Marie was a lifelong resident of Catlettsburg and lived at Grandview Manor for more than 25 years. She was a friend to all and loved by many who will remember her lively sense of humor and outgoing personality. She often said faith in God and an ability to keep laughing helped sustain her throughout life, especially during her recent illness. To her family, Marie was a devoted daughter, sister and loving mother.
During her early years, Marie worked with her sister, Irene, at Rainbow Art Glass in Huntington, painting glassware that can still be found in rare collections and fine antique shops. She was a waitress for many years at the fabled Steak House in Catlettsburg, greeting everyone with a warm smile and welcoming wit. Later, she was a longtime employee of Bowling Feed and Hardware, working for her dear friend, the late Kathleen Bowling.
Marie will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her sister, Doris Barker of Lakeland, Fla.; her brother, Robert Lambert of Ashland; a daughter, Donna Maynard of Catlettsburg; and a son, Donald “Brookie” (Lisa) Maynard of Catlettsburg. She was a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren, Shellee Marcum (John M.) Wilson, Jamie (Kristen) Marcum, Stephen Maynard and Brooke Maynard (John D.) Wilson, all of Catlettsburg. Marie was blessed with great-grandchildren Isaiah, Ciara, Connor and Georgia, who are all too young to have tasted Granny Moe's decadent homemade fudge.
