Faye Carol Luzadder (1955-2008)
Ms. Faye Carol Luzadder, 52, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland after an extended battle against brain cancer.
Ms. Luzadder, daughter of James and Patty Luzadder, was born April 15, 1955, in Fairmont, W.Va. The family moved to Ashland in 1957 and Faye graduated from Paul G. Blazer High School in 1973.
After graduation, Ms. Luzadder worked for General Telephone in Ashland before moving to Lexington in 1984. There she worked in sales, traveling throughout northeastern Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Luzadder, and is survived by Patty Luzadder, her mother, of Hobe Sound, Fla.; Mrs. David Wooten (Debra), her sister, of Catlettsburg, Ky.; and Mr. Ken Luzadder, her brother, of Orlando, Fla. Faye will also be missed by her many friends and colleagues.
A service celebrating Ms. Luzadder’s life will be at 2 p.m. today, March 29, at First Christian Church, 1930 Winchester Ave. in Ashland.
Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

Carl A. “Tony” Sparks
Carl A. “Tony” Sparks, 54, passed away March 27, 2008, in St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.
He was a police officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department. He joined the force in March 1977, making his way through the ranks to lieutenant and earning several meritorious awards. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in 1975 and Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland in 1971. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Davida Dilley Sparks; sons Jason Matthew Sparks and Joshua Michael Sparks; parents Carl Dean and Omerea F. Sparks of Ashland, Ky.; brother David Sparks (Gloria) of St. Louis, Mo.; sister Cheri Deane Bialczak (Bobby) of Williamsburg, Va.; mother-in-law Mary Dilley; sisters-in-law Danita Sisco (Lee), Donna Carpio (Renato) and Diane Bayens (Damon); brothers-in-law Dennis Dilley (DeNette) and Dana Dilley (Gina); aunts Jeane Moore and Joanne Myers; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Entombment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Judy Alcorn (1951-2008)
Judy Rice Alcorn, 56, of Catlettsburg, surrounded by her loving family, passed away early Thursday morning, March 27, 2008, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Ms. Alcorn was born Dec. 12, 1951, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of Janet Baer Rice of Catlettsburg and the late Robert Rice.
She was employed as a senior field representative specialist with El Paso Energy of Catlettsburg. She was of the Baptist faith. Judy loved everyone and always had a smile and a helping hand. She had many special friends and a host of co-workers, all of whom will miss her very much.
Judy sadly leaves behind her loving family, including a brother, Scott Rice of Catlettsburg; two sisters, Jane Jobe of Huntington, W.Va., and Gina Bartram of Catlettsburg; and two nephews, David Jobe of Ashland and Cody Bartram of Catlettsburg.
A funeral service in memory of Judy Alcorn will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Everett Stevens will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Special music will be by the Stevens Family.
Final rest will be in Ashland Cemetery. Co-workers of El Paso Energy will serve as casket bearers.

Burtee Hall
Burtee Hall, 80, of Warnock, Ky., died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at his residence in Fort Meade, Fla..
He was born in Warnock, a son of the late James Madison Hall and Tempie Crum Hall.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon P. Hall, and a granddaughter, Rachael Hall.
He was a farmer and cattleman for several years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Walking Horse Association and a former member of the Greenup Lions Club of Greenup, Ky.
Surviving are his wife, Stella Ronowski Hall, whom he married on Oct. 13, 1945; a son and his wife, Ralph Hall and Sally Hall of Warnock; two grandsons and their wives, James Madison Hall and Melissa Hall and Nathan Lee Hall and Meredith Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Audrey Marie Hall and Raini Lauray Hall.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., by Elder Robert Potter. Burial will be in Smith-Hall Cemetery in Warnock.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Martha Davis (1923-2008)
Martha Francis Davis, 84, of Ashland, died Friday at her residence.
She was born April 22, 1923, in Catlettsburg.

Betty Samworth (1924-2008)
Betty T. Samworth, 84, of Ashland, widow of Harry B. Samworth, died Friday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Jan. 15, 1924.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.

Anne Kramer Monte Johnson, 81, of Ashland, died Thursday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Vergie Cassidy (1929-2008)
Vergie Mae Lewis Cassidy, 78, of Canton, Ohio, died Wednesday at her residence.
She was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Elliott County.
Her husband, Vernon Cassidy Sr., survives.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook. Burial was in Lewis Family Cemetery in Elliott County.

Beverly Huddleston (1947-2008)
Beverly Ann Bach Huddleston, 60, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, died Monday.
She was born June 21, 1947, in Malone.
Her husband, Frank Huddleston, survives.
