Holly Carey - 1982-2008
Holly Elizabeth Carey, 26, of Ashland died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Jan. 12, 1982, in Ashland, the daughter of Danny Joe Davis of Ashland and the late Mary Jane Hemlepp Martz. She was the wife of Michael Shane Carey, who survives.
She was a 2000 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and was a homemaker.
She also was preceded in death by her grandparents, P.D. and Sally Lambert Hemlepp.
Survivors, in addition to her father and husband, include one stepson, Alex Carey of Russell; one daughter, Alexis Brooke Davis of Ashland; one stepdaughter, Ashley Carey of Russell; two brothers-in-law, Tim Carey of Gainesville, Fla., and John Carey of Catlettsburg; one sister, Emily Suzanne Davis of Ashland; one sister-in-law, Tammy McMahon of Bay City, Texas; grandparents, Bobby and Millateen Blair Davis of Ashland; and her mother- and father-in-law, John and Donna Bundy Carey of Tallahassee, Fla.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

John Sparks Sr. - 1920-2008
John L. Sparks Sr., 87, of Grayson died Friday at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. He was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Carter County, the son of the late Genie and Fannie Barker Sparks. The World War II veteran was retired from Asplundh Tree Service and he was a Christian. His wife of 61 years, Susie Sagraves Sparks, preceded him in death. Also preceeding him in death are two sisters Katherine Seagraves and Irene Suttles, and one brother Bill Sparks.
Survivors include six daughters, Ruth Isaacs, Anna Riddell, Gwen Dickerson, Wilma Rice, Sharron Golihue and Geneva (Carroll) LaValley, all of Grayson; four sons, Jack M. Sparks of Ashland; William Roy Sparks, John L. Sparks Jr. and Glen Sparks, all of Grayson; two brothers, George Sparks of Irvine and Charlie Sparks of Hitchins; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchlidren; and a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Minister Willie Martin officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Dena Moore - 1962-2008
Dena Marie Schickinger Moore, 45, wife of Bill Moore, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008. She was born Dec. 27, 1962, in Louisville to the late Elmer and Dorothy Ebertshauser Schickinger. She was an executive secretary with the Kentucky State Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Claire Marie Moore; one son, Wesley Preston Moore; and her stepson, Joshua Moore; one sister, Diana Meadors of Louisville; two brothers, David Schickinger and Douglas Schickinger, both of Louisville; and her three special nieces, Renee Bailey, Kim Bramlett and Kelly Brewer.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Betty Bloomfield - 1936-2008
Betty Joann Bloomfield, 72, of Vanceburg died Friday at her home.
She was born April 20, 1936, in Greenup.
Her husband, Ermel Eugene Bloomfield, survives.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery in Laurel.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Juanita Rice
Juanita Mayse Rice, 68, of Sandy Hook died Saturday at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Her husband, William “Billy T.” Rice, survives.
Arrangements are pending at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook.
John Branham - 1920-2008
John Andrew Branham, 87, of Prestonsburg died Saturday at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born Dec. 18, 1920.
His wife, Mary Elizabeth Coats Branham, preceded him in death.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Community United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mayo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be sent to Community United Methodist Church, 147 Burke Avenue, Prestonsburg, Ky. 41653.
Rosie Ferguson - 1929-2008
Rosie Belle Little Ferguson, 79, of Morehead died Friday at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
She was born April 1, 1929.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in Adams-Plank Cemetery in Rowan County.
Visitation will be after noon Monday at the funeral Home.
