Tim Buckley - 1948-2008
Timothy Ray Buckley, 59, of St. Louis, formerly of Ashland, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, following a brief illness.
Tim was born June 25, 1948, in Ashland, a son of Ruth Sparks Buckley Lawhorn of Flatwoods and the late Francis Marion Buckley. Tim was a 1966 graduate of Fairview High School. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a national service officer for AMVETS with the VA Regional Center in St. Louis. He was a member of Fred M. Gross Lodge 953, F&AM, Ironton VFW Post 8850, American Legion Clarence Fields Post 76 and AMVETS Post 108.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Buckley, and his grandparents who raised him, Frank and Sarah Buckley.
He is survived by two daughters, Tiffany Callihan and Sarah Buckley, both of Ashland; a son, Timothy Ryan “T.R.” Buckley of Ashland; his fiancée of 10 years, Jessie Elana “Ellen” Louis of St. Louis; his mother, Ruth Buckley Lawhorn of Flatwoods; and two grandsons, Jackson Sheets and Carter Callihan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood by Pastor Raymond Stephens. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Military services will be conducted by Ironton VFW Post 8850.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday by officers and brothers of Fred M. Gross Lodge 853, F&AM.

Kendrick Gillispie
Kendrick Gillispie, 83, passed away on May 12, 2008, at Doctor’s West in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Greenup, Ky. Kendrick worked as a corrections officer with the Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections. His nickname was Mumbles. He loved to cook and work in his garden.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Christopher and Virgie, and a son, Rodney.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Helen; daughters Gayle (Gale) Virgin and Lisa (Robert) Ward; son Jeff Gillispie; grandchildren, Todd (Tiffany) Virgin, Jeffrey (Janelle) Chad, Tamara (William) Walker, Brittany (Jared) Temple and Ryan Slaughter; great-grandchildren Zachary, Payton, Sophia, Jadelynn and Jenaveive and 10 others; and brother Eugene (Eunice) Gillispie. He enjoyed his grandchild Twinkie and his pet Chief. He will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel in Columbus. Interment will be in Darbyville Cemetery in Muhlenberg Township, Ohio.

Spc. Jeremy R. Gullett - 1985-2008
U.S. Army Spc. Jeremy Raymond Gullett, 22, of Greenup, Ky., was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Sabari District, Afghanistan.
Mr. Gullett was born June 4, 1985, in Ashland, Ky., a son of Harold Raymond and Cheryl Dillow Gullett of Greenup.
Mr. Gullett was a member of the 4th Battalion 320th Field Artillery Regiment 4th Brigade Combat Team 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky., the Little Sandy Volunteer Fire Department and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a 2003 graduate of Greenup County High School, where he was a member of the Marine Corps Junior ROTC.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Chester Gene Gullett and U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Maxwell Dillow.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of three years, Janeth Ygana Gullett of Greenup; two daughters, Kaye Ygana of Albuera, Philippines, and Katie Gullett of Greenup; a brother, Chester (Brandy) Gullett of South Shore, Ky.; a sister, Jennipher (Jeff) Kouns of Greenup; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mario Lucanas and Elvira Ebero Ygana of Albuera; his maternal grandmother, Diane Dillow of Manchester, Ohio; his paternal grandmother, Vonda Boyle Gullett of Greenup; a nephew, Corbin Kouns; and two nieces, Hailey Gullett and Chae Kouns.
Funeral servicse will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Wurtland Middle School by Dr. Deron Newman. Burial will be in Gullett Family Cemetery in Greenup.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and after noon Saturday at the school. The U.S. Army will perform full military rites and there will be Fire Fighters Honors.

Joan Bernice Deitschle
Joan Bernice Darenkamp Deitschle, 74, of Fort Thomas, Ky., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Carmel Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Deitschle was a legal secretary with Bischoff & Hehl Law Office, a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Fort Thomas and secretary of Northern Kentucky Right to Life.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Deitschle of Fort Thomas; two daughters, Debora (Larry) Jones of Ashland, Ky., and Deana (Mike) Carnevale of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, Daniel (Karen) Deitschle of Cold Spring, Ky.; a brother, Albert Darenkamp of Perry Park, Ky.; and nine grandchildren, Candace, Heather and Ryan Howe, all of Fort Thomas, Andrea, Christine and Nicholas Carnevale, all of Cincinnati, and Michelle, Jennifer and Robert Deitschle, all of Cold Spring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1803 N. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, Ky. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Ky.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Meuhlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 S. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas.

Randy J. “Joe” Ratliff, 42, of Ashland, died Tuesday at his residence.

James Roger Queen, 64, of West Portsmouth, Ohio, formerly of South Shore, died Monday in Hospice Center at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Greenup County.
