Karen Damron (1963-2008)
Karen Artrip Damron, 45, of Ashland, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Damron was born March 2, 1963, in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of the late Charles and Phyllis Johnson Artrip. She was a loving homemaker.
Karen leaves behind her adoring family — her husband of 14 years, Jerry Damron; a son, Matt Damron of Ashland; a stepson, Greg Robinson of Ashland; four brothers, Butch (Mary) Artrip of Ashland, Randall (Sandy) Artrip of South Point, Ohio, and Ronnie (Ruth) Artrip and Tony (Sherry) Artrip, all of Ashland; and three sisters, Debra Stephens, Beverly (Buddy) Hale and Lisa (Kevin) Geary, all of Ashland.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Donna Harris.
A graveside service for Karen Damron will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Dixon Cemetery in Westwood.
Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Walter Johnson.
Those wishing to call on the Damron family may do so Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg.
Ernest Robinette Jr. (1923-2008)
Ernest Robinette Jr., 84, of Catlettsburg, husband of Helen Cumbo Robinette, passed away Wednesday night, May 7, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center following an extended illness.
Ernest was born May 27, 1923, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a son of the late Ernest Sr. and Lillian Carraway Robinette.
He was retired from the Boyd County Board of Education and the Ashland Vocational Technical School. He was a retired dairy farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a Kentucky colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Michael Robinette; a brother, Thomas E. Robinette; and a sister, Gloria Robinette Spurlock.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are a son, Richard (Sue) Robinette of Catlettsburg; a sister, Betty Holbrook of Catlettsburg; two grandchildren, Kimberly Boyd of Ashland and Mark Robinette of Catlettsburg; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Shawn Arrowood and Hunter Boyd, all of Ashland, and Clay and Carli Robinette of Catlettsburg.
A funeral service in honor of Ernest Robinette Jr., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Bruce Pickard. Final rest will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Lena Black
Lena Mae Adkins Black, 78, of West Liberty, died Wednesday in West Liberty.
Her husband, Charles Black, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Lacy Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Arlene Dale (1932-2008)
Arlene Moore Dale, 75, of Paintsville, died Wednesday in Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington.
She was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Floyd County.
Her husband, Ernest “Bill” Dale, died in 1994.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Albert Jones (1921-2008)
Albert C. Jones, 86, of Lorain, died Monday in the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
He was born Sept. 17, 1921, at Muddy Branch, Ky., and was the husband of Peggy Hanners Jones.
A graveside service will be today in Lorain.
Patricia Callicoat (1931-2008)
Patricia Callicoat, 77, of Ironton, died Wednesday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
She was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Lawrence County.
Her husband, Howard McKinley Callicoat, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Violet Curtis
Violet Curtis, 62, of Ceredo, died Wednesday.
Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home in Ceredo is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
