Barry Shane Blackburn - 1968-2008
Barry Shane Blackburn, age 39, of Russell, Ky., passed unexpectedly April 24, 2008 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Barry was born June 30, 1968, a son of Sue Blackburn and the late Lester Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Davis Blackburn; two children, Shane Christian Blackburn and Maxxton Keith Blackburn; a sister, Leslie Blackburn-Herzog and brother-in-law, Stephen Herzog of Ashland, Ky.; sister and brother-in-law, Ray and Angie Jarvis; niece, Brittany Morgan Herzog of Bowling Green, Ky.; nephew, Keith Karson Jarvis; and grandparents, Paul and Mary Preston of Grayson, Ky.; and many family, lifelong friends and neighbors whose life he touched.
Barry graduated from Russell High School in 1986. Following his service in the United States Navy, he was employed at Addington Brothers Mining and Kentucky Electric Steel for a number of years. He and his father embarked on the creation of the Eagle’s Nest Golf Course in 1996. Subsequently, he relocated to Florida and pursued his passion specializing in Golf Course Construction Design. Barry was an exceptionally gifted musician and singer/songwriter with the natural talent to play by ear. Barry had many hobbies, including fishing, camping and boating but his #1 priority was his family. Barry devoted his entire life to his family. He was a loving, caring husband and a remarkable father. He enjoyed baseball, football, basketball or any sport or activity that his son was involved in. He loved both his children, Maxx and Shane, with all his heart.
He attended Bridges Christian Church and had recently rededicated his life to Christ in December 2007. Barry will be forever missed but his spirit will live on in each of us who were blessed to have known him.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Bridges Christian Church. Interment will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Following the services, friends and family are invited to the home of Stephen and Leslie Herzog.

Harold Carroll - 1934-2008
Harold Douglas Carroll, age 73, of Grayson passed from this life to be with his heavenly father on Friday, April 25, 2008, in Cornerstone Hospital, following a brief illness.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Carter County, and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hattie Smith Carroll.
Mr. Carroll was a member of Barretts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was retired from Kentucky Electric Steel, where he worked for 34 years. He was a crane operator, and he was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of United Steel Workers Local 7054.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers; Reuben Carroll, Walter Carroll Jr. and Raymond Carroll; a sister, Marie Nolting; a father-in-law, Harry Pope and a brother-in-law, Tom Pope.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Jane Pope Carroll, of Grayson. They had a friendship and love few people have been blessed to share. They cherished their three children; a son, William Douglas Carroll and wife Shirley, of Grayson, a son, Gregory (Greg) Wayne Carroll and wife, Patti, of Webbville; a daughter, Susan Mignon Colley and husband, Randy, of Grayson.
His loving presence and laughter will be missed by two sisters, Laura Mae Carroll, of Connersville, Ind., and Betty Louise Prichard and husband, Doug, of Franklin, Ohio; mother-in-law, Faye Pope and husband, Clayton, of Grayson; four sisters-in-law, Maxine Carroll, of Anderson, Ind., Maxine Carroll, of Grayson, Opal Wilson, of Dover, Tenn., Sue Wellman and husband, Harold, of Grayson; a brother-in-law, Tony Pope and wife, Bee, of Grayson; four granddaughters, Dawn Keffer, Whitney Carroll, Brandy Colley and Brianna Colley; three step grandchildren, Willard Knipp, III, Lisa Salmons and Crystal Shepherd; and seven great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by many other beloved family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 29th, 2008, at Barretts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Jim Stephens will deliver a message of faith and hope, and Pastor Brian Bush will deliver a heartfelt eulogy. Special music will be by the Barretts Creek Baptist Church Choir. Burial will follow in East Carter County Memory Gardens, in Grayson.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.

David Timberlake - 1946-2008
H. David Timberlake, 61, of South Shore died Thrusday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
He was born April 28, 1946, in Walsh.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morton Funeral Homein South Shore. Burial will be in Bennetts Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Grace Barber
Grace Barber, 91, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Grayson died Saturday at the Hospice Care Center in Dayton.
Arrangements are pending at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson.

Everett Osborne - 1922-2008
Everett Eugene Osborne, 85, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Prestonsburg, died Wednesday at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Melbourne.
He was born May 7, 1922.
His wife, Gloria Meade Osborne, survives.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mayo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg.

Paul W. Sierer
Paul W. Sierer, 81, of Ironton died Saturday at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Rachel Leffingwell - 1935-2008
Rachel Ann Leffingwell, 72, of Ironton died Friday at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born June 14, 1935, in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Her husband, Fred Leffingwell, preceded her in death.
Private funeral services will be at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Edward McClees - 1920-2008
Edward L. McClees, 88, of Franklin Furnace died Friday at the home of his daughter, Sue Kilgore.
He was born March 26, 1920 in Portsmouth.

Viola “Nanny” Cremeans of Troy, Ohio, died Friday at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.
She was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Greenup County.
Her husband, Elmer Cremeans, preceded her in death.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
