J.T. Brown (1930-2008)
J.T. Brown, 78, of Argillite, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mr. Brown was born June 6, 1930, in Hunnewell, Ky., a son of the late Homer and Betty McCall Brown.
He was retired from Cemtron in Worthington, Ky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Harris Brown, and two brothers, Curt Brown and Farris Brown.
He is survived by a daughter, Rosetta (Michael) Lawhorn of Argillite; two brothers, Donald Brown and Homer Brown, both of Argillite; five sisters, Ruth Sallie of Rush, Ky., Ruie Brown, Eloise Johnson and Erma Jean Blevins, all of Argillite, and Betty Moore of Oldtown, Ky.; and a granddaughter, Michelle Lawhorn of Argillite.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2008, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Larry Garvin. Burial will be in Freeman-Harris Cemetery in Hunnewell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Reba Pauline “Polly” Bailey (1938-2008)
Reba Pauline “Polly” Bailey, 69 of Greenup, Ky., a former resident of South Shore, Ky., went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born in Greenup County, Ky., on Oct. 9, 1938, a daughter of Erma Howerton Slater Burke of South Shore and the late Dudley Slater.
She was a former employee of Williams Shoe Factory, the Greenup County School District and was a beautician. She was a 1957 graduate of McKell High School and was a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving are her husband, Hershel L. Bailey, whom she married on Dec. 27, 1957; a daughter and her husband, Lisa (Chad) Barnett of Greenup; a grandson, Tyler Barnett of Greenup; a brother, James Dudley Slater of South Shore; and a sister, Marcella Grimm of South Shore.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carmelita Abrams.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore by the Rev. Sandy Adams and the Rev. Ben Tackett. Burial will be in LeMaster Cemetery in Load, Ky.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Nina Beatrice Grizzle May (1920-2008)
Nina Beatrice Grizzle May, 87, of Flatwoods, Ky., died July 1, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. May was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Samuel Malcom and Lelia Alice O’Bryan Grizzle.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Proctor H. May; brothers Samuel and Lawrence Grizzle; and sisters Marguerette Mullins and Sylvia York.
He was a homemaker and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods.
Surviving are a brother, Leonard Grizzle of Ashland; and sisters Frances Grizzle of Anaheim, Calif., and Minnie Chandler of Flatwoods.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 4 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Lloyd Bailey. Burial will be in O’Bryan Cemetery.

Lillie “Elizabeth” Stevens Waddell (1920-2008)
Mrs. Lillie “Elizabeth” Stevens Waddell, 88, of Route 3, Olive Hill, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, July 1, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Waddell was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late James and Margarett Barker Stevens.
Elizabeth was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend to all who knew her. She was a devoted Christian and has been a member of Upper Bruin Baptist Church for 38 years.
In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Everett Waddell, on Jan. 2, 1988; an infant daughter; four brothers, Marvin Stevens, Ezra Stevens, Thomas Stevens and Othar Stevens; three sisters, Eithel Stevens, Ola Knipp and Lola Messer; and a son-in-law, Bill Reed.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Eithel Whitt and her husband, Wayne, and Blanche Reed, all of Elliott County, Ky.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Stanley Stevens and Hermal Stevens and wife Sharon, all of Delong, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Brenda Lewis of Sandy Hook, Ky., Bonnie Reed and Jeff Reed, both of Elliott County, Aletha Skaggs of Demossville, Ky., Amy Sparks of Olive Hill, Billy Reed of Elliott County, Dewey Reed of Morehead, Ky., and Steven W. Whitt of Olive Hill; 11 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way); a stepgreat-great-grandchild; a sister, Dollie Barker Sammons of Olive Hill; and a sister-in-law, Louise Stevens of Morehead. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members, neighbors and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Upper Bruin Baptist Church in Elliott County by Brother Ennis Lewis Jr., Brother Tim Porter and Brother Russell Griffith. Burial will be in Waddell Family Cemetery at Gimlet, Ky.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook and after 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Jeff Reed, Billy Reed, Dewey Reed, Steven W. Whitt, James Lewis, Kenny Skaggs, Danny Sparks and Dude Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
Galen Reed, Tyler Skaggs, William Reed, Michael Skaggs, Caleb Maggard, Dewey T. Reed, Ayden Reed and Cody Whitt will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Jethro “Kingfish” Clark (1932-2008)
Jethro “Kingfish” Clark, 76, of Greenup, died Wednesday in Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Greenup.
His wife, Pauline Horn Clark, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup. Burial will be in George W. Boyles Cemetery in Greenup County.

Brenda Schiller
Brenda S. Arthur Schiller, 57, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, formerly of South Shore, died Tuesday in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.

Sam Williams (1922-2008)
Sam Price Williams, 86, of Salt Lick, formerly of Morehead, died Tuesday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born April 6, 1922, in Richmond.
A memorial service will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Grand Masonic Lodge of Kentucky or the American Legion.

Burman Lewis (1923-2008)
Burman Lewis, 84, of West Liberty, died Wednesday in Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Morgan County.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Potter Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook.

Wanda Nance (1927-2008)
Wanda E. Nance, 81, of South Point, died Tuesday in Heartland of Riverview in South Point.
She was born March 16, 1927, in Ironton.
Her husband, Ralph “Bud” Nance, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
