Nina M. Duncan (1927-2009)
Nina Mae Duncan, 81, of Brushy Road, Lynn, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2009, in Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wurtland, Ky.
Mrs. Duncan was born Oct. 27, 1927, at Toler, Ky., a daughter of the late Elliott Sr. and Rosa Hinkle Murphy.
She was a retired beautician and operated Nina’s Beauty Shop in South Shore for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Landon Duncan; three sons, Billy Joe Duncan, John L. Duncan and Paul David Duncan; three brothers, Harold Murphy, James Thomas Murphy and Elliott Murphy Jr.; three sisters, Ruth Murphy, Madline Whiting and Mary Ann Hieneman; and a grandson, Matthew Duncan.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (Sarah) Duncan of Allentown, Pa.; four daughters, Rose Ann Duncan Brown of Wurtland, Ky., Alice (Roger) Wireman of Rush, Ky., Mary Elizabeth (Richard) Smith of Tallahassee, Fla., and Ruth (Ted) Tuttle of Corbin, Ky.; a sister, Lillie Brown of South Shore, Ky.; 16 grandchildren, Steve Vansickle, Stacey Hicks, Sheena Lore, Frankie Moore, Casey Smith, Chad Grayson, Erik Landan Tuttle, Jessica Tuttle, Alanda Michelle Carpenter, Sherry Ellinwood, Paul David Duncan Jr., Tommy Duncan, Ryan Duncan, Bryan Duncan, Doris Darlene Duncan and Alisha Duncan; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by the Rev. Roger Wireman. Burial will be in Craft Cemetery on Brushy Road at Lynn.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Sunday at the funeral home.
Frances Marie Brown (1922-2009)
Frances Marie “Granny” Brown, 87, of Greenup, died Thursday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Jan. 12, 1922, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of the late Linzie and Amanda “Mandy” Jarrell Damron. She was the wife of James F. Brown, who died on June 26, 1980.
She was a cashier for the Russell YMCA and a member of Rebekah Lodge and the Democratic Woman’s Club. She attended Greenup Christian Church.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Roger E. Brown, who died on May 22, 1998.
Survivors include a son, James B. (Carolyn) Brown of Raceland; two daughters, Ellen (Don) Traylor and Joyce Birch, both of Greenup; a sister, Ester Childers of Mouthcard; and eight grandchildren, Lori Brown Stewart of Greenup, Jim (Tina) Birch of Rineyville, Beth (Paul) Besco of Pedro, Ohio, Mike (Brandy) Brown of Ashland, Melinda (Morgan) Elkins of Raceland, Louie Baker of Greenup, Kim Vanhorne of Hitchins and Charlie Ed (Tina) Birch of Wurtland; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup with Earl Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery at Lloyd.

Lorraine Hieneman (1929-2009)
Lorraine Nelson Hieneman, 80, of Greenup, Ky., wife of the late Horace Hieneman Jr., passed over to the other side of the circle in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., on Friday, May 1, 2009.
She was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Boyd County, Ky., the daughter of the late Logan and Eva Nelson.
Lorraine was also preceded in death by her first two husbands, Paul K. Smith and Paul K. Kelley; a son, Gary Lee Kelley; a stepson, Paul Allen Kelley; a brother, James Franklin Nelson; and three sisters, Oma Mankin, Cloteen Kelly and Elmarie Boyle.
She was last employed by Northeast Transportation as a transport driver for the Greenup Senior Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lloyd, Ky., where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also loved to read, travel, decorate her home. Lorraine and her husband, June, were award-winning square dancers.
Lorraine had four loving children of whom she was extremely proud. Those left behind to celebrate her life include two sons, Paul D. Smith and his wife, Marcia, of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Jarred C. Hieneman and his wife, Teri, of North Prairie, Wis.; a daughter, Pam Nelson and her husband, James, of Greenup; a daughter-in-law, Patty Kelley of Catlettsburg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup. Officiating the service will be Brother Harry Sanders. Burial will be in Hieneman Cemetery in Greenup County.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the funeral home.

Lori Lynn LeMaster Sammons (1971-2009)
Lori Lynn LeMaster Sammons, 37, of Grayson, Ky., passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 25, 1971, in Morehead, Ky., a daughter of Harold Denver and Martha Taylor LeMaster of Grayson.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Linda Hall Sammons.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Ronald Edward Sammons Sr. of Grayson; a son, Ronald Edward Sammons Jr., at home; a daughter, Ronda Darlene (Brent Anthony) Roy of Grayson; three brothers, Randy Seagraves of Grayson, Wylie Keith LeMaster of Mansfield, Ohio, and Harold Edward James of Ashland, Ky.; her father-in-law, Ronald Douglas Sammons; her brother-in-law, Billy Sammons; and sisters-in-law Connie Sammons and Dorena Sammons.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Steve Owens, minister. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 3 and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robert Gale “Bob” Dickerson (1952-2009)
Robert Gale Dickerson, 56, of Grayson, died Thursday morning, April 30, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 14, 1952, in Grayson, a son of the late James Edward and Ruby Salyers Dickerson.
Robert was a 1970 graduate of Prichard High School and attended Morehead State University. He was a self-employed real estate agent and a member of Old Town Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dan McGlone.
He is survived by his wife, Larena McGlone Dickerson; a son, Robert Gale “Rob” Dickerson II of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters, Blake (Brent) Adams of Georgetown, Ky., and Kayla (Charlie) Simmons of Grayson; five brothers, Don (Linda) Dickerson of Commerce, Mich., Larry (Wanda) Dickerson of Sandy Hook, Bill (Donna) Dickerson of Grayson, Tom Dickerson of Ashland and Richard (Kim) Dickerson of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two granddaughters, Jade and Taylor Adams.
In addition to these, he is also survived by his mother-in-law, Martha McGlone of Olive Hill; a sister-in-law, Anita (Mike) Goucher of Versailles, Ky.; and a brother-in-law, Jerry McGlone of Olive Hill.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Ronnie Sisk. Burial will be in Stafford Hill-Cooper Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his brothers Larry, Bill, Tom and Richard Dickerson, his son, Rob Dickerson, Charlie Simmons and Mark Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Boggs, Frank Martin and Rodney Gross .

Hayse S. Pauley, 76, of Grayson, died Thursday.
He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Pilgrim.
His wife, Ruby Fletcher Pauley, survives.
The funeral will be at noon Monday at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. Burial will be in Pauley Family Cemetery in Grayson.

Raymond Hughes, 75, of Lucasville, Ohio, died Wednesday in Edgewood One Nursing Home in Lucasville.
He was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Belfry.

Ronald Allen Adkins, 55, of Morehead, died Thursday at his residence.
He was born July 14, 1953.
