Raymond Brewer - 1928-2008
Raymond Brewer, 79, of Champaign, Ill., formerly of Kentucky, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at home.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Ill.
Mr. Brewer was born July 27, 1928, in Boyd County, Ky., a son of Edward and Pearl (White) Brewer. He married Betty J. Prevette on Jan. 29, 1949, in Taylorville, Ill. He passed away on Feb. 16, 1988. He later married Margaret Helen McKenzie on Dec. 27, 1991. She survives and lives in Flatwoods, Ky.
Surviving are daughters, Teresa “Terrie” (Robert) Brewer-Grindley of Farmer City, Ill., and Beckie (Eric) Heller of Champaign; a stepson, Ron McKenzie of Flatwoods; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, Roy Brewer of Ashland, Ky.; four grandchildren, Robert “RC” Grindley of Farmer City, Christopher (Heather) Heller of Urbana, and Brandon and Erica Heller, both of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son at birth; and a brother.
Mr. Brewer served in the U.S. Air Force as well as the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a WWII veteran.
He worked for the University of Illinois in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering as an instrument maker. He retired after 30 years employment.
Mr. Brewer was heavily involved in several societies and organizations, including the Masonic Blue Lodge in Catlettsburg, Ky., where he was a past master Mason, the Grand Lodge of Kentucky’s District No. 27 Present and Past Master’s Club, the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, F&AM, of Louisville, Ky., the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, El Hasa Shriners of Ashland, El Hasa Greenup County Shrine Club, the Carter County Shrine Club, the Morehead Shrine Club, the Rush Lodge of Traders and Confidence Degree and the Hillbilly Clan No. 1.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindenbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131-3597.
Owens Funeral Home in Champaign was in charge of arrangements.
Sherry Stambaugh-Croft - 1949-2008
Sharon Elizabeth Stambaugh-Croft, 58, passed from this life into eternal life on March 16, 2008 in Century City Hospital, Century City, Calif.
Sherry was born July 16, 1949, in Pikeville, Ky., to John Morgan and Dottie Lambert Stambaugh. The family moved to Ashland in 1957 where they established the His & Her Shop in South Ashland where at a young age Sherry worked in sales and displays. Sherry was a 1967 honor graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School, attended Ashland Community College and completed her education at Pitzer Women’s College in Claremont, Calif.
During her twenties, Sherry worked as a model and actress in Los Angeles, where she appeared in numerous movies and TV shows including Archie Bunker’s Place, Different Strokes and Days of Our Lives. Later, she was an established children’s commercial/theatrical manager. In later years, she was able to utilize her passion and multiple artistic abilities in original furniture design and construction. She was an avid woodworker, visual artist and needlepoint artist. The last six years she spent several weeks each summer in Ashland working with her sister, Lee Gibbs, in her photography studio where she made many connections with old friends and made many new friends. People were naturally drawn to her generous nature and she was loved and admired by all who knew her.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Timothy Doyle Croft of Studio City, Calif.; one son, John Clayton White (Karen) of Temecula, Calif.; one daughter, Alyson Elizabeth Crost of Hollywood, Calif.; her father, John Morgan Stambaugh of Ashland; one sister, Saundra Lee Stambaugh-Gibbs (Rocky) of Ashland; two grandsons, Evan Timothy White and Ian Alexander White of Temecula; one niece, Lauren Marie Gibbs Burgess (Joda) of Ashland and a nephew, Tyler Morgan Gibbs, also of Ashland.
The funeral took place March 27 at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Hollywood. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Tuesday, April 8 at Old Orchard Church of Christ, 3600 Blackburn Ave., at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sherry Stambaugh-Croft Scholarship Fund, which has been set up through Community Trust Bank to benefit an outstanding art or industrial arts student at Paul G. Blazer High School.
William Robert Stovall - 1940-2008
Bob Stovall of Ashland, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. Stovall was born in Greenville, Ky., the son of Evelyn Long of Lexington and the late William Morton Stovall.
Bob graduated from the University of Kentucky where he was a member of the golf team, UK band, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He received his undergraduate and master’s degree in metallurgical engineering. He retired from AK Steel after 30 years. Bob was a past president of the Ashland Rotary Club, where he worked closely with the Junior Achievement program. He was a member of Bellefonte Country Club, where he was a past board member and an avid golfer.
Surviving Bob are his wife, Mary Sue Kibbey Stovall; a son and daughter-in-law, William Kibbey (Janet Gagnon) Stovall of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Rey (Christopher Lasch) Stovall of Madison, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Grace Perry Hutchins and Rain Ellis Lasch.
Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Janice) Stovall and a niece and nephew, all of Lexington.
Bob donated his body to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. A private family service will be at a later date.
At his bequeath, a visitation with family to celebrate Bob’s life will be at Bellefonte Country Club on Sunday, April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the King’s Daughters and Sons Home or First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Ashland, Ky.
Pauline F. Prichard - 1927-2008
Pauline F. Prichard, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Elliott and Della Jordan Willis. She was a homemaker and a member of the South Ashland United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell E. Prichard; one sister and four brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Sue Prichard of Ashland; one son, Phillip E. Prichard and his wife, Sherry of Bellefonte; and two grandchildren, Emerson Stambaugh and Elliott Prichard.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Rose Hill Mausoleum by the Rev. Lance Campbell. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at the mausoleum.

Harry “Marvin” Miller, 81, formerly of Ashland, died Thursday in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, W.Va.
He was born March 30, 1927, in Monroe County, W.Va.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.Va.

Eugene “Gene” Tyler - 1922-2008
Eugene “Gene” A. Tyler, 85, of Ashland, died Monday at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1922, in Toronto, Canada.
His wife, Fern Van Hoose Tyler, preceded him in death.
There will be no funeral service or visitation. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery.

Robert C. Lewis, 60, of Ashland, husband of Pam Lewis, died Thursday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Geneve Dillow, 66, of Flatwoods, died Wednesday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Ashland.

Bonnie McCloud - 1916-2008
Bonnie Sparks McCloud, 91, of Grayson, died Wednesday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born April 19, 1916, in Morgan County.
Her husband, Everett McCloud, died in 1998.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.
Matthew Jackson - 1976-2008
Matthew Zed Jackson, 31, of Salyersville, died Tuesday in Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville.
He was born Oct. 15, 1976, in Johnson County.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Magoffin County Funeral Home in Salyersville. Burial will be in Conley Cemetery in Mine Fork.

Mirtie Reynolds - 1915-2008
Mirtie Newsome Reynolds, 93, of Ligon, wife of the late Effort Reynolds, died Wednesday in Prestonsburg Health Care Center.
She was born March 23, 1915, in Biscuit.

Brent Adams - 1971-2008
Brent Douglas Adams, 37, of Morehead, died Wednesday at his residence.
He was born Jan. 13, 1971.
His wife, Tammy Wallace Adams, survives.

Charles Roseberry, 70, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, formerly of Elliott County, died Tuesday in Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Dayton, ohio.
He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Elliott County.
His wife, Kelda June Combs Roseberry, survives.
