Deloris Marie Hughes - 1923-2008
Deloris Marie Hughes, 85, of Ashland, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center.
She was born May 28, 1923, in Boyd County, Ky., the daughter of the late Otto and Roma Conley Barnett. She was a homemaker and a resident of Ashland for more than 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Hughes, having been married since 1940 and a brother, Lester Barnett.
She is survived by her son, Haskell L. Hughes of Irvine, Calif.; grandchildren, James (Linda) Hughes of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Elizabeth (Matt) Eakin of Irvine; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ginger Conley of Ashland.
There will be no visitation.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
Judge Charles Sinnette - 1925-2008
Charles Stockdale Sinnette, 83, of Ashland, husband of Betty Jayne Turner Sinnette, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
Charlie was born April 1, 1925, in Boyd County, Ky., a son of the late Clarence Patrick and Hilda Mary Herring Sinnette.
Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was present at Omaha Beach on D-Day aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Texas which was also involved in all other major battles in the Pacific during World War II. He graduated in August 1956 from the University of Kentucky College of Law and practiced law in Boyd County for many years before being appointed Circuit Judge on Dec. 27, 1974 by Governor Wendell Ford. He retired in 1993 as a Boyd County Circuit Judge with the 32nd Judicial District after 18 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Clarence Fields Post #76, and Elks Lodge #350 BPOE, was a Kentucky colonel, was a Kentucky Admiral-Admiral of Cherry River, a member of Poage Lodge #325 F&AM, a member of Indra Consistory Valley of Covington Scottish Rite, El Hasa Shrine Clown Unit and Royal Order of Jesters Big Sandy Court #172, a member of Boyd County Bar Association and Kentucky Bar Association and University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
Charlie loved spending time and acting silly with his grandchildren. He was also an avid fisherman and was known to have sunk two boats in Lake Erie. He was also a father figure to many of his children’s friends over the years.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Jayne Turner Sinnette; two sons, Thomas Charles Sinnette and his wife Lynn of Bellevue, Neb., and Kevin Patrick Sinnette of Ashland, Ky.; two daughters, Melanie Sue Sinnette of Ashland and Elizabeth “Betsy” Hampton and her husband Curtis of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Michael Scott McFarlin, Shannon Marie Sinnette (Elliott) Crayne, Staci Lynn Sinnette, and Joseph Clay Hampton; one “adopted” son, Thomas Howe of Ashland; two brothers, Clarence Eastwood Sinnette of Huntington, W.Va., and Paul Herring (Alice) Sinnette of Sonora, Calif.; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Walter) Gardner of Altoona, Fla., and Patricia Ann (Frank) Slone of Spring Hope, N.C.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood and escorted to the cemetery by The Patriot Guard. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery. Military Services will be conducted graveside by Kenova American Legion Post #93.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008 and one hour before services Monday. Masonic Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. by officers and brothers of Poage Lodge #325.

Anna Faye Wagner - 1981-2008
Anna Faye Wagner, age 27, of Russell, Ky., died June 26, 2008 in Westwood at the home of a sister.
She was born Feb. 28, 1981, in Lima, Ohio, a daughter of Dr. Robert and Peggy Wagner of Russell.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Louis and Betty Ader.
She was a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Howard and Mandy Wagner of Raceland; four sisters, Melissa (Randy) Smith of Paris, Ky., April (Tom) Rice of Greenup, Ky., Tina (Ronnie) Blair of Ashland, Ky., and Miriam Wagner of Lexington, Ky.; four nieces, Aria Rice, Elizabeth Kinner, and Mandalene and LaNora Blair; and three nephews, Jeremy Fetters, Jordan Kinner and Ethan Rice.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Ronny Mayes, Brother Chuck Stewart and Brother Jim Yates. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Gene F. Irwin, 77, of Ashland, died Friday at his residence.
His wife, Betty Cooksey Irwin, survives.

Belva Sammons - 1949-2008
Belva Lynn Sammons, 58, of Morehead, died Friday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 6, 1949, in Ashland.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pollard Baptist Church in Ashland. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

George Mauk
George Mauk, 56, died Friday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Randall Williams - 1935-2008
Randall Williams, 73, of White Oak, died Thursday in University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born Feb. 19, 1935, in Paintsville.
He was the husband of Janis Crouch Williams.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at White Oak Christian Church. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery in White Oak.

Kaynard Webb - 1925-2008
Kaynard Webb, 83, of Hager Hill, died Thursday in Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born June 26, 1925, in Floyd County.
His wife, Laura Leek Webb survives.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.

Lorine Corns - 1950-2008
Lorine Marie Corns, 57, of Vanceburg, died Friday in Meadowview Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 4, 1950, in Petersville.
Her husband, Wallace Corns, died in 2002.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Hardy-Gulley Cemetery in Indian Creek.
