David Keith Isaacs - 1945-2009
David Keith Isaacs, 63, of Ashland died Friday morning, May 8, 2009, at his residence. He was born June 30, 1945, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the late William H. “Bill” and Mary Mildred Seagraves Isaacs. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Brenda J. Gauze Isaacs. He was retired from CSX with 40 years of service during which he served on the safety committee. He also was a firefighter and chief engineer with the Summit-Ironville Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He was an established guitarist and all around musician. He had played with many of the local bands over the years and enjoyed playing with friends and family.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Christie Lynn Isaacs Burgess, who passed away in 2003; and one brother, William Milford Isaacs.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one brother, Bill Isaacs of Catlettsburg; four sisters, Diane (Delbert) Kirk of Greenup; Debra (Duane) Kemp of Ashtabula, Ohio, Jackie (Allen) Smith of Lexington, and Jacinda (Frank) Layne of Catlettsburg; five grandchildren, Dustin Manning Burgess, Tiffanie Michelle Moore, BreAnn Nichole Burgess, Hannah Lynn Isaacs, and Madison Kenzie Isaacs; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Matthew Shanks; mother-in-law, Clotine Gauze of Ashland; two brothers-in-law, Jeffery Gauze of Florida and Jim Gauze of Carter County; his best friend, Carl Triplett; and a host a loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland, with Pastor Leo Glancey officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Robert "Ace" Bowman - 1938-2009
Robert "Ace" Bowman, 70, of Ashland, went home Friday morning, May 8, 2009, to be with his Lord and Saviour surrounded by his family and friends. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Mr. Bowman, a son of the late Clifford Bowman and Geraldine McGuire, was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Coal Grove, Ohio. He was a graduate of Ashland High School and a 40 year employee of the AK Steel maintenance department, where he retired in 1999. He was a member of the Rush Lodge 715 F&AM, the United Steel Workers Local 1865 and Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.
Ace was a Tomcat football player and a lifelong fan and supporter of the Tomcats. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his grandchildren as a Tomcat football player and cheerleader. It gave him great comfort to know that his family would one day join him in heaven.
Sadly left behind is an adoring family including his wife of 50 years, Sandra Clark Bowman; one beautiful daughter, Kelly (J.T.) Norris of Ashland; three brothers, Tom (Barbara) Bowman of Ironton, C. Bowman of Arizona, and Garland McGuire of Florida; three sisters, Marilyn (Dale) Rudolph and Nancy (Tom) Norris, all of Ironton and Linda Bowman of Ashland; two precious grandchildren, Clark and Jane Ann Norris.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, James Bowman; and two sisters, Jane Hill and Shelby Troyer.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Mike Blankenship. Final rest to follow a committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Those wishing to call on the Bowman family may do so after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family has requested contributions to be made to the Oakland Avenue Baptist Church building fund or CARES Ministry, P.O. Box 1503, Ashland, KY 41101.
Alice Sutphin Caproni
Alice Sutphin Caproni, 82, of Worthington died Saturday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
Arrangements are pending at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
Teresa Goodpastor
Teresa Goodpastor, 45, of West Liberty died Friday at the home of her brother.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Elam Cemetery in West Liberty.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Carolyn Alice Keaton - 1949-2009
Carolyn Alice Keaton, 59, of Webbville died Saturday at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
She was born July 4, 1949 in Blaine.
Her husband, James Rodney Keaton, survives.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Watterson Church in Irish Creek. Burial will be in Keaton Cemetery in Abb Creek.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at the church.
Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of the arrangements.
Charles “Jack” Francis Phillips - 1919-2009
Charles “Jack” Francis Phillips, 89, of Decatur, Ohio, died Friday at a local health care center in Ironton.
He was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Lawrence County, Ohio.
His wife, Lottie Charline Rogers Phillips, preceded him in death.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery in Decatur.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
