Eula Houlehan (1922-2008)
Eula K. Houlehan, 86, of Ashland, died Tuesday in King’s Daughters and Sons in Ashland.
She was born June 10, 1922, in Paintsville, the daughter of the late James N. and Lula Wheeler Kennard. She was the wife of the late Edward E. Houlehan.
Most recently, she attended South Ashland United Methodist Church and was an enthusiastic member of the Ashland Senior Center. She was a graduate of Ashland High School and Bowling Green Business College in Bowling Green, Ky. She was a 2001 recipient of the Poage Elementary School Volunteer of the Year award for her work as a reading volunteer.
Her married life began with her loving husband, Edward, in 1951, in what was then a very remote and wild Fairbanks, Alaska. Longing for family brought a return to Ashland in 1960, which has been Eula’s home ever since.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, William Paul Kennard; and two sisters, Nettie K. Solter and Ruie K. Kelley.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Barbara Houlehan of Louisville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jayne H. and Terrence Lang of Wilmington, N.C., and Paula H. and Dean Qualls of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother, James (J.C.) Kennard and his wife, Delores, of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Edward Houlehan and Cara Houlehan of Lexington, Thomas (T.R.) Lang and Brian Lang of Wilmington, N.C., Dustin (Courtney) Qualls of Albuquerque, N.M., Colleen (Donald) Purcell of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Darren (D.J.) Qualls of Pittsburgh, Pa.; stepgrandchildren Chris (Lori) Lang of Wilmington and Samantha Lang of Lexington; great-grandchildren Delaney Qualls of Albuquerque, N.M., and Liam Purcell of Daytona Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to raising her three children, she was instrumental in the development and lives of Carol Kelley, her niece, and Greg Rice and Amy McGrosky Wells, all of whom she loved as her own children.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Lance Campbell. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Edna Weldon-Yakimovicz
Edna Sue Weldon-Yakimovicz, 76, of Ashland, formerly of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in Ashland.
She was retired from Dun & Bradstreet as a personnel director. She was also a former employee of the Buddeke Co.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Myrtle Gilliam, and her brother, Perry Gilliam.
Sue was survived by a loving spouse of 12 years, Jack Yakimovicz; four nephews, Randy, Steve, Donnie and Greg Gilliam; a niece, Sandra Gaffney; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Gilliam.
Her stepchildren include Richard Skees, Malinda Denny, John Yakimovicz, Jackie Richardson and David Yakimovicz.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m .Saturday at Oldham County Funeral Home, 706 W. Jefferson St., LaGrange. Cremation will follow and burial will be at a later date in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Maclin Fearing (1928-2008)
Maclin H. Fearing died in his home near Cincinnati the morning of July 30. His family was with him.
He was born in Ashland in 1928 to Dr. Oliver Fearing and Myra Wagner. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1945, lettering in football.
In 1948 he joined the Army, ending up as a 101st Airborne Forward Observer in Korea. Home from the war, he finished his education and went into the food and growing businesses until retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Cotten Fearing; their son, James Maclin Fearing; grandchildren Christopher James and Jennifer Christine, all of Cincinnati; a brother, Oliver Fearing of Huntington, W.Va.; and sisters Mary Hills of Port Orange, Fla., and Melissa Hasbrouck of Lawrence, N.J.
He was buried in Brookside Cemetery In West Chester, Ohio. He is greatly missed.
Alonzo Morris
Alonzo E. Morris, 71, of Ironton, Ohio, died Wednesday at his residence.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in McGuire Cemetery in Greenup.

John Boggs (1935-2008)
John Taylor Boggs, 73, of Blaine died Tuesday.
He was born Feb. 10, 1935, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Jan. 24, 1928, in New Boston, Ohio.
His wife, Helen Legg Weddington, survives.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Potter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Caskey Cemetery in West Liberty.

Lenola Gregory (1919-2008)
Lenola Brown Gregory, 89, of Morehead, died Wednesday at her residence.
She was born April 10, 1919.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in Clearfield Cemetery.

Bill Weddington (1928-2008)
Bill Weddington, 80, of West Liberty, died Tuesday at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Jan. 24, 1928, in New Boston, Ohio.
His wife, Helen Legg Weddington, survives.

Betty Taylor (1936-2008)
Betty Jean Johnson Taylor, 71, of Kitts Hill, died Tuesday in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
She was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Pedro. Her husband, Carl R. Taylor, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Hatfield Cemetery in Arabia.

Irvin W. Henderson (1933-2008)
Irvin W. Henderson, 75, of Kelley’s Bridge, died Tuesday at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1933, in Lawrence County. His wife, Florence Henderson, survives.
The funeral will be at noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
