Auxie Senters - 1930-2008
Auxie Senters, 77, of Westwood, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2008, following a short-term illness in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky., the daughter of the late Vint and Goldie Preston Walters. She was a member of the United Baptist Church in Falls, Ky., and a homemaker.
Mrs. Senters was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Senters; a daughter, Donna Adams; and five brothers.
Auxie left behind a loving family — a son, Timothy Senters and daughter-in-law, Stephanie of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon Caskey of Ashland and John Jenkins; three grandchildren, Kelli Armstrong and Mike Adams of Westwood and Michelle Adams of Ironton, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Daniel Armstrong, Ali McSorley, Evan McSorley and Aiden McSorley, all of Westwood; four sisters; and four brothers. Auxie thought of Janice Hern as her own daughter and Kim Wollenburg as her granddaughter.
Auxie loved her family deeply.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Elder Clarence Thompson Jr. She will be laid to rest in Dixon Cemetery in Westwood.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Robert G. Kelley - 1946-2008
Robert G. Kelley, 61, of Greenacres, Fla., formerly of Ashland, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in Palm Beach County Hospice in Palm Beach County, Fla.
He was born July 27, 1946, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late James E. and Cora Alley Kelley.
He was a lab technician with Broward County Public Works and was a U.S. Army Vietnam Purple Heart veteran.
Surviving are a brother, Alex H. Kelley and his wife, Cathy, of Ashland; and nieces and nephew Hope McKnight, Jennifer McKenzie and A.J. Kelley.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.
There will be no visitation.

Johnny Mynhier Bradley - 1922-2008
Johnny Mynhier Bradley, 85, of Salt Lick, Ky., formerly of Ashland, died Monday morning, March 17, 2008, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Hazard, Ky., a daughter of the late John L. and Elberta Williams Mynhier.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Karl D. Bradley Sr.; a daughter, Theresa Ann Bradley; and two brothers, Walter C. Mynhier and Ralph W. Mynhier.
Mrs. Bradley was a homemaker and a member of Owingsville Baptist Church.
Surviving is a son, Karl David Bradley Jr. of Salt Lick.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Rose Hill Burial Park by the Rev. Charles E. Stewart.
There will be no visitation.
Services are under the direction of Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.

Mary Comstock - 1924-2008
Mary Sue Ross Comstock, 84, of Rush, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Comstock was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Paul and Edna Earl Bolt Ross. Her husband, Robert Comstock, preceded her in death. She was a retail inspector with Sylvania Electric and attended Ross Chapel.
Mary leaves behind her loving family — a son, Paul Ed Comstock of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Janice Jones of Mount Vernon, Ohio; two brothers, Clyde Ross of Rush and Tom Ross of Ashland; three sisters, Wanda Lou Henry of Catlettsburg, Jeanette Howard of Plain City, Ohio, and Dorothy Morgan of Cocoa, Fla.; and a grandchild, Jennifer Comstock.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Bill Ross and Hanley Ross; and two sisters, Phyllis Davis and Pauline Yakley.
A funeral service in honor of Mary Comstock will be at 1 p.m. today, March 19, 2008, at Ross Chapel in Rush. Pastor David Porter will offer words of comfort. Final rest will be in Ross Cemetery in Rush.

Clyde Price Meadows - 1917-2008
Clyde Price Meadows, 90, of Russell, Ky., died March 15, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Russell, a son of the late Clyde P. Meadows Sr. and Mattie J. Vanderhoof Love.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia M. Meadows; a half brother, Jack D. Love; two sisters, Edith Maxine Johnson and Ester Louise Meadows; and a half sister, Betty Jane Love.
He was a retired yard master for the C&O and CSX Railroad, a member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church in Russell and a World War II Army Infantry veteran. He was chief of the Russell Volunteer Fire Department and the oldest living fire chief in the state of Kentucky, a member of Smith Masonic Lodge 775 for almost 60 years and a member of El Hasa Shrine and American Legion Howard Thomas Post 43 in Raceland.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia D. Beard Meadows of Russell; a son, Clyde Weslee (Debbie) Meadows of Russell; two daughters, Linda K. (Mickey) Fosson of Ashland and Ester “Sissy” Ann (Ed) Shaffer of Russell; a half brother, William Earnest Love of Oak Hill, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dr. Michelle Fosson, Dalawna (Justin) Kearns, Jenny (Scott) Bates, Joe Shaffer and Adare (Greg) Whitt; and 10 great-grandchildren, Grant and Gracie Bates, Sara and Emma Whitt, Amy Kearns and Josh, James, Stephen, Carla and Yasmarie Gibbs.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home in Russell by Pastor Raymond Payne and Roger Bonzo and Jack Edwards, ministers. Burial was in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at noon by Smith Lodge 775, F&AM.

Anna Louise VanHorn Kiser - 1941-2008
Mrs. Anna Louise VanHorn Kiser, 67, of McGlone Creek, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Tuesday morning, March 18, 2008, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Ky.
Mrs. Kiser was born June 7, 1941, in Boyd County, Ky., and was a daughter of the late Wallace F. Sr. and Janie Boggs VanHorn.
Anna was a homemaker, loving wife, stepmother, stepgrandmother, sister, neighbor and friend to all who knew her. She attended Carter Christian Holiness Church in Carter City, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Belinda Kiser Oakley; and two brothers, Elmer VanHorn and Wallace VanHorn Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Bradley Kiser; four stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Randy Kiser of Carter City, Kim Kiser of Grayson, Ky., Mike and Leigh Kiser of Rockmart, Ga., and Steve and Marsha Kiser of Mantachie, Miss.; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Sandy and Lowell Jude of Winchester, Ky.; 14 stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Edward VanHorn of Anderson, Ind., Ralph VanHorn of Fargo, N.D., Harry VanHorn of Ashland, Ky., and Richard VanHorn of Louisa, Ky.; a sister, Mary Morgan of West Chester, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Everett Burnett, Brother Bill Burnett and Bud Burnett. Burial will be in Kiser Cemetery on Ky. 2 in Olive Hill.

Burley Mabry - 1918-2008
Mr. Burley Mabry, 89, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Monday evening, March 17, 2008, in Life Care Center of Morehead.
Mr. Mabry was born June 11, 1918, in Elliott County, Ky., and was a son of the late John and Martha Wagoner Mabry.
Burley was a life-long businessman who owned and operated Mabry’s Grocery Store and was founder of Mabry’s Furniture Store and Recycling Center for many years. He was a Christian and a member of Rock Fork Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Catherine Mullins Mabry, on Dec. 10, 1996; three brothers, Dee Mabry, Owen Mabry and Ora Mabry; five sisters, Virgie Sparks, Edna Porter, Leona Tyo, Lenora Barhite and Nona Porter; three grandchildren, Burley Davis Reynolds, Debra Lynn Butler and Catherine Ann Reynolds; and two sons-in-law, Wilbur Caudill and Tillman Hignite.
He is survived by six daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley Caudill of Grayson, Ky., Charlotte Hignite, Kathy and Arnold Hamilton and Deloris Reynolds, all of Olive Hill, Sharon and Curt Bond of Mansfield, Ohio, and Debbie and Jimmy Reynolds of Ashland, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Pam Pidgeon, Michelle Hamilton, Curtis Bond II, Letish Carter, Tommy J. Reynolds II, Trina Renee Hollingsworth, Sara Nicole Hamilton and Brittney Renee Hamilton; 11 great-grandchildren, James Burley Dean, Arielle Joné Short, Curtis Bond III, Jesse Owen Pidgeon, Corey Hamilton, Summer Hamilton, Hailey Reynolds, Joshlyn Hollingsworth, Nathan Hollingsworth, Alexa Reynolds and Ryan Thomas Carter; two great-great-grandchildren; a special friend and caregiver, Kathleen Hanshaw; a very special friend whom he loved as a son, William Waddell; and several nieces, nephews, other family members, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Brother Rick Crank. Burial will follow in Gilliam-Waddell Cemetery on Proctor Branch Road in Olive Hill.

Norwood Carter, 93, of Sandy Hook, Ky., formerly of West Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mr. Carter was born in Elliott County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Carter.
He was a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Fox of Sandy Hook; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Elliott County Memory Gardens by Brother George Stafford, minister.
Visitation will be after noon Thursday at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook.
Kathleen Davies Bowling - 1924-2008
Kathleen Davies Bowling, 83, of Kenova, W.Va., formerly of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Monday evening, March 17, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born April 2, 1924, in Liverpool, England, a daughter of the late A.J. and Elsie Evans Davies.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bowling, who died in 1963; a son, Arthur James Bowling; and a brother, Robert Davies.
She was retired owner of Bowling Feed & Hardware and attended Calvary Episcopal Church and the British Born Club in Ashland, Ky.
Surviving are a son, Robert David Bowling and wife Sheila of Catlettsburg; a daughter, Margaret Ann Rines of Kenova; a stepdaughter, Linda Mollett and husband Danny of Catlettsburg; a former daughter-in-law, Lynn Hutchinson and husband Jay of Ashland, Ky.; grandchildren Andrew Bowling, Nathan (Virginia) Rines, Holly (Jason) Terry, David Bowling and Adam Bowling; and a great-grandchild, Nathan Matthew Rines II.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Mann S. Valentine IV. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
