William Anthony “Tony” Porter - 1960-2008
William Anthony “Tony” Porter, 48, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 22, 1960, in Ashland, a son of Shirlene Kirk Porter Moore of Ashland and the late William Massie Porter.
In addition, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ollie Dehart Kirk and Jesse Kirk of Flatwoods and Francis Marion Porter and Ida Johnson Porter.
He was a retired cable hanger.
Additional survivors include his stepfather, Charles E. Moore of Ashland; a son, Jesse W. Cantrell of Florida; a grandchild, Logan Cantrell of Florida; and a brother, Rodney Porter of Plant City, Fla.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland by Chaplain Jim Smedley.

James T. Hayes - 1957-2008
James T. Hayes, 50, of Rush, Ky., died Saturday, May 17, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 23, 1957, in Leitchfield, Ky., a son of Betty Stevenson Pierce and the late James Hayes.
He was a retired truck driver with Davis & Burton Construction Co. and a veteran of the Marines.
Additional survivors include his stepfather, Elmo Pierce; three sons, Justin Hayes of Boyd County, Ky., Jeremy (Krista) Hayes of Russell, Ky., and Nathan Hayes of Ashland, Ky.; two granddaughters, Gabrielle Hayes and Chloe Hayes; a brother, Wayne Hayes of Leitchfield; and a sister, Rose Armstrong of Leitchfield.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Chaplain Jim Smedley.
Friends may call an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Robert Lee Fulton - 1931-2008
Robert Lee Fulton, 77, died May 18 after an extended illness with cancer.
Bob was born March 6, 1931, in Charleston, W.Va., and is the only son of the late Charles F. and Eunice Fulton of Madison, W.Va.
Bob graduated from Charleston High School and Marshall University and was a member of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed a rewarding career in sales and management with Ashland Oil Inc. Bob was a member of Roswell Presbyterian Church in Roswell, Ga.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Christina Jeffries Fulton of Suwanee, Ga.; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Godwin and John T. Godwin Jr.; granddaughters Ali, Ashley and Amanda Godwin of Duluth, Ga.; and sisters Charlotte Samples of Elkview, W.Va., and Phyllis Fulton of Madison, W.Va.
Worship services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Roswell Presbyterian Church.

Bonnie Lou McDowell Davis - 1967-2008
Bonnie Lou McDowell Davis, 41, of Ashland, Ky., died May 18, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 17, 1967, in Ashland, a daughter of the late James Monroe McDowell and Ina Mae Tackett McDowell.
Also preceding her in death were a brother-in-law, Dallace Hill.
She was a former employee of Jack’s South Ashland Market, a graduate of Boyd County High School and attended Second Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Danny Joe Davis of Ashland; two sons, Henry E. “Trey” Withrow III and wife Ashley and James Tyler Withrow, all of Ashland; stepdaughters Holly Elizabeth Carey and husband Shane and Emily Suzanne Davis, both of Ashland; brothers Buddy James McDowell of Catlettsburg, Jerry Lee McDowell and wife Gina of Chillicothe, Ohio, Jonathan Ricky McDowell and wife Lillian of Catlettsburg, Michael Edward McDowell and wife Angel of Catlettsburg, Donald Ray McDowell and wife Michelle of Ashland and Frankie Short and wife Tina of Ashland; a sister, Vickie Lynn McDowell Hill of Ashland; a stepgrandchild, Alexis Brooke Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Randy Skaggs. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Ned Baldridge - 1924-2008
Ned Baldridge, 84, of Wurtland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Baldridge was born April 21, 1924, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Newton and Laura Roberta Stevens Baldridge. He was also preceded in death by his first and fourth wife, Margaret Eggers Baldridge; his second wife, Erdean Snider Baldridge; his third wife, Myrtle Conley Baldridge; and two brothers, Glennard Baldridge and Ballard Baldridge.
He was a retired carman for the C&O Railroad; a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America; a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of Howard Thomas American Legion Post 43 in Raceland, Ky.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Swann of Jackson, Mich.; a sister, Agnes Ballard of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Pat Baldridge of Lloyd, Ky.; four grandchildren; 13 stepchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by the Rev. Follett Abdon. Burial will be in Stevens Cemetery in Greenup, Ky.

Paul E. Brown - 1925-2008
Paul E. Brown, 82, of Flatwoods, Ky., died May 18, 2008, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center.
He was born July 17, 1925, in Greenup, Ky., a son of the late Herbert S. and Bertha Pruitt Brown. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Ella Reffitt Brown; a grandson, Tommy Brown Pifer; brothers Adam Brown and Homer Brown; and sisters Laura Brown and Myrtle Brown Bradley.
He was a general foreman in the maintenance shop of Armco and a member of Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church, Smith Lodge 775, F&AM, in Flatwoods and the National Rifle Association. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Purple Heart.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothea Farson Brown of Flatwoods; a son, Michael (Cheryl) Brown of Kenwood, Ky.; a daughter, Joyce (Gary) Salyer of Grayson, Ky.; a brother, John Brown of Greenup; a special niece, Sharon Smith; and two grandchildren, Mickey Brown and Mattie Brown.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Michael L. Locklear. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, with military rites by Ironton VFW Post 8850.

Eula Marie Keffer - 1924-2008
Eula Marie Keffer, 83, of Grayson, Ky., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at her residence. She was born May 22, 1924, a daughter of the late Ellis Labern and Josie Milton VanHorn.
She was of the Christian faith and a hardworking farmer’s wife.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Calloway; a son, John William Keffer; four brothers, Willard, Jack, Charles and Raymond VanHorn; and four sisters, Irene Conley, Mable Felty, Jean Locke and Edith VanHorn.
She was also preceded by her husband, Wesley Keffer, in 2007.
Her survivors include three daughters, Martha Jane “and Charles” Kouns of Hitchins, Ky., Josie “and Randy” McGlone of Grayson and Sally “and Elwood” Ebert of Grayson; two sons, Bruce “and Anna” Keffer of Grayson and Steven Wesley “and Karen” Keffer of Huntington, W.Va.; a sister, Lois Moore of Oldtown, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Burial will be in Keffer Family Cemetery.

Donald D. White - 1932-2008
Donald D. White, 75, of Coal Grove, Ohio, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Ashland, a son of the late Roy Lee and Irene Robbins White.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Freda Hankins White, on May 19, 2000.
He was former owner and operator of D&D Refrigeration and Plumbing, a member of Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church of Coal Grove, a veteran and a member of the VFW and Ashland Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Seth White of Coal Grove and Donald White of Ashland; and a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Shirley White of Ashland.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Highland Memorial Gardens Chapel in South Point, Ohio, by the Rev. Roger Pierce.

Saundra Leach, 63, of Olive Hill, died Monday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Her husband, Darrell Leach, survives.

Ova Mae Martin Warrens, 91, of Eastern, wife of Earl Warrens, died Saturday in Sanctuary at the Crossing in Dublin, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Northern.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial was in Martin Cemetery in Eastern.
Willis Spears - 1932-2008
Willis Spears, 75, of East Point, husband of Wilma Hunter Spears, died Sunday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born Oct. 19, 1932.

Jared Thomas Hackler, 20, of Louisa, died Sunday in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
He was born July 6, 1987, in Tuscola, Ill.
