David Pickett Jr.
David M. “Mike” Pickett Jr., 43, of Ashland died Friday, April 18, 2008, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Dec. 7, 1964, in Ashland, the son of David M. Pickett Sr., and wife, Jennie, of Ashland, and the late Virginia Stakley Pickett Pauley.
He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 214, Pace International Union, former employee of Pregis Co., and a member of the Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Survivors include two daughters, Holly Pickett and fiancé Aaron Conn of Ashland, and Shelly Pickett of Ashland; one brother, Jerome Pickett of Ashland; one aunt, Donna Stakley of Lexington; one uncle, John Robert Stakley of Ashland; and a special friend, Renea Blevins of Ashland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at a memorial visitation at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.
Cecil White (1921-2008)
Cecil “Pete” G. White, 87, of Russell went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2008, in Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born March 21, 1921, in Raceland, a son of the late Edward and Mary Jane Adkins White. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was a military police officer. He was a clerk at C&O Railroad for 42 years and he was a Sunday school superintendent for 30 years at Raceland Assembly of God.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Jerri Beth Horn; and one sister, Gwendolyn Clarke.
Survivors include his loving wife, Retta; one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Ronnie Boggs of Russell; one son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Greg and Nancy White of Carlonville, Ill.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Olive Reed of Raceland and Doris and Harold Bradley of Sharonville, Ohio; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Amie and Mike Keenan of Elkhard, Ind., Lynda Perry of Raceland, Cristen and Steve Thompson of Flatwoods, Bryan and Christi White of Effingham, Ill., Erin White of Minneapolis, Minn., Andrew White and Eric White, both of Waxahachie, Texas, and Kelly Phillips Freeman of Chandler, Okla.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, with the Rev. Troy Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Sylvia LeMaster (1918-2008)
Sylvia LeMaster, 89, of Grayson died Saturday at the Golden Living Center in Vanceburg. She was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Jack and Sarah Hamilton LeMaster.
She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a former factory worker in the Chicago area in the 1950s.
She is survived by one half-sister, Madge LeMaster of Sun City, Ariz.; one half-brother, Edwin LeMaster of London, Ky.; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special aunt who she dearly loved and who had been her care-giver, Carrie Stamper of Grayson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, with Ron Arnett officiating. Burial will be in the McGuire/Fairview Cemetery in Hitchins. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

David Maynard (1941-2008)
David B. Maynard, 66, of Louisa passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at his home. He was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Clifford, a son of the late Gray and Dolly Ratcliffe Maynard. He was the husband of Sharon A. Wright Maynard, who survives. He was retired from the Lawrence County Garage. He was a member of the Favored United Baptist Church in Cherryville.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Boggs; and a brother, Danny Maynard.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons and three daughters-in-law, David Gray, Lowell D. and Corrina and Allen and Sally, all of Louisa, and Jason and Kristie of Stamping Ground; a daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Clayton Sturgill of Louisa; a brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Carol Maynard of Louisa; two sisters, Frances Maynard of Louisa and Linda Sue Pete of Monroe, Mich.; five grandchildren, Korrina Renee, Deanna and Olivia Maynard, Dakota and Montanna Sturgill; one grandchild on the way; an aunt and her husband, Hazel and Jerry Pettit of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa. Burial will be in Maynard Family Cemetery in Louisa.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Barbara McDavid
Barbara Ann McDavid, 69, of Louisville, formerly of Grayson, died Friday.
Her husband, Robert McDavid, survives.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Burial will be in Everman Cemetery.
Visitation will from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Bennie Hall (1937-2008)
Bennie Lee Hall, 70, of Louisa died Friday at his home.
He was born July 23, 1937, in Louisa.
His wife, Gwendolyn Preece Hall, survives.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Preece Cemetery in Louisa.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Lester Maynard
Lester Henry Maynard, 66, of Columbus died Friday at Scioto Community in Columbus.
His wife, Janet, preceded him in death.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Maynard Family Cemetery in Clifford.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Graumlich Funeral Home in Columbus.

Darrell Melvin (1945-2008)
Darrell R. Melvin, 62, of Paintsville died Saturday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Aug. 10, 1945, in Johnson County.
His wife, Cathy Melvin, survives.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Staffordsville.
Thomas Hardwick (1979-2008)
Thomas “Reno” Hardwick, 29, of Fort Gay, W.Va., died Thursday in Kenova, W.Va.
He was born Feb. 13, 1979, in Huntington, W.Va.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa. Burial will be in the Charles Hardwick Cemetery in Fort Gay.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary Wise (1917-2008)
Mary P. Wise, 90, of Ironton died Thursday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
She was born April 24, 1917, in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Her husbands, Floyd Anderson Deer; and Clarence Andy Wise, preceded her in death.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton.

Charles “Mutt” Boggs, 77, of Kitts Hill died Thursday at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Ashland.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ironton City Mission Church in Ironton, Ohio. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery.

Edith Null (1935-2008)
Edith Mae Null, 72, of Kitts Hill died Friday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born May 20, 1935, in Pedro.
Her husband, Robert Null, preceded her in death.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Oakland Chapel Cemetery.
