Margaret B. Huff Porter - 1931-2008
Margaret Brewer Huff Porter, 77, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday evening in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Horne Brewer. Margaret was preceded in death by her frist husband, Lewis E. Huff, in 1957 and her second husband, Virgil Porter, in 2000; two sons, Rick and Ralph E. Huff; and six brothers and sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Huff (Judy) of South Point, Ohio, Danny Brewer of Dayton, Ohio, and Virgil Porter Jr. (Billie Jean) of Ashland; five daughters, Vicki Whitt (James) and Rebecca Jo Ann Branham, both of Greenup, Ky., Gail Brewer of Ashland and Margaret Teressa Johnson and Rachael Christine Litteral (John), both of Westwood, Ky.; four brothers, Gartrell Chandler of Grayson, Ky., Bob Brewer of Marion, Ohio, Charles Brewer of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Fred Brewer of Ashland; two sisters, Helen Yoder of Ashland and Ailene Comer of Coal Grove, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Donald Comer. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.

Donald R. Graham - 1929-2008
Donald R. Graham, 79, of Russell, Ky., died July 9, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1929, in Covington, Ky., a son of the late Roy Smith and Mae Gasser Graham. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rita F. Morgeson Graham.
He was a self-employed entrepreneur and a member of First Baptist Church of Russell and the Adult Sanctuary Choir. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna L. Graham of Russell, and a sister, Ruby Jean Graham Porter of Morehead, Ky.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at First Baptist Church of Russell by Ken Gowin. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, July 11 at the church.

Frank Lee Fortune - 1930-2008
Frank Lee Fortune, 77, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Wednesday morning at his home under Community Hospice care following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 4, 1930 in Lawrence County, Ohio, a son of the late Clifford and Elizabeth Crance Fortune. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from the Rolling Mill Department of Kentucky Electric Steel Corp.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Cordle Fortune, in 1998; his brother, Clifford Edward Fortune; and his sister, Patricia Maria Fortune.
Surviving are four daughters, Tracy and Theodore Adams of Flatwoods, Rhonda and Donald Pennington of Flatwoods, Lou Ann Fortune of Ashland, Ky., and Sherry and Carl Bowman of Catlettsburg; a sister, Donna Kelley of Ironton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Lateissa, Sabrina, David, Dean, Alisha and Keith; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Zach.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Terry Stiders. Burial will be in O’Brien Cemetery in Russell, Ky.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Adron Seth “Andy” Whisman - 1977-2008
Adron Seth “Andy” Whisman, 30, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Tuesday morning, July 8, 2008, in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., from injuries he received in an automobile accident while on his way to work. Seth was at no fault during this terrible tragedy.
Seth was born Dec. 14, 1977, in Rowan County, Ky., and is the son of Lynn and Reva Boggs Whisman of Olive Hill.
Seth graduated from West Carter High School in 1996 and was a telecommunications installer. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time playing with his nephew and nieces and hanging out with his friends. Seth was a member of Pleasant Valley Gospel Tabernacle.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Seth Whisman and Norma Hislip Whisman Jessie, and his maternal grandparents, Leonidas and Irene Horton Boggs.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Christy and Heath Patton of Olive Hill, Wendy and Jacob Green of Grayson, Ky., and B.J. Whisman of Olive Hill; and three nieces and a nephew, Hayla Patton, Solomon Patton, Hadessah Patton and Aalyah Patton. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Brother Randy Binion. Burial will be in Boggs Family Cemetery on Ross Chapel Road in Elliott County, Ky.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mike Oppenheimer, Rick Butler, Jeff Nolen, Bruce Layne, Ronnie Boggs, Mike P’Simer, Allen Porter, Vernon “Bunny” Duncan and Joey McCleese will serve as pallbearers.

Lucy Ellen Artrip, 78, of Drift, wife of Lawrence Artrip, died Tuesday in McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 10, 1929.

James Preston Jr. - 1932-2008
James Glenn Preston Jr., 76, of Winchester, died Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
He was born June 27, 1932.
His wife, Sharlene “Shirley” Crum Preston, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Entombment with military rites will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

Her husband, Edgar R. Payne, died in 1978.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton.
