Margaruiete Rose (1926-2008)
Margaruiete Mathews Rose, 82, of Ashland, formerly of Milton, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born Jan 3, 1926, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Cal and Virginia Robertson Mathews. Margaruiete was retired from the Perry Norvil Shoe Factory. She was a member of the Bethlehem Church of United Baptist in Kenova, W.Va.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Rose; a son, Bob Rose Jr. of Palmetto, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Rodney Keyser of Ona, W.Va., Anna and Mike Slone of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Darlene and Lee Osborne of Ocean Side, Calif.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters; four brothers; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and church family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Bethlehem Church of United Baptist in Kenova with Elders Richard Napier, J.D. Riggs and Jim Bacum officiating. Interment will be in Forest Memorial Park in Milton.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova and an hour before services Monday at the church.
Glen Willis (1933-2008)
Glen Edward Willis, 75, of Ashland, died Friday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born July 5, 1933, in Ironton, Ohio, the son of the late Garford and Leona Griffith Willis. He was a partner in Wil-Gra Builders for 30 years and worked in the marine industry the last 15 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the church council and a deacon for 25 years. He was a Kentucky colonel.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Irven Willis.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Peggy Moore Willis; three sons, Michael S. Willis of Ashland, Richard “Rick” Willis and his wife, Elizabeth, of Paducah and Jamie E. Willis and his wife, Dee, of Paducah; a brother, Donald Ray Willis and his wife, Shirley, of Wheelersburg; a sister, Betty Willis Shearer and her husband, Jerry, of Ironton; six grandchildren, Benjamin Willis, Steffanie Willis, Josh Willis, Brooke Crisp, Brian Willis and Laura Willis; and four great-grandchildren, Quentin Willis, Isaiah Willis, Kevin Willis and Caden Crisp.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Ashland by the Rev. Mark A. Kloha.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.

Elizabeth Smith (1916-2008)
Elizabeth Tackett Smith, 92, of Catlettsburg, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been residing since November 2005.
She was born March 27, 1916, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Perry and Jenny Tackett. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a newspaper carrier for The Daily Independent for 44 years and a member of Kenova Church of Christ for more than 20 years.
She was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband, Sgt. Earl Smith, of the Boyd County Police Department; three brothers, Virgil, Walter and James Tackett; and a sister, Effie Bowling.
She is survived by two daughters, Lillian “Lorene” Robinson and her husband, Steve, of Homestead, Fla., and Elizabeth F. Smith and her husband, Gary, of Richmond; a "son,” Eddie Smith and his wife, Pam, of Ashland; four grandchildren, Sharon Bird and her husband, Randy, of Richmond, Bobbie “B.J.” Neely of Miami, Joshua Hoyos of Richmond and Andrew Smith and his wife, Brittany, of Grayson; five great-grandchildren, Jacklynn “Mandy” Otis and her husband, Jason, of Lexington, Shannon Smith and her husband, Seth, of Florence, Marc Bird of Richmond, Amber Coleman and Kyleigh Smith; a great-great-grandchild, Alexandra Smith, and two more on the way; a sister, Dessie Newell and her husband, Gene, of Olive Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon, Monday, July 21, 2008, at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Ashland, with special words of comfort by Amos Prince, pastor of Kenova Church of Christ. Music will be by Samantha Anglin.
There will be no visitation.

Daniel Tuell (1939-2008)
Daniel E. Tuell, 69, of Raceland, peacefully entered the loving arms of his Savior surrounded by his caring family and friends on Friday, July 18, 2008.
He was born on April 23, 1939, in Ironton, the son of the late Charles Elmer and Louise Ruth Holtzaphel Tuell.
He was a retired trainmaster with CSX Transportation. He spent the last three years working construction with his son-in-law, Lance. He was a member of Raceland Christian Church, a former state officer for the Ohio Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of Moose Lodge 701, American Legion Post 43 and Amvets 95. He was a Kentucky colonel and served his country as a member of the U.S. Army for seven years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Marsha Ann Bledsoe Tuell; four children, Dana (Lance) Frazier of Lloyd, Tanya (John) Howell of Worthington, Jeri Tuell (fiancé Gary Higginbotham) of Raceland and Danny Brent (Vicki) Tuell of Flatwoods; and two brothers in-law he helped raise, Doug and David Bledsoe of Ohio.
He is also survived by the lights of his life, his five grandchildren, Charles and Emma Frazier, Lauren Howell, Jared Barnhart and Brycen Tuell. He was overjoyed by the recent news of another grandchild on the way.
Also surviving are three brothers, Charles Joseph (Phyllis) Tuell of Albuquerque, N.M., Edward Francis (Melba) Tuell of Oliver Springs, Tenn., and William Anthony (Tanya) Tuell of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two sisters, Cecelia Ann (Jim) Click of Coal Grove, Ohio, and Linda Sue (Gordie) Rowe of Haverhill, Ohio.
He leaves behind some very special friends, Nettie and John Austin, Ann and Dr. Elmer Mullins, Ben and Dona Fitts, Shawn and DesiRae Heighton and Teri Caproni.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Community Hospice for the excellent care he received and to his niece, Blanche Tuell, for caring for him in his final days. The family would also like to thank Jim Music for his direction and support.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Raceland Christian Church by Jim Matthews, pastor.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at the church.

John Pannell Jr. (1939-2008)
John Franklin Pannell Jr., 69, of Louisa, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2008.
He was born July 13, 1939, in Louisa, the son of the late John Franklin Pannell Jr. and Nancy Stevens Pannell Justice. He was the husband of Janet M. Cox Pannell, who survives. He was owner of J&J Appliance Repair and a member of Louisa Freewill Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Pannell and Donald Pannell.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, John Franklin (Teresa) Pannell III and Charles Kenneth “Chuck” Pannell; three grandchildren, John Franklin (Jennifer) Pannell IV, Cynthia Renee Pannell and Krista Nicole Pannell; two special great-granddaughters, Kiersten Dawn Pannell and Kara Dawn Pannell; a sister, Phyllis Shettler of Titusville, Fla.; and a host of friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Louisa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

David Blizzard (1956-2008)
David Leslie Blizzard, 52, of Portsmouth, Ohio, formerly of South Portsmouth, died Thursday in Portsmouth.
He was born Jan. 3, 1956, at Firebrick.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Collier Memorial Gardens Cemetery in South Portsmouth.
There will be no visitation.

Leona M. Brown, 85, of South Shore, died Saturday in Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Joshua Vint Hackworth, 23, of Pedro, died Thursday at his residence.
He was born Jan. 28, 1985, in Lawrence County.

Leona Reaper (1929-2008)
Leona Faye Reaper, 79, of South Point, died Friday in Heartland of Riverview in South Point.
She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Lawrence County.
Her husband, Lester Reaper, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.
