Mary Fields - 1981-2008
Mary Fields, age 26, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, March 29, 2008 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She was born July 3, 1981, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Thurman Fields and Mollie Mullins Fields.
Surviving are her fiance, Matthew Boggs of Raceland, Ky.; grandmother, Violet Mullins of Ashland; two sons, Christopher Scott Stanley, at home and Ethan Rowen of Grayson, Ky.; a daughter, Elizabeth Dawn Fields, at home; and three brothers, James Fields of Ashland, Shane Fields of Westwood, Ky., and Thurman Fields of Ashland.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by Brother David Brainard. Burial will be in Winslow Cemetery.

Carolyn Shelton Brown - 1936-2008
Carolyn Shelton Brown, 71, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 31, 2008 in King’s Daughters Medical Center after a prolonged illness.
She was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel Mayfield Shelton.
She was a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Lee Shelton.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Brown; two daughters, Zita Carter of Lakeland, Fla., and Sandie Kleinberg and her husband, John of Walled Lake, Mich.; two sisters, Regina Atwell and her husband, Ferris of Pickerington, Ohio, and Donna Carwana and her husband, Alex of Webbville, Ky.; grandchildren, Kristen Kleinberg of Walled Lake, Shawn Rucker and his wife, Vera, Jackie Vanderhoffen, Rachael Vanderhoffen, and Jennifer Vanderhoffen; and three great-grandchildren, all of Lakeland; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland with Dr. Kevin Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

George F. Faulkner - 1923-2008
George F. Faulkner, age 85, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, March 31, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Boyd County, Ky., a son of the late Fred Faulkner and Ethel Ball Faulkner.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Denver and Marvin Earl Faulkner; a sister, Ethel Kate Keaton; and a grandson, Michael Steven Salyer.
He retired in 1985 with 30 + years of service as a master plumber with Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 248. Mr. Faulkner was a member of Holy Family Church and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre of Operation.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lee Grant Faulkner of Ashland; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick (Janie) Faulkner of Ashland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice (Jan) Splichal of Union, Ky., Lee Ann (Charles) Salyer of Morgantown, W.Va., and Barbara (David) Delaney of Ashland; 10 grandchildren, Christine Warren, Laura Beth Belcher, Scott Delaney, Rick Faulkner, David Splichal, Steven Faulkner, Cathy Salyer, Barbara Gail Delaney, Polo Delaney and David Delaney; two great-grandsons, Devin Salyer and Isaac Belcher; two brothers, Bob J. Faulkner of Ashland and Bill Faulkner of Sarasota, Fla.; and two sisters, Betty Hayes and Susan Holbrook, both of Ashland.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Holy Family Church in Ashland by the Rev. John P. Noe. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Ashland with military rites.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 2 at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland.

Mamie Alice Hall Harris - 1920-2008
Mamie Alice Hall Harris, 87, of Grayson, departed this world in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland on March 31, 2008 with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Harris was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Fleming County, Ky., the daughter of the late M.K. and Lona Rice Hall of Fleming County.
She was a member of the Olive Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. J.C. Harris. The Harris’s spent their entire life working the United Methodist Church in the Ashland and Maysville District ministering for the Lord.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Milford Hall, Malon Hall, M. Bill Hall, Mack Hall, Marcus Fred Hall and Marion Lee Hall and three sisters, Mary Harris, Dora Kidd and Myrtle Watson, all of Fleming County.
She is survived by one son, James A. and (Dianne) Harris; two daughters, Lucille and (Noah) Gregory and Beulah Taylor and the late L.C. Taylor, all of Grayson; grandchildren, Alicia Taylor of Means, Ky., Christopher and (Debbie) Harris of Grayson, Cameron and (Erin) Gregory of Samaria, Mich., Kristin and (Keith) Naszradi of Lambertville, Mich., and Michael Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Megan, Mathew and Mitchell Porter of Means, LaShae Naszradi of Lambertville and Alex and Brant Harris of Grayson. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Monnie Hall of Morehead, Ky., and Mable Hall of Dayton, Ohio; and by a special nephew, Hollie Harris and his wife, Jorene of Bean Station, Tenn.; and lots of nieces and nephews and special friends, Tom, Jennifer and Jarid Mattingly of Olive Hill.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Harris include Christopher Harris, Cameron Gregory, Mathew Porter, Jarid Mattingly, George Kiser and Keith Nazradi. Honorary pallbearers are Hollie Harris, Eugene Hall, Mitchell Porter and Tom Mattingly.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.

Ray Shepherd - 1913-2008
Ray W. Shepherd, 94, of Rush, died Monday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Rush.
His wife, Bertha Smith Shepherd, survives.

Ted Meek Jr. - 1936-2008
Ted Meek Jr., 71, of Tomahawk, died Monday in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Johnson County.
His wife, Easter Preece Meek, died in 2004.
A graveside service will be at a later date at Preece-Meek Cemetery in Tomahawk.
There is no visitation.

Jane Litton Allen, 58, of Morehead, died Tuesday at her residence.
She was born April 8, 1949.
Her husband, James Arville “Arv” Allen, survives.
