Juanita Marie Williams Kocio (1921-2008)
Juanita Marie Williams Kocio, 86, of Ashland, died Wednesday morning in King’s Daughters Medical Center following an extended illness.
Juanita was born May 6, 1921, in Paintsville, Ky., a daughter of the late John S. and Bertha Wheeler Williams.
She was a 1943 graduate of Morehead Teachers College and received her master’s degree from Morehead State University. She began her teaching career at Meade Memorial and Oil Springs schools in Johnson County, Ky., before transferring to Ashland City Schools, where she taught and served as food service administrator until her retirement in 1982. Juanita served as member and officer of the Heritage Women’s Club. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and the Boyd County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a former member of Centenary United Methodist Church, holding various local and district offices in the United Methodist Women’s group.
She was preceded in death in 1977 by her husband of 34 years, Dimitri “Mike” Kocio, and was also preceded by two sisters, Beatrice Williams Pack and Audrey Mae Williams.
Surviving are two daughters, Georgia Roberts and husband Wendell of Ashland, Ky., and Cindy Justice and husband Charles Jr. of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; and five grandchildren, Christen Justice McDougal and husband Don, Andrew Roberts, Matthew Justice, Nicholas Justice and Michael Justice.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Troy Poff.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Dustin DeBord (1984-2008)
Dustin Bradley DeBord, 24, of Flatwoods, passed away in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2008.
Dustin was born Jan. 6, 1984, in Columbus, Ohio, to Cathy Lynn and Larry William DeBord. He had worked as a printing press operator for The Independent and attended Fairview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Cathy Lynn Collins DeBord and Larry William DeBord of Flatwoods; a brother, Ryan William DeBord of Flatwoods; his paternal grandmother, Della DeBord of Flatwoods; his maternal grandparents, Barbara (Don) Farson of Flatwoods; three uncles, Steve (Joyce) Collins of South Point, Ohio, Ron (Sherrae) Collins of Burlington, N.C., and Robert DeBord of Flatwoods; four aunts, Janet (Jerry) Howes of Baltimore, Ohio, Debbie (Don) Hammond of Columbus, Yvonne Carol Collins of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Janet (Gary) Dillow of Flatwoods; two great-uncles, Bill (Pat) Sparks and David Collins; three great-aunts, Carolyn Collins, Rita Collins and Karen Porter; and several cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, March 13, 2008, by the Rev. Mike Rice at Fairview Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the church.

Clinton D. Shover (1939-2008)
Clinton David Shover, 68, of South Shore, Ky., died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born in South Portsmouth, Ky., on Sept. 2, 1939, a son of the late David Shover and Florence Coffee Shover.
He was retired from the dietary department of Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth and a former employee of Western Southern Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Harrison-Fullerton Masonic Lodge 937 of South Shore and a Kentucky colonel.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Shover.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Crisp Shover of South Shore; a daughter, Michelle (Stephen Shon) Tackett of Greenup, Ky.; a son, Michael (Marilyn) Shover of Covington, Ky.; four grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore by the Rev. Steve Nelson. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery on Ky. 1 in South Shore.

Stella Elizabeth Wooldridge Ison (1917-2008)
Stella Elizabeth Wooldridge Ison, 90, daughter of the late Samuel Logan and Mary Ethel Gilliam Wooldridge, was born in Elliott County, Ky., on Sept. 10, 1917, and died March 11, 2008.
Stella was a born-again Christian. She was saved when she was 8 years old standing in front of the fireplace. She lived her life for the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Noel Ison; her youngest son, Alva Jack Ison; her great-grandson, Casey Weasenforth; her brother, John Wooldridge; and her sister, May Wells.
She is survived by her children, Wilbur and Alice Ison of Isonville, Ky., Samuel Milton and Dorothy Ison of Isonville, Noel Jr. and Letha Ison of Greenup, Ky., Florina Lou and Wick Harper of Isonville, Julian Maxwell of Brandenburg, Ky., and Allen Joel and Gail Ison of Isonville; brothers Bob Wooldridge of Pike County, Ohio, and Charlie Wooldridge of Sugar Creek, La.; a sister, Nadine Rhoncheck of Sandy Hook, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was a very kind, compassionate wonderful mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today, March 13, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ison Family Cemetery in Isonville.

Alice Lyon Greene (1923-2008)
Alice Lyon Greene of Frankfort, Ky., formerly of Sandy Hook, Ky., passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Greene was born Sept. 13, 1923 in Crockett, Ky., to the late John Ballard and Lura Barker Lyon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Woodrow Greene; five brothers, Ray, Walter “Buck,” Robert, Roger and Billy Lyon; and two sisters, Bert Webb and Ruby Lyon.
She is survived by a son, William Lyon Greene (Frances) of Frankfort; a daughter, Brenda Gayle Smith (Gary) of Frankfort; a stepson, John Sydney Greene (Donna) of Louisville; a sister, Ruth Sights of Georgetown; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved constant companion, Sam the cat.
In her earlier years, Mrs. Greene was a bank teller, the secretary of Sandy Hook High School, a bookkeeper, was in the coal industry and owned several retail businesses. She was an avid reader and loved music and gardening. She will always be remembered as a strong independent woman with undeniable class and the ability to warm the hearts of all those who came in contact with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and love of life and lived her life as graciously as she left it. She will be sadly missed.
Family and friends will gather and share memories of Alice from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook.
In lieu of flowers, one may donate to the Franklin County Senior Citizen Center in Frankfort.

Edith Gay, 84, of Ashland, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Willard Schneider (1934-2008)
Willard W. Schneider, 73, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at his residence.
He was born May 27, 1934, in Perkins Ridge, Ohio.
His wife, Lovilla McCarty Schneider, survives.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bowling Cemetery in Cannonsburg.
