Patricia Thompson (1958-2009)
Patricia Ann Thompson, 50, of Boyd Street in Ashland, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Ms. Thompson was born July 31, 1958, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late John Milton and Jewel Dean Vanhoose Thompson. She was a homemaker and family care giver, a member of the Eagles and VFW Ladies Auxiliary and of the Baptist faith. Patricia enjoyed crocheting, crafts, painting, gardening and cooking.
Surviving are two sisters, Virginia Lee Moore and her husband, Robert, of Flatwoods and Carol Jean Wright and her husband, Elvie, of Sandy Hook, Ky.; a brother, Tommy Thompson of Ashland; her longtime companion and fiancé, David Mullins; a close friend, Linda Morrison; a special nephew, John Moore; a special great-nephew, Drew Moore; a niece, Rhonda Moore; nephews Michael Moore and David Moore; and great-nephews Cameron, Davie, Hayden, Branson and Hunter.
A funeral service in solemn remembrance will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. A message of comfort will be offered by Brother Michael Greene. Final rest will follow a committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Those wishing to call on the Thompson family may do so between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Carl Allen (1952-2009)
Carl Lee Allen, 56, of Oldtown, Ky., passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Allen was born Oct. 20, 1952, in Grayson, Ky., a son of Kendall “Crow” and Zola Faye Sargent Allen of Argillite, Ky.
He was a retired brakeman at CSX Railroad, a U.S. Army veteran and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Greenup.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Yvonne Carter Allen; three sons, Tracy (Jennifer) Allen and Brian Allen and Steven Allen, all of Oldtown; two brothers, David (Sharon) Allen of Oldtown and William “Joe” (Judy) Allen of Paducah, Ky.; and three granddaughters, Staci Allen, Sarah Allen and Tabby Allen.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Greenup by Don Mocabee. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery in Oldtown.

Faye Puckett Morgan (1940-2009)
Faye Puckett Morgan, 68, of Greenup, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at her residence.
Mrs. Morgan was born July 4, 1940, a daughter of the late Ronald and Lessie Rose Puckett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Morgan; a daughter, Kathy Morgan; and a son, Mark Johnson.
Surviving are a son, Rick Johnson of Flatwoods, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, by Pastor Richard Morrison. Burial will be in Plum Grove Cemetery in Greenup.

Zach Meenach (1993-2009)
Brian Zachary “Zach” Meenach, 15, of South Shore, Ky., beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend to many went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2009.
He was born Aug. 16, 1993, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of Brian D. Meenach and Ruth Byrd Meenach of South Shore.
He was a freshman at Greenup County High School, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He volunteered his time as a peer-mediator and was involved in many other school activities. Zach had been selected to participate in the Morehead Talent Search. Zach loved spending time with his friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, fishing and being with his family. He was a member of First Christian Church of South Shore.
Zach was preceded in death by his mamaw, Barbara Selby Meenach; his great-grandmother, Nancy Selby Beinbreck; and his great-grandmother, Jennie Oakley.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Katie E. Meenach, and brothers Luke and Dillon Meenach; all of South Shore; his papaw, Freddie Meenach of South Shore; his papaw and mamaw, Charles and Jennie E. “Betty” Byrd of Carter County, Ky.; aunts and uncles Keith Meenach of Old Hickory, Tenn., James and Angie Byrd of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jennie (Byrd) and Allen Hull of Chillicothe, Ohio, Bill and Rhonda Byrd of South Shore, Charlyne (Byrd) and Michael Parker of Muskegon, Mich., and Donnie and Nancy Byrd of Bryantsville, Ky.; and cousins Cole and Hannah Meenach, Daniel, Kimberly (Josh) Coryell and Kaydence, Eli and Laramie Byrd, Timothy, Jonathan and Jacob Hull, Emily and Ryan Byrd, Rachel, Kendra and Jenna Parker, Eddie and Angia Byrd, Andrea (Byrd) and Jeff Lawson and Sophia.
Zach will be dearly missed by his family, friends, teammates and the community of Greenup County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at First Christian Church of South Shore with Bill Hayden and Danny Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery in South Shore. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Martha “Tommie” Johnson (1931-2009)
Martha Lee “Tommie” Johnson, 78, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, formerly of Greenup, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at her home.
Tommie was loved by all and will be missed by many.
She was born April 27, 1931, in Kehoe, Ky., a daughter of the late Paul and Bertha Roland Worthington.
She was owner and operator of Johnson’s Beauty Shop in Raceland, Ky. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Finley Worthington, Warren “Bubby” Worthington, Benjamin “Skeeter” Worthington and Paul “Zeke” Worthington.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Morgan Johnson; a daughter, Debra Cantrell of Reynoldsburg; a brother, Carl Worthington of South Shore, Ky.; a sister, Alice Fern Wertz of Salem, Va.; three grandchildren, Rick (Betty) Hughes of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Randetta (Mike) Moore and Sarah (Derek) Shively, both of Reynoldsburg; and seven great-grandchildren she enjoyed being with, Cody Hughes, Austin Moore, Ryan Moore, Tiffany Stevens, Riley Shively, Caileigh Shively and Kaitlyn Shively.
Tommie was also blessed with many nieces and nephews and had many dear friends and extended family she cherished. She enjoyed every phone call, card and visit.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Ed Johnson and Dr. Tom Melvin. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Ky.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.
Helen VanBibber (1932-2009)
Helen Mae Lawson VanBibber, 77, of Cincinnati, formerly of Greenup County, died Wednesday in Drake Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was born March 3, 1932, in Greenup County.
Her husband, Harrison B. VanBibber, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Carolyn Riffe, 56, of Wurtland, died Friday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Mary Berry Tussy Class, 82, of Wilson Creek, died Thursday at her residence.

Robert “Bob” Blaine Worrix, 79, of Pikeville, died Thursday at his residence.
He was born July 2, 1929, in Pikeville.
His wife, Jacqueline Gray Worrix, survives.

He was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Louisa.

Dennis Kidd, 85, of Dana, husband of Alpha Akers Kidd, died Friday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born Dec. 27, 1923, at Dana.

Carrie Hicks, 89, of Hippo, widow of Willis Hicks, died Thursday at her residence.
She was born Nov. 16, 1919, at Gunlock.

Don Christopher Seagraves, 40, of Beaverton, Ore., died Monday at his residence.
He was born May 18, 1969, in Ashland.
