Julianne Presley King
Julianne Presley King, daughter of James W. and Lora K. Gipson King of Ashland, died April 30, 2008, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Additional survivors include grandparents Joye King of Ashland and the late John W. King and Anna Gipson of Flatwoods, Ky., and the late Joe Paul Gipson; and a sister, Kayla King of Columbus, Ohio.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today, May 2, 2008, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods by Pastor Kevin West.
Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.
Rosanna Call - 1924-2008
Rosanna Call, 83, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
She was born July 29, 1924, in South Webster, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles Lowell and Della Mae Hughey Call.
She was a retired telephone operator at Gospel Publishing House in Springfield, Mo., and a member of Rockdale Full Gospel Assembly.
Surviving are a brother, Roy Gerald Call of Springfield; and a sister, Eunice M. Stanley of Ashland.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Tony Daniels. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woodland Oaks Patient Care Fund, 1820 Oakview Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
Marie Church - 1922-2008
Marie Rice Church, 86, of Ashland, surrounded by her loving family, passed away early Thursday morning, May 1, 2008, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland.
Also preceding her in death was a brother, Charles Rice.
Mrs. Church was born March 7, 1922, in Lawrence County, Ky., a daughter of the late Con and Stella Moore Rice. Her husband, James Church, preceded her in death. Marie was a homemaker with family at the center of her life and a caregiver at heart. She attended Newcomb Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Timmy Church, and his wife, Debbie, of Ashland; three brothers, Arnold Rice, and his wife, Barbara, and Eskel Rice and his wife, Cynthia, all of Ashland, and August Rice of Rush, Ky; two sisters, May Hensley and Louise Buckley, both of Ashland; two grandchildren, John Church and Melissa Church; a precious great-grandchild; and a little curly companion, J.P.
A service in honor of Marie Church will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Glen Michael Bartley. Final rest will be in Hensley Cemetery in Ashland.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Jeanne Dawson Judd - 1923-2008
Jeanne Dawson Judd, 84, of Russell, Ky., died April 29, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1923, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late C.W. “Benny” Dawson and Ruth Kilbourne Dawson.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church( Disciples of Christ), the DAR and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and volunteered at the Kentucky Highlands Museum, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital and hospitals in Middletown, Greensboro, Columbus and Minneapolis and was very active in AIM (Arts in Middletown). She did professional modeling with Montaldo’s in Greensboro and was involved in Community Theatre in Greensboro and Philadelphia. She graduated from and was a former teacher at Ashland High School and was very passionate about volunteer work and civic activities in the communities she lived in.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Bailey, and husband Tom of Russell; a brother, William “Barlow” Dawson, and wife Liz of Russell; grandchildren Brian Bailey of DeKalb, Ill., and Rebecca Bailey of Brookings, S.D.; and nieces and nephews Mark Dawson, Lennie (Valerie) Dawson, Barbara Lucas and Debbie (Larry) Drake.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ike Nicholson. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the funeral home.

Clyde Lester Davis, 88, of Ashland, died Thursday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Davis was born May 29, 1919, in Pikeville. His wife, Phyllis Ross Davis, died in 2005.
A committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, where he will be laid to rest.
Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery chapel.

Mimmel Conley Travis, 85, of Ashland, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923. Her husband, James E. Travis, survives.

He was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Webbville.

He was born March 31, 1925.
His wife, Delores May Webb, survives.
