Mary Charlene Whitely (1929-2008)
Mary Charlene Whitely, 79, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Whitely was born March 13, 1929, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Theodore Edward and Sybil Wilkinson Robinson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Robinson.
She was a homemaker, wife and mother and a member of Bridges Christian Church in Russell, Ky.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis Gerald Whitely of Ashland; two sons, Robert Stephen Whitely and his wife, Kathy Gale, of Greenup, Ky., and Paul Edward Whitely of Ashland; two daughters, Sybil Marie Trimarco and Kathy Lynne Smith, both of Ashland; a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Walker of Russell; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Roberta Wymer of Ashland; and a nephew, Michael Robinson of Mississippi.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Mark McKinney, minister. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bishop Jack Spainhower (1935-2008)
Bishop Jack Spainhower, 72, of Worthington, Ky., died July 2, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 3, 1935, in Russell, Ky., a son of the late John Wesley and Zona Ann Ratliff Spainhower. He was also preceded in death by brothers John Spainhower and Tom Spainhower.
He was a welder with CSX Railroad and minister at the Church of God of Prophecy in Ironton, Ohio. He was a member of Transportation Communications International Union TCUGAFL-CIO, CLC.
Surviving are his wife, Lorene I. Stephenson Spainhower of Worthington; sons Donald (Dawn) Spainhower of San Antonio, Texas, Douglas (Renate) Spainhower of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Darren (Denise) Spainhower of Raceland, Ky.; daughters Debra (Rick) Ratcliff of Ashland, Ky., and Dena (Jonathan) Redmond of Louisville, Ky.; brothers Paul Spainhower of Galloway, Ohio, and Dean Spainhower of Raceland, Ky.; sisters Betty Logsdon of Granger, Ind., and Jean Gillette of Newport News, Va.; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of God of Prophecy in Ironton by Bishop Harold Parker. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at the church.

Patricia Ann Shrewsbury (1955-2008)
Patricia Ann Shrewsbury, 53, of Russell, Ky., died July 2, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born April 2, 1955, in Montgomery, Ala., a daughter of Lt. Col. James Ragland Wedding of Fordsville, Ky., and the late Floya Belle Stringer Wedding.
She was an educator for 29 years at Russell Middle School in Russell. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Russell, the KEA and the NEA and received a master’s degree.
Additional survivors include her husband, Paul B. Shrewsbury of Russell; a son, Andrew David (Stephanie) Shrewsbury of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Sara Ann Shrewsbury of Russell; and a brother, James Morris (Karrin) Wedding of Waynesville, Mo.
A devoted wife and loving mother, she was dedicated to family and church. She was an active leader and longtime Sunday school teacher, always a giving and serving individual. She will be deeply missed by family, her Christian sisters and many, many friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Russell by the Rev. Ken Gowin.

Jerry Rigsby (1949-2008)
Jerry Dean Rigsby, 59, of Ashland, died Tuesday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Ashland.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Burial will be in Rigsby Family Cemetery in Rush.

Brenda Wilson (1960-2008)
Brenda Nolan Wilson, 47, died Thursday in University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born Aug. 16, 1960, in Ashland.

Brenda Schiller (1951-2008)
Brenda S. Arthur Schiller, 57, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, formerly of South Shore, died Tuesday in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
She was born June 26, 1951, in Portsmouth.
Her husband, Steve Neal Schiller, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Wheelersburg.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robert Smith (1948-2008)
Robert Smith, 59, of Louisa, died Wednesday in Louisa.
He was born July 5, 1948, in Fort Gay, W.Va.
His wife, Karen E. Nelson Smith, survives.

Billie “Sissy” Mullins
Billie Lois “Sissy” Mullins, 60, of Pikeville, died Wednesday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glory Bound Freewill Baptist Church.

Ralph Bell
Ralph Parker Bell, 60, of West Liberty, died Wednesday at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1948, and was the husband of Fannie Margaret Hutchinson Bell.

Paul Busby (1935-2008)
Paul Busby, 72, of Morehead, died Wednesday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Oct. 13, 1935, and was the husband of Betty Jo McKenzie Busby.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in New Alfrey Cemetery.
