Florine Sanders Rowe
Florine Sanders Rowe, 87, widow of Roland Rowe, died June 29 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Before moving to Florida, she lived in Pikeville and Ashland, Ky.
She was born in Pike County, Ky., to the late Grover C. Sanders and Hazel Klaiber Sanders of Pike County, and Ormond Beach, Fla.
She is survived by three children, Jeffrey Todd Rowe of Daytona Beach, Grover C. Rowe of Humble, Texas, and Carol Reese (Lowell) of Frankfort, Ky.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Bobbie Petty of Louisville, Ky., and Dolores Carnes of Fayetteville, Ark.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Caudill.
Funeral arrangements were conducted by Cardwell and Maloney Funeral Home in Port Orange, Fla.
Lillian Rayne Boggs - 2007-2008
Lillian Rayne Boggs, 1-year-old daughter of Joshua and Amanda Vance Boggs of Ashland, died July 15, 2008, in Norton Health Care in Louisville, Ky.
She was born July 13, 2007, in Ashland.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by aunts Patricia Vance, Ericka Martin and Samantha Boggs; uncles Aaron Creech and Patrick Vance; great-aunts Michele Fisher and Angie Boggs; brother Logan Rife, at home; maternal grandparents, Gary Vance of Russell and Pamela Martin of Raceland and William and Teri Boggs of Ashland; and great-grandmother Lucille Vance of Russell.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Brian Steele. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Ernie C. Perry - 1921-2008
Ernie C. Perry, 87, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at his residence in Russell, Ky.
He was born March 13, 1921, at Blaze in Morgan County, the son of the late Estill Lee and Gussie Patrick Perry.
Mr. Perry was baptized many years ago and lived a Christian life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Vona Cassity Perry; three brothers, Corbitt, Ollen and Arnold; and two sisters, Versie and Verlie.
Mr. Perry is survived by a son, Ernie Dale (Sharon) Perry of Russell; two daughters, Rita (Jim) Patrick of Kenova, W.Va., and Donna (Charles) Morgan of Maysville, Ky. Other survivors include five grandsons, Michael Perry, David (Gina) Perry, Charlie (Sonya) Patrick, Ross Morgan and Brad (Lindsay) Morgan; a granddaughter, Sarah (Dana) Smith; a great-grandson, Warren Smith; and three great-granddaughters, Carmen Smith and Cassity and Isabella Patrick.
Additionally, he is survived by numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Perry served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1938 to 1939. Afterwards, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1940 and served until December 1946. He served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp CV-7 in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and South Pacific and survived the sinking of this ship at Guadalcanal in September 1942. Afterwards, he went aboard the newly commissioned Aircraft Carrier USS Princeton CVL-23 serving in Task Force 58 during nine South Pacific battles and survived the sinking of this ship at Leyte Gulf in October 1944. During his Navy service, he earned 12 Battle Stars. He was also at the two Bikini Atoll Atomic Bomb tests in 1946. After his Navy service, he came home to Morgan County, Ky., prior to moving to Greenup County in 1952. He worked at Allied Chemical in South Point, Ohio, until the plant closed. He returned to his love of farming and caring for the land.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers for their care and acts of kindness during his extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted by Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by minister David Roach. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Cassity Cemetery Fund. These may be made at the funeral home.

Daniel Brickey - 1929-2008
Daniel Brickey, 79, of Raceland, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1929, in Elliott County, the son of the late Hasque and Lily Laney Brickey.
Mr. Brickey was retired from General Motors in Columbus, Ohio, was of the Baptist faith and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two brothers, Estill and wife Dorothy Brickey and Chandler Brickey, all of Sandy Hook, Ky.; two sisters, Ivalene Kirby of Columbus, Ohio, and Sena Brickey of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook by Brother Roscoe Lewis Jr. and Brother Gary Sparks. Burial will be in Brickey Family Cemetery, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 11428.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Edna Davis Royster - 1931-2008
Edna Davis Royster, 76, of Buzzard Roost Road, Garrison, died Tuesday morning in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Virgil Lew and Haley Potter Davis. Mrs. Royster was a homemaker and a member of Carter City Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Homer Davis, Wade Davis, Wayne Davis and Joe Davis; and two sisters, Myrtle Neighbors and Virgina Cooper.
She is survived by her husband, Hobart Royster, of Garrison; three daughters, Brenda (Kenny) Louder of Big White Oak, Debra (Danny) Rhoden of Westwood and Jenny (Ricky) Burns of Garrison; two sons, Dale (Lisa) Royster of Garrison and Homer (Cheri) Royster of Garrison; seven grandchildren, Mandi (Tom) Shope, Paul Louder, Dennis Rhoden, Derick (Jessica) Rhoden, Daniel (Sunshine) Rhoden, Richard Burns and Mitchell Royster; seven great-grandchildren, Iven, Johnathan, Amy, Courtney, Gauge, Austin and Little Edna; a brother, John Davis of Michigan; and a sister, Ruthe Greene of Big Leatherwood.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Jimmy Potters. Burial will be in Grizzle Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, July 17, 2008, at the funeral home.

Clifford “Bicy” Lewis - 1947-2008
Clifford “Bicy” Lewis, 60, of Morehead, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Elliott County, the son of the late Humphurs and Linnie Conn Lewis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul William Lewis and Arnold Lewis.
Bicy was a carpenter, of the Baptist faith, a member of Ashland Carpenters Local 472 and an Army Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by a brother, Ricky and wife Debbie Lewis of Olive Hill, Ky.; a sister, Jeannie and husband Woody Flannery of Sandy Hook; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook by Brother Ricky Lewis and Brother Tim Lewis. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Carol Ramey - 1954-2008
Carolyn Sue Ramey, 54, of Sciotoville, died Monday, July 14, 2008, in OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born March 8, 1954, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Goble Yonts Sr. and Lucille Castle Yonts. She was an avid supporter of the East High School Band.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy Lee Ramey; a brother, Goble Jr.; and a sister, Ines Castle Murray.
Surviving are a son, Ralph Ramey; a daughter, Niki Ramey, both at home; a stepson, James Ramey of Minford; a stepdaughter, Sabrina Poole of New Boston; a brother, John Yonts of South Carolina; two sisters, Sharon Wolford of Wheelersburg and Jane Shover of West Portsmouth; and several stepgrandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville by Jeremy Wasch, minister.
Interment will be in Bailey’s Chapel Cemetery in Piketon.

Floyd Spradlin - 1935-2008
Floyd Paul Spradlin, 73, of Prestonsburg, died Wednesday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born Jan. 13, 1935.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery in Prestonsburg.

Gracie Ratliff - 1928-2008
Gracie Lee Blair Ratliff, 79, of Staffordsville, died Tuesday in Salyersville Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1928, in Ohio.
Her husband, Eli Ratliff Jr., survives.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.

Clyde Ratliff - 1931-2008
Clyde Ratliff, 77, of Paintsville, died Wednesday at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1931, in Johnson County.
His wife, Julia Howard Ratliff, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.
