SOCCER ROUNDUP: Dyer posts hat trick for East

GRAYSON — East Carter senior Macy Dyer posted a hat trick and the Lady Raiders continued on their sizzling path to start the season. They defeated Boyd County, 7-1, at home to move their record to 5-1.

Megan Stickler scored the first two goals, with assists from Dyer and Alexa Sturgill, to give East Carter a 2-0 lead by halftime.

Mandy Langstaff found Sturgill for the third goal before Dyer gave the Lady Raiders a 4-0 lead on an assist from Laine Morrison.

Senior Amber Hall made it 5-0 on a penalty kick goal.

Dyer finished off East Carter’s scoring with two more goals, one coming off an assist by Ashleigh McDowell and the other on a penalty kick.

Boyd County’s goal was by Brittany Jarrell.

East Carter has outscored opponents 44-4 this season.

Rowan Co. 2

MOREHEAD Senior Heather Hencye collected three assists and five different players scored goals as unbeaten Russell rolled past Rowan County.

Russell moved out to a 4-1 halftime lead on the way to win No. 7.

Cara Maher had two goals and an assist, while Brooke Fowler, Lexie Frisby, Hollie Hencye and Morgan Vonderheide each contributed a goal. Hollie Hencye also had an assist.

Goalkeeper Jalyn Forsyth made four saves for the Lady Devils, who outshot Rowan County 21-6.

Russell faces a major test Saturday at Lexington Christian Academy. Starting time is 1 p.m.
