A local men’s 50-and-over softball team won the bronze medal in the Men’s 50-59 age division at the recent National Senior Games in Cleveland.
The competition was held July 20-22.
The “Old School” team, representing Kentucky, consisted of players from Boyd and Greenup Counties.
Old School won the the final game of pool play against Brighton, Mich., then followed up by beating New York in the first game of double-elimination competition.
On the tournament’s final day, the Kentucky team advanced to the winner's bracket semifinals before falling in extra innings to Rochester, Michigan.
Guided by player/coach Tony Collins, Old School finished out with a bronze medal. Gold went to West Virginia/Pennsylvania, while Rochester, Mich., took the silver.
