Jerry Rigsby (1949-2008)
Jerry Dean Rigsby, 59, of Ashland, passed quietly from his residence July 1, 2008.
Mr. Rigsby was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Ashland, Ky., the son of the late Jay Edwin and Mary Woods Rigsby. He was a welder at CSX Raceland Car Shop, an avid fisherman and of the Baptist faith.
He leaves behind a sister, Donna Cordial, and her husband Jerry of Catlettsburg; four brothers, Gary Rigsby and his wife Jean of Catlettsburg, Allen Rigsby and his wife Joyce of Ashland, Steven Rigsby and his wife Donna of Catlettsburg and Kym Rigsby of Ashland; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family all to mourn his passing.
As well as his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Garnet Ann Cox.
A funeral service for Jerry Rigsby will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by his nephew, Pastor David Cordial. Final rest will follow in Rigsby Family Cemetery in Rush, Ky.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Harold Frank Dodd (1928-2008)
On July 3, 2008, Harold Frank Dodd boarded his last train “home, home” to be with his beloved wife Virginia and his Lord following a brief illness in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born June 27, 1928, in Hinton, W.Va., a son of the late George and Bessie Meadows Dodd.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Marie Boland; brothers, Charles, Earl, Jim and Rob Dodd; and a sister, Clara Dodd.
He was a FRA inspector with the C&O Railroad, a member of Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen (Kay) Dodd of Ashland and Gary (Faith) Dodd of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Melanie (James) Dodd of Pickerington, Ohio; a brother, Fred Dodd of Chesapeake, Va.; sisters, Lena Palos of Chesapeake and Liz Noble of Hinton; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7 at Church of Christ, 10th and Vine in Ironton, Ohio by Gary Dodd. Burial will be in Glen Rest Memorial Estates in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 6 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harold and Virginia Dodd Scholarship Fund at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn.
Sue Wolfe (1945-2008)
Sharon Sue Wolfe, 62, of Three Prong Road, Garrison, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 4, 2008 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Wolfe was born Sept. 29, 1945, in Greenup County, Ky., a daughter of the late Vernon and Mayme Abdon Logan.
She was a member of Lower Grassy Church of Christ in Carter County, Ky.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Logan; and two sisters, Elnora Morris and Helen Jordan.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years of marriage, Eugene Wolfe; one son, Billy Wolfe of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Jessie of Garrison; one brother, Kenneth Logan of Ashville, Ohio; three sisters, Hazel Brown of Greenup, Patsy Best of Lake Placid, Fla., and Evelyn Lambert of Mount Sterling, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Ashley (Dempsey) Barker of Carter County, and Levi Tyler Jessie of Garrison.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Roger McGlone. Burial will be in Boone Cemetery in Carter County.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight and one hour before the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Denny Ray Russell (1954-2008)
Denny Ray Russell, 54, of Greenup, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 4, 2008 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Russell was born June 6, 1954, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Charles and Evelyn Melvin Russell. He was also preceded in death by his son, Denny Richard Russell.
Surviving are three sisters, Linda Morley of Ohio, and Patty Hilton and Sovona Smallridge, both of Florida; four brothers, Mike Russell of Texas, David Russell of Wurtland, Ky., Jeff Russell of Ashland, Ky., and Keith Russell of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Richard Jay Russell, Taylor and Tyler Russell, all of South Shore, Ky., and Emily Blankenship of Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by the Rev. Wayne Stephenson. Burial will be in Melvin Cemetery in Wurtland, Ky.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Frank R. Mutters (1922-2008)
Frank Mutters, age 85, of Grayson, passed away Friday, July 4 in Kingsbrook in Ashland.
Mr. Mutters was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Boyd County, a son of the late Frank Hiram and Mary Alice Turner Mutters.
He was a painter with Local # 1072 in Ashland, a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of Trimble Lodge No. 145 in Grayson and Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Duncan Mutters; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Judi Mutters of Jupiter, Fla.; one daughter, Alice J. Huber of Cape Coral, Fla.; one brother, Harry Gordon Mutters of Mountain Home, Ark.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Jeffory Bruce and Shannan Kees; one great-granddaughter, Molly Breann Kees; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Griffith and one brother, James Turner Mutters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6 at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. Harry Thacker will officiate. Burial will follow in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Terry Hendrickson (1943-2008)
Terry D. Hendrickson, 65, of Vanceburg, died Thursday in Golden Living Center in Vanceburg.
He was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Trinity.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Lewis County Memory Gardens in Black Oak.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Goldie Fannin
Goldie Goodwin Fannin, 85, of Vanceburg, died Friday.
Her husband, Kenneth Fannin, survives.
Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
Donald McCarty
Donald L. McCarty, 61, of West Liberty, died Wednesday in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
His wife, Cathy Kelly McCarty, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery in Relief.
Catherine Bishop (1932-2008)
Catherine Bishop, 76, of Louisa, died Thursday in Louisa.
She was born March 30, 1932, in Blaine.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Myrtle Chapel Cemetery in Louisa.
