Jeffrey Quinn Cooksey - 1952-2008
Jeffrey Quinn Cooksey, 55, of Ashland, Ky., died April 21, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following an extended illness.
He was born April 30, 1952, in Ashland, a son of the late Kermit Quentin and Mary Brown Cooksey.
He was a self-employed photographer and a substitute teacher. He was a 1970 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and a member of Beech Street Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Arrington Cooksey of Ashland; a son, Tyler Cooksey of Ashland; a brother, David Cooksey and wife Ingrid of Marietta, Ga.; a nephew, Grant Cooksey; two nieces, Chloe and Lysette Cooksey of Marietta; and a special aunt, Clara Mae Worley of Ashland.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Kenneth Vaughn, minister. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Emilie Yvonne Harrison - 1936-2008
Emilie Yvonne Harrison, 72, of Monument, Colo., formerly of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Mrs. Harrison was born March 23, 1936, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Morton D. Sr. and Agatha Field Gearhart.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Gearhart.
She was retired from hotel management in Vail, Colo., a 1954 graduate of Ashland High School and an honorary Kentucky colonel. She was a councilwoman for the city of Avon, Colo., from 1986 through 1989.
Surviving are her husband, Carl E. Harrison of Monument; a son, Andy Harrison and wife Linda of Pasadena, Calif.; two daughters, Cindy Harrison-Hickey and husband Steven and Heidi Harrison, all of Monument; a brother, Morton D. Gearhart Jr. of Gallatin, Tenn.; four sisters, Betty Ellen Nuckols of Ashland, Carol Ruth Odle of Monument and Sharon R. Artis and Sally G. Streets, both of Lexington, Ky.; and a granddaughter, K. Nicole Thomas of Richmond Hill, Ga.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Lance Campbell. Burial will be in Martin-Gearhart Cemetery.

Katherine McDowell - 1926-2008
Mary Katherine Miller McDowell, 81, of South Shore, Ky., died Sunday, April 20, 2008, in South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Fletcher Miller and Susie Banks Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Franklin McDowell, on Dec. 2, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty June McDowell; a brother, Roy Miller; and two sisters, Gladys Volgares and Opal Johnson.
She is survived by two daughters, Amanda (Don) Keibler of South Shore and Paula (Luke) Frantz of Valrico, Fla.; a son, John (Sue) McDowell of South Shore; two granddaughters, Cindy Hungate and Shelby Frantz; three grandsons, Chad Keibler, Jacob McDowell and Derek Frantz; and three great-grandchildren, Miranda Hungate, Julieanna Keibler and Levi McDowell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore by Dudley Morton. Burial will be in Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sylvia LeMaster - 1918-2008
Sylvia LeMaster, 89, of Grayson, died Saturday morning in Golden Living Center in Vanceburg.
Mrs. LeMaster was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Jack and Sarah Hamilton LeMaster.
She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a former factory worker in the Chicago area in the 1950s. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Noble LeMaster, and a half sister, Joann Breedon.
She is survived by a half sister, Madge LeMaster of Sun City, Ariz.; a half brother, Edwin LeMaster of London, Ky.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special aunt whom she dearly loved and who had been her caregiver, Carrie Stamper of Grayson.
Funeral service were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Ron Arnett. Burial was in McGuire/Fairview Cemetery in Hitchins.

Rebecca Richey Ferguson - 1922-2008
Rebecca Richey Ferguson, 85, of 109 S. Boone St., Louisa, Ky., died April 21, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Ferguson was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Baldwyn, Miss., a daughter of the late James Fletcher and Bessie Lee Hendrix Richey.
Her husband, Harold C. Ferguson, died in 2001.
She was a retired teacher’s aide with the Lawrence County Board of Education and a member of First Baptist Church of Louisa.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne (Richard) Storts of Louisa; a son, Stanley C. (Joann) Ferguson of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Majorie Potts of Knoxville, Tenn., and Zana Schlosser of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Michael Richey of Tupelo, Miss.; five grandchildren, Johnathan R. Storts, Foster Clay Ferguson, Lee Ward Ferguson, Lauren Shelby Diamond and James Richard Storts; and two great-grandchildren, Camran Diamond and Ella Brooke Ferguson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Louisa by Brother Ric Frazier. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International.

James E. Pennington, 71, of Argillite, husband of Marcella Headley, died Tuesday.

She was born June 21, 1922, in Floyd County.
Her husband, James Evans, died in 1991.
