Clyde Davis - 1919-2008
Surrounded by his loving family, Clyde Lester Davis of Ashland, passed away early Thursday morning, May 1, 2008, in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Davis was 88 years of age, born May 29, 1919, in Pikeville, Ky., a son of the late James Monroe and Pauline Maynard Davis. His wife of 65 years, Phyllis Ross Davis, preceded him in death in 2005. He was a self-employed carpenter.
Clyde leaves behind his loving family, a son, Paul Davis and his wife, Karen of Catlettsburg; a daughter, Dianna Christian and her husband, Richard of Ashland; two sisters, Kathleen Barber of Ashland and Jean Caudill of Great Falls, Mont.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father and mother, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his son, Handley Lee Davis; a brother, John Davis; a sister, Faye Thompson; and two grandchildren, Paul Lee Davis and Karen Leslie Davis.
A brief committal service will be at Rose Hill Burial Park at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, where he will be laid to rest. The family will share a personal eulogy with those in attendance.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the cemetery chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4338 13th St., Ashland, KY 41101, or the American Heart Association, 1544 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Judy Carol Blackburn Anderson - 1953-2008
Judy Carol Blackburn Anderson, age 54, of Ashland, Ky., died May 1, 2008 in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
She was born Aug. 7, 1953, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of the late David L. and Kathleen Kelly Blackburn.
She was an actress, singer, musician and teacher. She has traveled the United States and Mexico many times and loved to travel. She was of the Baptist faith, and graduated with honors and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Morehead State University. She had a deep love for her pets.
Surviving are her companion, Jerry Morris of Ashland; and one brother, John Roger Blackburn and his wife, Josephine of Rush, Ky.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. David Lemming. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Cecil Phillip Adams - 1939-2008
Cecil Phillip Adams, 69, of Russell, Ky., died May 1, 2008 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1939, in Magoffin County, Ky., a son of the late Bruce and Pearlie Litteral Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Sue Conley Adams of Russell; two sons, Phillip (Robin) Adams of Findlay, Ohio,and Jimmy Adams of Russell; two grandsons, Dane and A.J. Adams of Russell; and Kaci Boyd, who was like a granddaughter.
Surviving siblings include Pauline Prater of Salyersville, Ky., Geraldine (Oliver) Conley of Oil Springs, Ky., Barbra Spradlin of West Liberty, Ky., and Jack (Peggy) Adams of Oil Springs; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Cecil in death were siblings, Gertrude Prater and Harmon Adams.
Cecil retired from the Ashland Inc. Pipeline Operations Center and was a Kentucky colonel. He was a 1957 graduate of Oil Springs High School and a member of Pigeon Enterprise Baptist Church. Cecil was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed watching Dane and A.J. play baseball and Kaci play golf. He was a firm believer in family values and tight family unit. He thoroughly enjoyed the many gatherings the family had.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods and conducted by Brother Junior Womack and Brother Paul Martin. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mimmel Travis - 1923-2008
Mimmel Conley Travis, 85, of Ashland, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Morgan County.
Her husband, James E. Travis, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Committal will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Charles F. Meeks, husband of Bonnie Grayson Meeks of Palmetto, Fla., formerly of Ashland, died Friday at his residence.

James Robert “J.R.” McBrayer, 24, of Greenup, died Friday in Greenup County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Aug. 21, 1983, in Ashland.

Thomas H. Baldridge, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, died Thursday at his residence.
He was born in Prestonsburg.
His wife, Joyce Boyle Baldridge, survives.

Marie Wells Coleson, 92, of Frenchburg, died Wednesday in Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg.

He was born June 7, 1925, in Haldeman.
His wife, Kathryn Butler Christian, survives.
