Dr. Glenn Frederick Haeberle - 1949-2008

Dr. Glenn Frederick Haeberle, 58, of Ashland died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Nov. 6, 1949 in Ashland, Ky., son of the late Dr. C.I. and Geraldine Bible Haeberle.

Dr. Haeberle was a self-employed physician and a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church, Kentucky Medical Association, American Medical Association, Boyd County Medical Society, UK Alumni Association, and Alumni U of L School of Medicine.

He is survived by a son, Grant Field Haeberle of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Elizabeth Haeberle (James) Davis of Mount Sterling, Ky., and their mother. He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Mark G. Haeberle of Ashland and Dr. C. Brent Haeberle of Louisville, Ky.; and his uncle, W.T. Bible of Chattanooga, Tenn. He was beloved by his patients and hospital staff.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Carman Funeral Home in Russell, Ky., with the Pastor Jim Powell and Pastor Lance Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors tonight, June 27, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.



Barbara Sexton - 1930-2008

Barbara Sexton, 77, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died Wednesday in Hospice in Lexington after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Ashland, daughter of the late Herbert E. Smith and Mary Easter Smith. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, H.C. (Buddy) Sexton and two brothers Clyde Smith (of Indiana) and Robert (Bob) Smith (of Ashland).

She is survived by sisters, Roberta Jo DePriest of Ashland and Lucille McCampbell of Maryland; and a brother, Bill Smith of Ceredo-Kenova, W.Va.

She loved being with her family most of all. After living most of her life in Ashland, she moved to Lexington in 2002 with her daughter Lisa Curtis and her husband, Brint Curtis and her grandchildren, Tanner (19) and Kasey (15).

She also shared her life with her daughter, Marigail Sexton and her family, husband Bob Money and grandchildren Alex (11) and Grace Ann (8) who also live in Lexington. Her extended family in Ashland continued to be very important to her. She was very close to her sister Roberta Jo DePriest and her husband, Bill DePriest and their daughter Cheri Daniel, her husband Jimmy Daniel and their children Wesley (12) and Reed (7). Barbara considered Cheri as special to her as her own daughters.

Barbara loved to socialize with her many friends in both Ashland and Lexington. She was known for her love of travel, bridge, and always being on the go.

Upon death, Barbara requested her body be donated to the University of Kentucky Medical School for study and research with the hope of finding advancements in ovarian cancer cures. Her ashes will ultimately be buried beside her loving husband.

Memorial services will be in Ashland and Lexington to honor her life. The Ashland service will be on Saturday, June 28 at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Friends may call from 11a.m. to noon and the service will begin at noon. The Lexington memorial will be at the Lexington Senior Citizen Center on Nicholasville Road at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 30.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested that donations be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 2901 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101, the Lexington Senior Citizens Center, 1530 Nicholasville Road, Lexington, KY 40503 or Hospice of the Bluegrass 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.



James Ed Stambaugh - 1931-2008

James Ed Stambaugh, of Ashland, surrounded by his loving family passed away early Thursday morning in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Stambaugh was 77 years of age, born May 9, 1931, in Johnson County, Ky., a son of the late Roy and Minnie Dye Stambaugh. He worked in maintenance and custodial care for the Gertrude Ramey Children’s Home and was a member of the Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving is his loving family, his wife of 58 years, Lessie Scarberry Stambaugh; his children, Floyd (Marlene) Stambaugh, and Neva (Mike) Greene, all of Ashland, Randell (Priscilla) Stambaugh of Catlettsburg, Richard (Lynn) Stambaugh of Ashland, Keith (Loretta) Stambaugh of Kenova, W.Va., Marlene (Wayne) Atkinson of Hudson, Fla., Mark (Johnda) Stambaugh, and Nancy (Bill) Withrow, all of Ashland, Bill (June) Stambaugh of Kenova, Emory (Cecelia) Stambaugh and Anita (Chuck) Shannon, all of Ashland, John (Cindy) Stambaugh of Flatwoods, Ky., and Charlie (Jean) Stambaugh of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; a sister, Blanche McKenzie of Ashland; 32 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

As well as his parents, he is preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for James Ed Stambaugh will be at 1 p.m. Saturday June 28, 2008, at the Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Brother Johnny Terry will offer words of comfort, with a personal euology given by Pastor Eddie Hay. Special music will be provided by the Terry Family. Final rest will follow at Scarberry Family Cemetery in River, Ky.

Those wishing to call on the Stambaugh family may do so between the hours of 6 and 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Cecil Ray Rhoden - 1964-2008

Cecil Ray Rhoden, 43, of Three Prong Road, Garrison, Ky., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in Baptist Hospital in LaGrange, Ky.

Mr. Rhoden was born July 2, 1964, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Charley and Faitha Rister Rhoden.

He is survived by three sons, Gregory Allen Rhoden, Dustin Ray Rhoden and Shane Keith Rhoden; five brothers, Charles Rhoden Jr. of Lithia Springs, Ga., Donnie Rhoden and Douglas Rhoden, both of Garrison, Pete Rhoden of Greenup, Ky., and Paul Garrett Rhoden of Quincy, Ky.; and two sisters, Janice (Phil) Moore of Lithia Springs and Mary (Byron) Relford of Austell, Ga.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup with Brother Ray Hampton and the Rev. Phil Moore. Burial will be in Rhoden Cemetery, Tick Ridge Road, Garrison.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight and two hours before the service Saturday at the funeral home.



Judge Charles Sinnette - 1925-2008

Judge Charles Sinnette, 83, of Ashland, husband of Betty Jayne Turner Sinnette, died Wednesday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Brenda Conn - 1957-2008

Brenda Carol Mayo Conn, 51, of Grayson, died Wednesday at her residence.

She was born Feb. 26, 1957, in Ironton.

Her husband, John Wayne Conn, survives.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill. Burial will be in Everman Cemetery in Grayson.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday and until the service Sunday at the funeral home.



Eugene Moore - 1921-2008

Eugene Moore, 86, of Barboursville, W.Va., died Tuesday in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born July 30, 1921, in Mattie.

His wife, Ruth B. Ferguson Moore, died in 2007.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.



Iva Litton - 1940-2008

Iva Jean Jenkins Johnson Litton, 67, of Sandy Hook, died Wednesday.

She was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Elliott County.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook. Burial will be in Jenkins Cemetery in Elliott County.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. tonight, anytime Saturday and until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.



Esther Litteral - 1915-2008

Esther Litteral, 93, of West Liberty, died Wednesday in West Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Morgan County.

Her husband, Buford Litteral, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Potter Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery in Malone.

Dr. Robert Menefee

Dr. Robert G. Menefee, 89, died Wednesday in Berea Hospital.

He was born in Dunleary. His wife, Maxine Wooten Menefee, preceded him in death.

A private burial service will be at Berea Cemetery. A celebration of life will be July 12 at Union Church.

Lakes Funeral Home in Berea is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Preston, 70, of West Van Lear, died Thursday in Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville.

She was born April 25, 1938, in Johnson County.

Her husband, Paris Preston, died in 1995.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Edgar “Buddy” Keaton - 1944-2008

Edgar “Buddy” Joseph Keaton, 64, of Ironton, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

He was born May 13, 1944, in Pedro.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery.
