 1940.
His wife, Yvonne Porter Thompson, survives.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in Paul Porter Cemetery on Goodan Creek.

Edith Ousley
Edith Ousley, 81, of Richmond, formerly of Langley, died Friday in Berea.
Her husband, Jimmie Ousley, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home Chapel in Martin. Burial will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.

Clyde George (1921-2008)
Clyde Eugene George, 87, of Prestonsburg died Thursday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 12, 1921.
His wife, Lois Adams George, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.

Charletta M. Monfort, 74, of Sandy Hook, died Thursday in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
