Harry B. Wilson (1921-2009)
Harry B. Wilson, 87, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday evening, June 29, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Ashland, a son of the late Russell Pernell Wilson and Nellie Simpson Wilson Wheeler.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy J. Wheeler, and a sister, Wanda L. Wilson.
He was a retired security guard with Armco Steel, was of the Nazarene faith and a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Wilma V. Wilson; a son, Larry David (Cathy) Wilson of Ashland; two sisters, Bessie Ann Roberson of Ashland and Nancy Kay (Charles P.) Leach of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren Shawn David (Kellie) Wilson of Louisville, Jason Lee (Ashley) Wilson of Dayton, Ohio, Kristin Beth (David) Coffey of Dayton, Ohio, Tiffany Michelle (Derek) Peters of Louisville and Stacey Nicole Wilson of Flatwoods, Ky.; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Rose Wilson.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel by Dr. Steve Ruby and the Rev. Richard Suman. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 1, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
A military service will be conducted by American Legion Kenova Post 93.

Cassandra RaLynne “Cassie” Neace (1990-2009)
Cassandra RaLynne “Cassie” Neace, 18, of Worthington, Ky., died June 28, 2009, in Greenup County, Ky.
She was born Oct. 3, 1990, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of Karen Sue Neace of Worthington.
She was a 2009 graduate of Raceland-Worthington High School.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Kaylee Brooke Sizemore of Worthington; maternal grandparents Everett and Eunice Neace of Worthington; and aunts Doris Haynes and Louise Prince, both of Flatwoods, Ky., and Brenda Neace of Westwood, Ky.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Floyd Neace. Burial will be in Warnock Cemetery in Warnock, Ky.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the funeral home.

Cleo Russell Brown (1915-2009)
Cleo Russell Brown, 94, of Worthington, Ky., died June 29, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born May 11, 1915, in Oldtown, Ky., a son of the late Harrison Samuel and Minnie Florence Stapleton Brown.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Riley Brown, on Sept. 13, 1977; two sons, Charles Edward Brown, who died in 1954 and James Russell Brown, who died in 2004; a brother, Charlie Brown; and a sister, Edna Queen.
He was a retired heavy-equipment operator for C&O Railroad after more than 30 years of service. He was a Christian, loved his family and loved to garden and was a member of the McDonald’s Breakfast Club.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Magdline (Albert) Frantom of Tipp City, Ohio, Betty (William) Baker of Troy, Ohio, Ruth (Rick) Schneider of Vandalia, Ohio, and Donna (Danny) Haskins of Worthington; a brother, Belva Brown of Troy; a sister, Bethel (John) Bays of Oldtown, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Brown of Troy; and Katherine Kelley, a great and loyal friend. He was also survived by grandchildren Pam Lilly, Brenda Fox, Teresa Alexander, Mark Frantom, Bill Baker, Christy Waford, Jennifer Combs, Justin Combs, Susan Besecker and Randy Ison; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Homer Bradley. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky.

Jack Meade
Jack C. Meade, 82, of Cincinnati, died June 23.
He was born in Ashland.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. July 12 at Mariemont Church in Mariemont, Ohio.

Helen Lowder (1918-2009)
Helen S. Lowder, 91, of South Shore, died Monday in South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 25, 1918, at Camp Dix.
Her husband, Dorsel H. Lowder, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery at Quincy.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Ryan Dickerson
Ryan Dickerson, 22, of Flatwoods, died Monday in Flatwoods.
Evans Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
Albert Blevins (1925-2009)
Albert Blevins, 83, of Hagerhill, died Monday in Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville.
He was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Floyd County.
His wife, Flossie Blevins, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Delong Family Cemetery at Hagerhill.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and until services Thursday at the funeral home.
Effie Castle (1912-2009)
Effie Gladys Castle, 96, of Paintsville, died Sunday in Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville.
She was born July 25, 1912, in Lawrence County.
Her husband, Herbert Castle, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church.
Johnny Sparks (1934-2009)
Johnny Sparks, 74, of South Webster, died Sunday in The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Prestonsburg, Ky.
His wife, Mary Frances Swinford Sparks, preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Puckett Cemetery.
