Lois Day (1931-2009)
Lois Day, 78, of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Day was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Tony and Helen Venz Jenkins.
She was a homemaker. She has been a Christian for 62 years and was a member of the Lorraine Street Baptist Church, later known as Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 20 years, taught Sunday school, sang with a trio, sang in the choir and played piano. She was a current member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her loving husband of 58 years, James Day of Ashland; daughters Cynthia Dehart and husband Bill of Ashland and Jami Barber, also of Ashland; brothers Sherman Jenkins and wife Joanna of South Point, Ohio, Ronald Jenkins and wife Charlene of Ironton, Ohio, and Richard Waggoner and wife Connie of Dayton, Ohio; granddaughters Staci Caudill and husband Gerald and Kristina Gehringer and husband Charlie; and great-grandchildren, Drake Richardson, Lacey Gehringer, Dillon Caudill and Brooklyn Gehringer.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Ronnie Mayes. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Robert Neil “Bob” Daniel (1932-2009)
Robert Neil “Bob” Daniel, 77, of Ashland, Ky., went to be with the Lord at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center following complications from surgery.
Mr. Daniel was born May 5, 1932, in Johnson County, Ky., a son of the late Ray Daniel and Gladys Griffith Daniel. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude H. Daniel and Clyde L. Daniel.
He retired in 1989 from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was a Kentucky colonel and U.S. Navy veteran and attended Grace Nazarene Church in Ashland.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Charlotte M. Davis Daniel; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger (Jon) Peters of Ashland; two beautiful grandchildren whom he adored, Michaela Swenson, 13, and Christopher Peters, 23 months; two nieces, Claudette Huggins of Gallapolis, Ohio, and Lisa Platt of Canton, Ga.; three nephews, Larry Daniel of South Bend, Ind., Gregory Bartley of Ashland and Chris Daniel of Norfolk, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris Ann (Jim) Bartley of Ashland; and a host of adoring friends and relatives who will miss him dearly.
Bob touched the hearts of all who knew him and will always be remembered with love.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Harold Dixon and Pastor Richard Suman. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Thelma Elnora Stapleton (1929-2009)
Thelma Elnora Stapleton, 79, of Worthington, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Stapleton was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Oldtown, Ky., a daughter of the late Joseph John and Myrtle Faye Prince Harris.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sherie Stephens, and a brother, Charles Harris.
She is survived by a son, Dwight L. (Donna) Stephens of Auburndale, Fla.; a sister, Nellie Mae Brown of Oldtown; six grandchildren, Wendy King of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Christina Thompson of Raceland, Ky., Dwayne Stephens of Lakeland, Fla., Penny Lewis of Worthington, Amanda Bailey of Worthington and Andria Shiver of Lithia, Fla.; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Dale Maddy and Bill Flannery. Burial will be in Freeman-Harris Cemetery in Hunnewell, Ky.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Debra Ricker (1955-2009)
Debra Kay Ricker of Ashland died May 31 at her residence.
A private memorial service was conducted by her family under the supervision of Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland.

Ralph “Motor” Burke (1963-2009)
Ralph Walter “Motor” Burke, 45, of Ironton, died Friday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 28, 1963.
His wife, Tammie Jo Coburn Burke, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

Genevieve Schilling (1919-2009)
Genevieve K. Schilling, 89, formerly of Flatwoods, died Saturday in Beaufort Memorial Hospital in South Carolina.
She was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Akron, Ohio.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Morningside of Beaufort.
Anderson Funeral Home in Beaufort is in charge of arrangements.

Carl Boggs Jr., 56, of Olive Hill, died Monday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Gertrude Pack (1932-2009)
Gertrude Neeley Pack, 76, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
She was born Nov. 18, 1932.
Her husband, Russell Ray “Pug” Pack, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg. Burial will be in Richmond Memorial Cemetery in Prestonsburg.

Kathleen Stafford (1931-2009)
Kathleen Burriss Stafford, 78, of Vanceburg, died Monday at her residence.
She was born April 22, 1931, in Vanceburg.
Her husband, Jack Elmo Stafford, died in 2003.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Liles Cemetery at Camp Dix.

Paula Mauk Dickerson, 42, of Sandy Hook, died Sunday in Grayson.

Steven Jeffrey Adkins, 21, died Saturday.
He was born March 24, 1988, in Mount Sterling.

Della Adkins Crum, 95, of Martin, died Sunday at her residence.

Wilgus Gullett
Wilgus David Gullett, 88, of Campton, died Sunday in Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty.
His wife, Elda Lee Nickell Gullett, survives.

Robert Lee “Bobby” Cox, 77, died Monday.
He was born June 17, 1931, at Pomp.
He was the husband of Mary Katherine Williams Cox.
