East Carter gets first victory against Bath

GRAYSON — Senior quarterback Cole McClain accounted for three touchdowns to lead East Carter past Bath County 38-21 on Sunday afternoon.

The win, the Raiders’ first of the season, came two days later than scheduled because of an electrical outage on Friday night.  

McClain ran for 94 yards on 15 carries and scored twice on the ground. The senior was also 5 of 8 in passing for 52 yards and a touchdown.

After trading touchdowns early in the first quarter, East Carter scored 17 unanswered points to take a 24-6 lead at halftime.

Jordan Ratcliff scored the game’s opening touchdown and finished the game with 92 yards on 11 carries and the one touchdown.

East Carter (1-2) had 368 yards of total offense while Bath County gained 233 yards.

Senior running back Que Davis had 80 yards on just five carries for the Raiders.

Bath County (1-3) DeKeiton Young led the Wildcats’ offense 111 yards passing while Curren Shrout had 90 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
