Patrick Lamb

Patrick “Patch” Henry Lamb, 20, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., passed away on March 5, 2008, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road, Mount Pleasant. Entombment will be in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

Patrick was born Feb. 4, 1988, in Charleston, S.C., a son of Mark Ellis Lamb Sr. and Mary Henry Lamb of Mount Pleasant. He graduated from Wando High School and was a sophomore at The Citadel, belonging to Alpha Company. He was an Eagle Scout (Troop 502). Patrick loved to hunt and fish.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Mark Lamb Jr. and Brett Lamb, both of Mount Pleasant; his paternal grandparents, Mary and Melvin Lamb Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Henry of Ashland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Foundation, 69 Barre St., Charleston, SC 29401, The Citadel, 171 Moultrie St., Charleston, SC 29409 or Boy Scout Troop 502, c/o First United Methodist Church, 12 21st Ave., Isle of Palms, SC 29451.

Chester Eugene Weimer

Chester Eugene Weimer, 87, of Indianapolis, formerly of Farmland, Ind., passed away peacefully in Miller’s Senior Living Community of Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Randolph County, Ind., a son of the late Russel and Sylvia Irene (Harris) Weimer.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Leona Marie (Farmer) Weimer.

Chester was a member of Dunkirk Friends Church of Winchester, Ind., and faithfully participated as a Gideon. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Ellen Irene McFadden (husband Kenneth) of Fort Lawn, S.C., Barbara Ann Zimmerman (husband Philip) of Ashland and Alice Weimer of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Rachel and David Zimmerman, both of Ashland, and Rebecca McSwain (husband Alan) of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Marvin Weimer of Parker City and Floyd Weimer (wife Joyce) of Lynn, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service to celebrate Chester’s life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Thornburg Memorial Chapel, 2048 N. CR 1000 W. Parker City, IN 47368 by pastors Daniel Edwards and Wayne Covert. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery of Maxville, Ind.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dunkirk Friends Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Johnie Brown Weaver - 1924-2008

Johnie Brown Weaver, 83, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Weaver was born June 14, 1924, in Anthras, Tenn., the daughter of the late Abraham L. and Elizabeth Todd Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John P. Weaver.

Mrs. Weaver was a homemaker and a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.

She is also survived by a son and his wife, John H. Weaver and Donna Farthing Weaver of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Judy Moore, and her husband, Wendell, of Owingsville; a brother, Thomas “Buck” Brown of Pennington Gap, Va.; two sisters, Bertha Marie Ridings and Opal Portwood, both of Clinton, Tenn.; grandchildren Wendell Moore Jr. of Louisville, Paul David Moore and his wife, Kim, of Owingsville, Lara Moore of Kingsport, Tenn., John C. Weaver and fiancee Allison Jones of Houston and Zach Weaver of Houston; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and McKenna Moore.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Jim Nichols. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Wildwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 3414 Charles St., Ashland, KY 41101.

Frederick A. Wooten - 1937-2008

Frederick A. Wooten, Sr., 70, Albany, Ohio, passed away on Thursday March 6, 2008, in Scenic Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.

He was born Nov. 9, 1937, in Catlettsburg, he was the son of Martha Sloane Wooten of Albany and the late Adam Wooten Jr. He was an Air Force Veteran, a member of Albany Masonic Lodge 723, F&AM, and the Hocking Valley Sportsman Association and a former Albany Village councilman.

Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years, Callie M. O’Bryan Wooten; children Michael (Debra Abraham) Wooten, Frederick Jr. (Kate Stotts) Wooten, Timothy W. Wooten and Jeffrey M. (Debra Clark) Wooten, all of Albany; grandchildren Jamie M. (Zack) Dye of Albany, Shawn M. Wooten of Toledo, Ohio, and Sasha L., Timothy D. and Smantha N.L. Wooten, all of Albany; great-grandchildren Adam “Max” and Lucy J. Dye, both of Albany; sisters Barbara J. (Harry Jr.) Davis of Albany and Margaret Ann (Joe) Thomas of Middletown, Ky.; and stepgrandchildren Bradley M., Ryan A. and Justin Shumate, Chelsea and Clinton “Dubba” Sanders and Chad Dixon, all of Albany, and Alicia Dixon of Varney, W.Va.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael G. Wooten, and a special lifetime friend, John Elswick.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bigony Jordan Funeral Home in Albany by Pastor Bert Christian. Intombment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where there will be a Masonic service be at 7 p.m.



Linda L. Spears - 1951-2008

Linda L. Spears, 56, of Wurtland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Spears was born March 16, 1951, in Ashland, a daughter of Wetzel and Hazel Pennington Lee of Worthington and the late Roosevelt Pennington Jr.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Terry V. Spears.

Mrs. Spears was a member of Danleyton Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Wurtland Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Wurtland High School and Ashland Community College.

She is survived by a stepson, Matthew (Adele) Mallow-Spears of Wisconsin; a daughter, Amanda Beth Spears (Roger) Covert of Wurtland; a brother, Jerry (Cheryl) Pennington of Raceland; two sisters, Sandra (Harold) Slaughter of Worthington and Donna (Tim) Dement of Russell; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Quinten and Wanda Spears of Wurtland; a sister-in-law, Rayna (Scott) Nixon of Texas; and six grandchildren, Terron Riley Covert, Kendall Paige Covert, Haylee Covert, Tayla Mallow-Spears, Rhiannon Mallow-Spears and Quinten Mallow-Spears.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Marvin Boggs. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and an hour before services on Monday at the funeral home.



Elsie Jo Elkins Sammons - 1933-2008

Elsie Jo Elkins Sammons, 74, of Flatwoods, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Sammons was born March 18, 1933, in Wurtland, a daughter of the late Bernie and Lillie Heaberlin Elkins. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dana Elkins and Crystal Jean Crump.

She was a homemaker and a graduate of Wurtland High School.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Sammons; a daughter, Bobbi Jo Sargent of Raceland; five brothers, J.L. (Peggy) Elkins of Roswell, Ga., Fred (Barbette) Elkins of Flatwoods, Don (Mona) Elkins of Fort Myers, Fla., Marvin (Jo Ann) Elkins of Spring Lake, Mich., and Herb Elkins of St. Augustine, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Ryan, Samantha Jo and Isabella Grace Sargent of Raceland.

A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Heaberlin Cemetery in Wurtland by the Rev. Earl D. Sammons. Burial will be in Heaberlin Cemetery in Wurtland.

Donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 2212 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.



Levi Keathley

Levi Keathley, 88, of Ashland, died Friday in Community Hospice Care Center.

Patricia Hall, 68, of Westwood, wife of Larry Hall, died Friday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Gary Grizzle

Gary Grizzle, 59, of Ashland, died Friday at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Reynolds Grizzle.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Military services will be provided by American Legion Kenova Post 93.

Friends may call after noon Monday at the funeral home.



Lee M. Smith - 1947- 2008

Lee M. Smith, 60, Catlettsburg, died Friday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mr. Smith was born Sept. 27, 1947, in Oneida.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Mullins Smith.

Lucille A. LeGrand

Lucille A. Legrand, 93, of South Portsmouth, died Friday at Southern Ohio Medical Center’s Hospice Center.

She was the wife of Walter LeGrand.

Henry Barney

Henry Barney, 72, of Flatwoods, died Friday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Opal Lee Medley - 1935-2008

Opal Lee Medley, 72, of Lexington, died Thursday at her residence.

Mrs. Medley was born March 20, 1935, at Kinniconick.

Her husband, James Robert Medley, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in McEldowney Cemetery in Strickett.

Virgie Stephens

Virgie Stephens, 62, of Elliott County, died Friday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Janet Sue Dean

Janet Sue Dean of Pedro died Thursday at her residence.

She was the widow of Harold Ray Dean.
