PREP ROUNDUP: Tomcats drop one at Myrtle

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Olentangy Liberty made Tuesday a long one for Ashland’s baseball team.

The Patriots, from Powell, Ohio, put the Tomcats in a 6-0 hole by the third inning. They added five runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh en route to a 15-4 victory.

Ashland pitchers tallied a combined 13 walks and hit-by-pitches.

Aaron Elam was one of Tuesday’s few bright spots in Myrtle Beach. The senior went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Ashland (4-2) faces Highlands on Thursday.

DAYTON Tyler Morris dealt a pitching gem as Raceland cruised past Dayton on Tuesday.

Morris struck out 15 batters in a complete-game effort.

Alec Risner racked up three singles and three RBIs. Trey Mills added a hit and two runs.

Raceland (4-5) heads to Bellevue today.

VERO BEACH, Fla. Greenup County suffered its fifth straight loss in falling to Graves County on Tuesday in “Dodgertown.”

Senior Jerome Boggs tallied three hits and senior J.B. Brown added an RBI in the loss.
